How to unlock the Brawler achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

I recommend doing this on Minos Wasteland > Fortis> Aequitas. There's a side mission there that has you investigating a mining colony. It's full of husks, including 4 at the very beginning. Since achievement counts aren't affected by reloads, you can kill the 4 then reload and do them again, over and over until you get the achievement.

At the end of this mission, there is also what seems to be unlimited husks and unlimited ammo, so you might be able to grind it there as well.

Thanks for this. I was wondering how I was going to do this achievement. This was perfect. I did it at the end of the mission with the unlimited husks. As long as you don't blow up the bombs they just keep coming.

One minor point though, the system is actually called Fortis and not Fintos. It was fairly obvious that's what you meant once I got to Minos Wasteland but you might want to correct it in your solution anyway.

Yea, I tried at least twice as many times before I got the 20 I needed. There's a very small window of time after the hit when it would register for me. It was pretty much hit/fire as quickly as possible. And sometimes I just plain missed. =P

FYI, if I'm following the wikia entry correctly, before you can find this system, you have to purchase the star map from Baria Frontiers on Illium, and before you can get to Illium, you have to complete the Horizon mission, which is only available after recruiting the first four team members suggested by the Illusive Man. In other words, it's not available from the moment you have control of the Normandy.

It should be noted that in order for the strike to count, you must shoot them in the chest after. It wasn't quite clicking for me because I kept shooting them in the legs after punching them. If you press B and then aim for the chest and hold the trigger down during the melee animation, you will get it every time.

Also, adrenaline rush works wonders in this part. If you're not careful they can mob you pretty quickly, so using adrenaline rush makes it easy since it slows everything down to a crawl.

This is easiest done with Husks. You can find a lot of husks on the Horizon colony which is story related. Simply run up to them with a shotgun or pistol and melee them with B and shoot them as fast as you can. You should see an achievement tracker after each kill

The easiest way to do this is with someone who can Hack. Have them hack a Geth... then when its on your side punch it and kill it!

Specifcially, do the side mission N7: Wrecked Merchant Freighter which is located on Neith (4th planet/Amun system/Eagle Nebula cluster). Apparently there are 180 Mechs... plenty hack and melee.

Anyone doing this achievement on Insanity with an Infiltrator and struggling: I did it on Minos Wasteland > Fortis> Aequitas as suggested and used a Mantis (with Disruptor Ammo, but shouldn't matter). Beginning of the mission with the 4 husks: First I scoped and did a body shot which got the husk down to 3/4 health and no armor. Let the husk get closer, cloak, get real close, one melee and instantly a no-scope shot to the chest. Worked almost every time. Make sure you don't shoot their feet as this does not appear to count when they get killed this way.

I accomplished this on the Collector's Ship toward the end of the mission there are ~ 10 Husks... Save right before, you'll get a cue from Joker to quickly get to the Normandy, equip a shotgun and punch them then shoot. Let 2 - 3 kill you toward the end and then resume... it will record each kill you receive. Shouldn't take more than 5 - 10 minutes.

I got this late in the game when you go onto the abandoned ship to get the IFF thing. There are many Husks on this level.

About halfway through the mission lots of Husks will start appearing; press the B button when they're really close to you, and then shoot them. Remember that Husks are very vulnerable to fire, so equip incendiary rounds in your favorite gun. I used an assault rifle that had a few upgrades, and one burst from it after punching a Husk was enough to get a kill.

Not a hard achievement to get, but if your teammates are really good they'll cheat you out of some kills before the achievement unlocks.

I did this on the level where you have to close the shutters shortly after meeting Archangel. I did this where the shutter is near the long corridor. I waited for the enemies to respawn, got close and hit B, then shot them down. It took a few min but it was simple enough. Hope this helps.

I found it extremely easy to get during the Krogan loyalty mission. There's a part where you fight waves of enemies. The first two waves are all varren and those crab things. Pull out your shotgun. Run up, melee the enemy, shotty. Do this for every enemy you can. If you haven't gotten it and the second wave is almost over let yourself die. Your total is cumulative.

