How to unlock the The Top achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

An easy way to do this, and one that saves time, is just to go to the roster management screen. From there, pick a team (I chose the royals merely because they already had pretty bad players), and lower the rankings of the players (dont forget the minor leagues) to where you want them. I made so no one was 70+ overall, and I have already gotten the achievement despite it being my first season. Also, if you then wish to get on a better team, then just request to be traded to the team of your choice

I was never able to figure this out partly because this is my first 2K game ever. But I recommend playing though the usual course of play. You will obtain this achievement on your way to the Hall of Fame regardless. Note my solution as well.

The Top achievement - Become the #1 ranked player in your My Player organization.

RE: Previous Solutions: If you are unable to change rosters with the quick fix solution, try mine. It seems like a good solution but I could never figure that method out. Besides, you will need to spend time to get The Hall achievement regardless.

NOTE: Like all grind achievements, this will take quite a bit of time.

Go to My Player mode and create a new profile. It will ask you to select a position. Then choose a batter (any position but pitcher-I chose second base). Through natural progression, power up your Left/Right Contact and Left/Right Power first for your batting stats. Whenever you have xp to spend, just focus on those stats. These stats are most important to hitting well and that will yield more xp faster. Disregard eye/bunting stats entirely. Your running and fielding stats must be leveled up but where you spend those points is irrelevant.

After playing through the minors and finishing 1 complete season in the majors, my player was level 92, at which point both The Truth and The Top achievements had popped (caveat: if you are on the best team, you might need to play more until you pass their overall rating; thus, choose a team with a losing record). In most cases, you will be the best in your organization and in the top 5-10 in MLB.

DO NOT simulate games until your first season in the big leagues is completed. That will help in obtaining The Hall achievement later. And you will not get much experience points unless you actually play the games.

SIDE NOTE: If you choose a batter, you will also be able to get the achievements The Star and That is Why I'm Here. Those achievements never popped as a starting pitcher for me. I could never get a CLUTCH MOMENT to happen and they never selected me to pitch in an All Star game.

If you vote negative, please let me know why so I can adjust the solution. Thanks.

Please do not vote negative without providing a comment on how to improve or contacting me for clarification. Had the information I'm providing been posted prior to me getting this achievement, I would have saved about 50-60 hours playing as a pitcher that was essentially wasted.
