How to unlock the Doppelganger achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

After recieving this side-quest from Samara, head to Omega and go in to the Afterlife club to talk with Aria. She will inform you of where the most recent murder took place.
Head over to the apartment (a previously locked door can now be opened, over by where you went to recruit Mordin). Talk to the dead girls mother. Go in to her room, examine all the journal entries and the other 2 items in the room...
Head to the Afterlife VIP party area, tell the guard that Jaruut suggested you come here. Enter the party. Talk to the guy immediately to your left about the band hes talking about, leave him.
Fight with the turians that are planning to steal, talk to the man asking you to help with his friend by using the 2 codewords in a coversation with her, punch the guy trying to prostitute the dancer.
After all this is done, you should be approached by Morinth. Once in a dialogue with her talk about art (mention the artist that was in the girls journal), talk about travel (mention the ideas of danger and violence is a means to power) and talk about music (mention the band that the guy at the club enterance bugged you about). This should land you back at her apartment.
Before talking to her, grab the upgrade on the wall and feel free to look at the other various items around the room. Talk to Morinth. I then proceeded to land all the renegade convo options (think you can do the paragon option for the same effect) to stay on her good side. Eventually she will try to hypnotise you, reply with the renegade/paragon option and Samara will enter the room. They will have a duel and you will be left with the choice of killing Morinth or Samara.
To be on the safe side, I chose to kill Morinth as I didnt know if chosing Samara will net you the achievement...But thanks to SalaciousPorks, I now know that chosing either will net you the achievement...Once one of them is dead and everyone finishes talking, the achievement should pop. Nice job!

Morinth will impersonate Samara, and no one else will know. She will automatically have Loyalty and her special power, Dominate (Like AI Hacking for organics).

Thanks for the update! Out of interest, if you kill Samara, does Morinth take her place on your team? I imagine that even if she does, she wouldn't be loyal, and would probably die on the suicide mission anyway, so I doubt it.

Her loyalty mission is very tricky.

When you are talking to Morinth make sure to ask her the following things to get her to take you back to her place:
Art – Talk about Vaenia
Music – Talk about Expel 10
Drugs – Say "Like Hallex?"
Travel – Say "I like danger."
Power – Say "Power is its own reward."

This will not gain Samara's loyalty but it it possible to get Morinth on your team instead of Samara.

If your Renegade/Paragon is high enough to not fall for Morinth's tricks. You will be able to contribute to the fight between them.
You will then get the option to kill Samara or Morinth. Choose to kill Samara and Morinth with join your squad and take her place.

Talk to Samara in between missions. She is on the third level of the ship, in the Port Observation room. Loyalty missions will not be available until after the mission on Horizon is completed.

Samara’s loyalty mission will unlock after speaking with her once. After arriving on Omega, head to Afterlife and ask Aria about Samara’s daughter. She’ll tell you to check out the apartment of Morinth’s most recent victim. Look at the girl’s holo-diary. There is also a datapad behind the bed that you need to look at. After formulating a plan with Samara, head for the VIP area of Afterlife. When you get there, mention the name “Jaruut” to the bouncer and go in. When you first enter the club, talk to the guy immediately to your left. He’ll give a piece of info about Morinth.

Now comes the hard part, getting Morinth back to her place. First, you have to get her attention. There are a few things that you’ll have to do. Go to the bar and get the bartender to give a round of drinks to everyone. There is also a krogan there. Insult him. Next, head to the dance floor, find the asari dancing alone, and dance with her. Also on the dance floor, you’ll find a turian harassing an asari. Defend her by getting involved.

Morinth will then approach you. During the conversation, avoid the topics “Justicar” and “Family”. Most of the options that you’ll choose from are on the bottom left. If you choose the wrong option three times, Morinth will leave and you will miss out on this trophy. These are the options that you should choose:

Art – Talk about Forta, and then Vaenia
Music – Expel 10
Drugs – Like Hallex?
Travel – I like danger.
Power – Power is its own reward.

Examine everything that you can in her apartment (making sure to pick up the assault damage upgrade). As Morinth is about to mate with you, Samara will burst in and they will begin to fight. They will reach a stalemate and you’ll have to choose which one you’re going to side with. If you have enough paragon/renegade so that you can perform a charm or intimidate conversation option with Morinth, then you'll be able to side with her. (Thanks to Lord Maim for the info.) Otherwise, you'll have to choose Samara. You can choose either one of them for the trophy. (Thanks to purifico for the info.)

See “Cat’s in the Cradle.

Note: This is actually quite a frustrating mission if you don’t know how to do it correctly. If you fail to catch Morinth or you kill Samara instead of Morinth (requires sufficient alignment to have the option for this), Samara will not become loyal and you will not get the achievement.

Morinth:
The part that most people find challenging is actually getting Morinth to take you back to her apartment. To do this, you must select the correct dialogue options. Most of them are located on the bottom left of the dialogue wheel. Once you enter the VIP area, talk to the guy directly on your left. He will give you some info that you will use while talking with Morinth.

Correct Dialogue Options:

  • Art – Vaenia
  • Music – Expel 10
  • Drugs – Like Hallex?
  • Travel – I like danger.
  • Power – Power is its own reward.

In order for the conversation with Morinth to go exactly as written in the hint, carefully examine the dead girl’s room and listen to all the recordings. I missed the first entry in the diary, as a result, the dialogue thread about Venia did not appear, and all the others led to the failure of the mission. I had to replay it.

At the very end of the Samara loyalty mission (immediately after you kill Morinth) there is a small glitch that helps endlessly “buff” the hero’s points by 2 points (+2). As soon as Samara wants to leave, choose in the dialogue first “Is everything okay?”, then “No, it’s too early.” This way you can level up your hero’s scale. Long and tedious, but easy.

generally so. I missed it on my first playthrough. but even with the second playthrough, especially with the dialogues, it was a bit difficult. what's wrong - I left immediately, I had to reboot several times. at the beginning of the task, when you enter the club from the left, there is a guy standing by the aisle, just talk to him - he will tell you about some tickets for the concert of the group EXILE-10. then you attract attention by simply doing a few tasks, I bought everyone a drink (received hero points), danced, and kicked the annoying guy on the dance floor. he is right in the center at the entrance. Then the conversation with MORINT begins. The first answer is I DON'T KNOW. further in the conversation, it’s okay if you’re the first to talk about JUSTICIARS, she won’t go anywhere.

NEXT I STARTED A TALK ABOUT ART with the following dialogues (your answers)

-ART SPEAKS TO YOU

-WATCH THE THING WITH VIOLENCE

-YOU KNOW ABOUT VIOLENCE

further conversation about TRAVEL with dialogues

-I LOVE DANGER

-POWER IS ITSELF A REWARD

and last but not least I talked about MUSIC.

THIS IS EXACTLY HERE THE ANSWER ABOUT EXILEMENT -10 CAN BE USEFUL

AND THE ANSWER IS LIKE HULK.

BUT DO NOT TALK ABOUT THEIR ANCIENT MUSIC OR TALK ABOUT THE FAMILY.

THIS IS WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT MUSIC VERY CAREFULLY. IF SHE LEAVES, THEN REBOOT BEFORE THE GAME IS AUTOMATICALLY SAVED. AND THEN WHEN ALL THE DIALOGUES HAVE BEEN SPOKEN CORRECTLY, YOU WILL FIND UP WITH MORINTH IN THE ROOM. EVERYTHING HERE IS SIMPLE - AGREE WITH HER ABOUT EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING WILL PASS QUICKLY HERE. AND THE TROPHY IS YOURS