During a side mission on Eagle Nebula>Amun>Neith there seem to be an infinite number if LOKI mechs and a lot of debris to take cover behind. It only took me about 3 minutes to get the achievement here.

This should normally come while just playing the game. If however you want to get this over with quickly you can do the following:

Start a new character or import one. Make sure to set the difficulty to Hardcore. When you reach the first enemy on the Lazarus Station simply run up to it, melee him then immediately mow him down with your pistol. Move on to the second room. Here you'll have another five enemies. Do the same with them, one after another. Make sure to take cover in between so your shields can recharge. Once you took down the last one you'll see the Autosave icon in the lower left corner. After it finished saving just restart the mission and repeat the process. Shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes. I'll also add a video that shows exactly how to do it.

The Best places to try for this achievement are on the collector ship toward the end of the mission and on the Derelict Reaper toward the middle and the end. Just run up to them ( or let them run up to you ), punch them, then shoot them with a shotgun, assault rifle or machine immediately afterwards. Now repeat another 19 times and the achievement is yours.

NOTE: Your teammates may kill some of the Husks before you can shoot them yourself in that case it will not count toward the Achievement.

Note 2: This is better done with weak enemies like Husks

This is best done on Husks. They're mindless zombie like creatures that will run straight at you. Have a shotgun ready. When they get right next to you, push to knock them back. When they're knocked back, quickly fire your shotgun. The best places to get this are on the human colony, on the Collector ship, or on the Collector base. You'll encounter plenty of Husks in each place.

Tip from BaldWombat: The Wrecked Mercenary Ship side mission in the Eagle Nebula is a good place for this. There are plenty of low level mechs that you can hit, and then kill with one shot.

Husks are simply not working for me on insanity. I recommend varren. Husks barely get knocked back at all from a punch. You literally must hold the trigger during the melee animation and even still it doesn’t seem to track 80% of the time for me. Find some space dogs.

Here's a very easy way to get started. When Shepard gets up from his bed. Takes 15-20 minutes. The difficulty level is one lower than the maximum (Expert, sort of). We run up to the robot, hit it, while it twitches, we shoot. There are 5-6 of them. We don’t go any further, we just reboot. Here's a video

<html / For a trophy, you don’t need to knock him down, but stun him and then shoot him - huskies are a good choice (unarmed zombies running in crowds (created by collectors). You hit him hand-to-hand (O) and quickly shoot him while he is swinging. If you did it correctly, a message will appear as to what number for trophy

It is very easy to do even on a madman on Varren on Tuchanka during the mission for Grunt's loyalty, during the test.

LOKI robots are also great.

  • We knock down the armor.
  • Volume on , the robot begins to shake.
  • We shoot.
Why LOKI? From my experience, melee attacks always work on them. To receive the trophy, the enemy must be stunned (like knocked out) and killed immediately. I played as a stormtrooper, so I shot with a shotgun, and he is very good in close combat.

Those who play on a high level of difficulty have probably encountered the fact that enemies are in no hurry to fall (They fall extremely rarely... and to be more precise, they practically do not fall) after you hit them in melee (Initially ). So, let's do this:

1) We find the necessary enemy - huskies (Local zombies of gray-blue color), if you do not have much improved weapons (You should also be careful with huskies, as they usually move in crowds) or strong opponents, such as legionnaires, centurions or stormtroopers.

2) We leave our partners around the nearest corner (I don’t recommend it in the case of huskies), since they can inadvertently shoot the enemy necessary for the trophy (Especially at a high level and many improvements).

3) “Remove” the enemy’s shield, barrier or armor.

4) When the enemy only has a health bar left (Red), we run up to the enemy, quickly use a biotic skill (On our own or with the help of a partner (I had Thane and Garrus)), after which the enemy falls to the ground ("Strike", " Throw" etc.) or "Stunning shot" (For soldiers).

5) We strike in hand-to-hand combat against a prone opponent (Initially ) and shoot at him before he gets up (better with a shotgun, and better in the head).

6) Repeat until you get the trophy. Sometimes it may not work.

PS It may sound tricky, but it works at the maximum difficulty level. I played as a scout, whose tactical camouflage (Invisibility) significantly helps in obtaining this trophy.
