How to unlock the The Start achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

This Achievement seems much easier to get if you create a starting pitcher for your My Player. After playing about 12 games as an infielder, I was still only around an overall 62 rating.

Create a pitcher and choose Starter as his pitching role. I chose fastball, change-up, and slider as my three pitches. When you play your first start in the minors, focus heavily on meeting the goals for each batter you face. While a fielder typically gets 4-5 at bat goals and 4-5 fielding goals in a typical game, you can easily get a minimum of 18 pitching goals in 6 innings of work.

Pitcher goals range from the simple (don't walk the batter, get a first pitch strike) to challenging (induce a ground-out double play, strike out the side). Each successful goal earns you points toward improving your player's ratings, and you'll get bonuses for completing an inning with no hits (35 pts), no runs (35 pts), fly outs and groundouts (15 pts - regardless of who makes the putout), and getting the win (50 pts) among others.

I pitched a complete game shutout in my first full start and poured my points into the two abilities that improve your success against right handed batters. That was enough to push my overall to a 65 rating and unlock the Achievement after one full game. Good luck.

this chivvy has to be glitched, I have 2 players: a SP and LF both near 75 with nothing popping. Is this how 2K is doing games now?

Also remember that you double ur points when u reach a 10 game hitting streak, dont know how that works for pitchers.
