How to unlock the Time to Run for Mayor achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

If you want to get this quickly, you could just go into roster and edit every batter on your team to have ridiculous stats. So 99 contact, power, eye, etc. You practically know where every pitch is going to be, so just wait for a high fastball or a pitch in the middle of the zone and turn on it. This helps with a lot of the batting achievements too.

Was it on Rookie difficulty or did you customize any sliders? Because even if you accidently nudged a slider one notch it will change to custom and mess it up

Is there any other way to do this..because I had gotten three home runs in a game with Ryan Braun and the achievement did not pop. I looked in the box score and it said I had tree home runs. Is it GLITCHED?

Re-posting this due to the crash.

The achievement description is obvious, but please note this
achievement cannot be earned in My Player mode.

Last time I posted this information, I received negative votes. Please,
if you have a reason for voting that way, share it. Knowing which mode
in which achievements can be earned is valuable, perhaps moreso than
being told to raise your team's batting stats.

If you are purely interested in boosting this achievement, here is a method that may prove more reliable and controllable than some of the previously mentioned solutions.

Use the Create a Player and Create a Team function to create four players and two teams. You will need two fielders and two pitchers. Create one fielder and one pitcher with maxxed out stats. Create the other fielder and pitcher with minimum stats.

On the minimum pitcher, remove the third, fourth, and fifth pitches from his arsenal and lower the tendency on the second pitch to 0 before settting the first pitch fastball to 100. I recommend giving him a speed of 85-88 for best effect. You should give him some control but no movement. This will give you a pitcher who will throw a batting practice fastball over the middle of the plate most of the time.

Create the two teams and assign the two maxxed out players to one, and the minimum players to the other. Repeat this process choosing the same player multiple times. You will end up with a roster full of 9 copies of the same pitcher and 13 copies of the same fielder. This gives you an insanely deep lineup while also ensuring you will see the exact same pitcher for 9 innings. You could also take the time to make individual players. Your choice!

Go to Play Ball and use the left trigger to cycle down past the LA Angels and you will come to the custom teams. Put your sad-sacks as the visitors and your power team as home. I am not sure if inside-the-park homeruns count for the 3, so you should avoid a big ballpark. I normally use Polo Grounds, but for these achievements, its a little much. Try AAA East as its very uniform and even. Gusty Winds helps too, but watch the flags to see which way the wind is blowing. If its blowing in, Quit and Rematch until you get favorable winds.

Now, play the game, and use your power swings. Just sit and wait for fat pitches down the middle. You can swing and high pitches that enter the zone if you wish. Dont be afraid to push your runners all the way to home on a hit to the gap or the wall. The arm strength of the defense vs your runner speed should end up in your favor. On the other hand, dont waste outs. You need as many at-bats as you can get.

As you progress, you can press pause, then open the Game stats and look at the box score. It will show you how many HRs you have per batter. Just keep swinging. It might take until the 7th or 8th inning, but you'll get there.

Side note... using the method above for creating easy pitching, it makes no difference if you are a left-handed batter or a right-handed batter. The ball has minimal movement, and with your heightened stats you know where its going anyway! To that end, if you make your power hitter a switch hitter, you can opt to choose the stance that gives you the best advantage toward a shorter wall or if you are a pull- or opposite-field swinger.

To do this, you'll need to have a power hitter, with preferably a high average and a good eye against the type of pitcher you're facing. And a pitcher that's not too great either (below 80). I did this with Evan Longoria against the Orioles during Franchise mode. Just be patient and wait for a pitch to outline your strike zone blue, which means it's gonna be a good pitch to launch. Time it right, power swing, and pull the ball. It might take awhile just cuz you obviously need at least 3 at bats which could take you at least half the game. I recommend trying to get this one while working towards your franchise achievements. Good luck!
