How to unlock the School for the Gifted achievement in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds - Definitive Guide

Here's a way to boost this...in advanced this requires a great friend/boosting buddy/second LIVE account and a memory stick or memory card and you may or may not need to be within 1-2 ranks of each other..I haven't confirmed that part yet.

The first thing is go to ranked match and then click on custom match. When you get to the custom game screen you will want it to look like this for both you and your boosting partner.

REGION: Same
LANGUAGE: Deutsch
RANK LIMIT: Any

After you both have that set up click search at the same time and hopefully you will be able to find each other. If you find that a lot of people are on the same language, swap it to a different one.

Also, I found that if we could not find each other...one person go to Offline Mode into the Arcade Mode and pick any 3 characters. When the screen pops up to pick your time limit and other stuff turn the Fight Request on.. Make sure that you set the Region and the Rank Limit up the same way that your boosting partner is so you can find each other. Start the Arcade Match and then have your boosting buddy (who should already be at the Custom Ranked screen with everything set up) click search and hopefully they will be able to find you.

Here's The Problem...

The thing is, you can't actually boost all 5 with the same person. It will not let you (at least in my experience). I got to 4 with my brother and after that it would not let us find each other in a ranked match no matter what.

So what I did is after I got to my fourth ranked win...I copied my save file to my usb device. I would load up the game with my save from my hard drive and try to get a ranked win. If I lost, I'd exit back to the dashboard and delete my save from my hard drive and then copy the one from the USB back to the hard drive and try it again.

On my second try with this I beat someone and got the achievement. I hope this helps...

If all else fails, everytime you win one ranked match save and copy it and repeat that process until you get to five. BUT make sure you do NOT do anything else while attempting this (such as complete acrade mode or whatever) because you will probably be re-loading this and therefore lose your data if you completed missions or arcade mode. Do this in one go.

Good luck and excelsior!

Just tried this and couldn't get a connection at all. Followed all of the tips above. I'm pretty frustrated with it right now.

Note: You can not be in a party chat with your boosting partner. We kept trying on two different days to find each other, then we decided to go into a private chat and lo and behold, we were not only able to find each other in a custom ranked game, but we were able to fight each other about 8 times in a row.

Bit late to the party, but we followed this method and still cannot find each other on ranked battles.

me and my boosting partner could not find each other at all and we were on private chat instead of party.

Yeah same here Desi. I tried every single trick that every single solution posted and nada.

It’s annoying lol I had 4 matches play just fine about 2 weeks ago. And ever since then it’s been just “searching…”

We got 5 matches very easily in a session I did.

If the servers are absolutely dead, which they were when we played, then the game has no choice but to pair you up with your boosting partner.

I saw another tip I saw is to change your timezones to be the same. If both swith to a region where most people should be sleeping, it should be easier to connect.
In case you don't know how...

1.Start your Xbox 360 console without a disc inside the disc tray.
2.Go to the Settings hub, and choose System.
3.In the Console Settings area, select Clock.
4.In the Clock Settings area, change the following settings:?Date and Time: Use your controller or remote control to set the date and time. Set the date format by using the locale that you have set for your console.

Opponents online often tend to be overly aggressive. Here are a few basic tips:

1.) Opponents tend to use a lot of assists. This of course leaves them vulnerable to attacks, including your Hyper Combos. If you severely damage an opponent's partner, try to use a snapback to prevent healing.
2.) Opponents tend to be aggressive to start long combos. Using TaskMaster's counter move and also his counter-style Hyper Combo makes him particularly effective at putting an end to opponents that "push you into the ropes" so to speak.
3.) Crossover Counters can be extremely helpful if you are good at landing them. An interesting addition.

Practice and GL. The game is new, so now is a good time to start trying for this one.

omg this advice is basics but it is such gold! if you can't find a boosting partner on this follow this advice.

REALLY FOCUS on Rule one. If you can hit other characters when they come out to help out you will own your them because when they are helping out they ALWAYS take 150% more damage! so if you think they are about to pull somebody out to help do a hyper EVEN if they are blocking you can kill off alot of the girls with Chun-Li's hyper in one shot.

Snap back is also useful! if you almost killed them do a snap back even if it does cost 1 bar it's way better than to allow that character you've been working so hard to kill to get on the sidelines and heal up.

As of Dec of 2013 all methods above work fine as in

REGION: Same
LANGUAGE: Deutsch
RANK LIMIT: Any

However heres a big thing that I didn't see here that drove me and my boosting partner mad after 2 days of trying, it seems that you can't be in a party chat at all. Not only were we not able to fight each other via the custom match but also when we both quick matched at the same time, even though no one else could be found for ether of us to fight So after simply switching to a private chat and exiting the party we found each other quite easily, 8 times in a row actually since that all we needed.

So I hope this helps any future boosters of this ach. xD

Yes it is only reason we only need to match up 8 times was because I already had 2 wins in a row from trying to quick match the others were for my partner 5 wins in a row good luck

School For The Gifted:

Here is my guide on the "School for the Gifted" achievement!
(This is for boosting purposes, so you will a partner and they will have to follow these steps too)

Step 1! On the Xbox Dashboard, go to System Settings then Console Settings. Next, go to Clock and change your Timezone to something like 00 GMT London or any time zone that sets your Xbox clock to a time when people should be sleeping.

Step 2! Start up the game, go to Xbox Live, Ranked Match, then Custom Match. Next, set your Regions to SAME, Language to anything except Japanese(Chinese?) and English, and finally set Rank Limit to ANY.

Step 3! Start a countdown like this "3..2..1..Search" On "1" Player 1 will begin searching. On "Search" Player 2 will begin to search.

AND THAT'S IT!

MISC INFO! When I tried this, my boosting partner and myself were matched up 3 times then on the 4th it would not connect us to each other. It would just sit there and say "Searching For Match".

Now when it does this, you and your partner will have to go to Offline Mode and either play Arcade or whatever for about 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes go back to searching. If it continues to do this then repeat with the Offline Mode.

I actually didn't get connected with my partner for my 5th win but the guy I was matched with was pretty bad so my Streak was safe.
A note though, if for some reason you do get matched with someone else mid-streak, then just try to beat them. If you exit to dashboard or sign out in the match, then your streak will reset.

I hope this guide has helped you with the achievement, if you have any questions then feel free to ask.

I just got this achievement fighting the same guy 5 times in a row (actually we fought 8 times in a row, he was on a 2 winning streak).
We did a custom search for ranked matches using this settings:
REGION: Any
LANGUAGE: Deutsch
RANK LIMIT: Any
One more thing, his rank was rookie and mine was fighter.

There is an easy way to get this trophy. First, you need to win at least one battle online. Then exit the game and copy the game save to the flash drive. Then we go back into the game and try to win another battle online. If you fail to win the second battle in a row, then exit the game again and delete the save. And we save the save that you had on the flash drive on the PS3 and again try to win the battle. And so on.

I played ranked matches, won 9 games in a row, naturally they gave me a trophy... The point is, when you play a ranked match for the first time, you need to click on quick matches, there will be new opponents for you to knock out, that is, people just like you... Let's take Dante the Wolverine and Wesker. . as soon as the battle begins, we approach point-blank and press the square 3 times followed by the cross... The enemy is thrown up and you shoot together. Continue hitting the cross until the series of air combos reaches the Wesker. And when we reached it, we press zero (we play in sim mode, I forgot to indicate it right away) voila, half of the hmm was taken from the opponent... As a rule, beginners cannot properly block.. This is the angle in which the whole battle takes place... The tactics worked for me up to rank 4 in a row. Then people really burn.
