How to unlock the Power Gamer achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

If this Achievement is left over at the end of the game, you'd probably be better if you rolled over your character into a new playthrough. You keep your level, but lose some equipment. Completing the game gives you a +25% bonus XP on all future experience.The story missions also give much more XP than wrapping up side missions. The first two missions go very quickly, earning you a nice 2500 XP in under an hour. You'll also gain a new power, which can help with some other achievements.

Edit: It's been mentioned to me that, with the plentiful, good DLC, this solution is less important. I'll be leaving it, but the DLC missions provide enough XP to easily reach 30.

Yes, just like in the first, you can replay the game with a completed character at whatever level you were. You will lose most of your equipment, but that's all.

There seems to be a bug related to this achievement that does not allow certain people (including me) to obtain it. The bug's symptom is that the achievement counter remains at 0/30 all the time and the achievement is never awarded. Here is a link to a BioWare forum fro more info: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/107/index/1076558/

My two cents: I just got this achievement with the counter staying at 0/30. I played through the whole game (with an imported ME1 character) doing all side missions etc and finished it at level 29 (doh!). So I started a new game, importing the ME2 character. I finished the first mission on the station and bloop the cheevo popped once I hit level 30. No issues for me thankfully.

I also hit level 30 on the second playthrough. Maybe they fixed the issue?

I imported a lvl 35 from ME1 does this mean I have to go to lvl 65 for the achievement to tick? Or should I start a new character?

**TIP**

You will earn a new level once you complete each mission; you will also gain 40 xp for completing various conversations, alignment actions and hacking. You don’t earn experience for killing enemies so just make sure you complete as many free-roam missions as possible. You shouldn’t have any issues with leveling up unless you try to rush through the main story. It is possible to attain this in one playthrough if you do all the side missions. Avoid talking to the Illusive Man as much as possible until you level up; he will normally give you a mission to do which you have no choice in doing. The mission will start and there only way to end your mission will be to complete it. It takes 1000 experience to level up. Here are the values for each kind of mission: EXP Values: Story Mission: 1000 EXP Loyalty Mission: 750 EXP Anomaly Mission: 125 EXP Miscellaneous Side-mission: 40 EXP Note : Once you have completed Mass Effect 2 , you will earn a 25 % experience bonus on all subsequent characters, making this easier to attain.

Also, you receive that bonus after you complete the main storyline and finish up all of the side missions afterward if you survive. Therefore, the N7 side missions net you 156 EXP everytime, making the achievement a little easier in one playthrough.

You can get this on a second play-through, import your character and you will get 25% experience bonus.

This will probably take you into your second playthrough to reach level 30. Without carrying over a save from Mass Effect, you won't get an initial level boost. Completing story missions does give you enough XP to bump you up a level. Complete as many of the side missions as possibly can as well. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough missions to make it to level 30. If you do everything in the game, you'll end up somewhere between level 25 and level 30. The good thing is that your character can be taken into a second playthrough. If you don't get it on your first run, then you will on your second.

However, it is possible to get this in one run. Do all of the main story missions including Kasumi's and Zaeed's mission. You can do a couple of N7 missions to get the Operative trophy, but no more than that. You'll end up around level 23 or 24. After completing the game, then you'll get an XP boost for each mission. Go back then and complete the Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord, and Firewalker DLC's. Completing these will get you to about level 28 or 29. Now, go and complete N7 missions and sidequests until you reach the magical level 30. You'll have plenty to be able to reach it.

If you save the side missions until after completing the game, then you will get an XP boost for each one. Thanks to BaldWombat for the tip.

It's possible to achieve this on your first play-through if you import a Shepard from Mass Effect 1, Shepard's starting level in ME 2 is dependent on their final level in ME 1.

Shepard's ME 1 level ----> Shepard's Starting ME 2 Level

No Import/Mass Effect Genesis--------> Level 1
1-49---------> Level 2
50-59------> Level 3
60-------> Level 5
(Note that levels 51-60 in ME 1 are only unlocked after beating that game once)

Each Mission awards a certain amount of EXP depending on the type of mission completed.
Without doing any DLC(Including ones that come standard on the PS3 version like Kasumi and Shadow Broker) You can just barely reach Level 30 during the suicide mission if you import a Level 60 ME 1 Shepard.

If for whatever reason you don't reach 30 after doing all Story,Recruitment,Loyalty,N7,and Local quests, Starting a New Game+ will retain Shepard's current level into a new game where more EXP can be earned.

If you somehow have earned the "Long Service Medal" from Either Completing an imported ME 1 or ME Genesis save or ME 2 twice, All characters from this point onward will get a bonus 25% to all Experience gained, with this bonus reaching 30 without any DLC is very doable without having to use New Game+

It takes 1000 experience to level up. Here are the values for each kind of mission:

EXP Values:
Story Mission: 1000 EXP
Loyalty Mission: 750 EXP
Anomaly Mission: 125 EXP
Miscellaneous Side-mission: 40 EXP

Note: Once you have completed Mass Effect 2, you will earn a 25% experience bonus on all subsequent characters, making this easier to attain.

If you did not manage to gain 30 levels in one playthrough, then do not despair (Most players cannot gain more than 28 levels in one playthrough... personally, I did not have 300 experience points before level 30), your character can be transferred to a new game. You will start a new game with an existing character and his level will be the same as the one you finished the game at last time. Several tasks and the trophy is yours.

PS Moreover, when you replay the game you will receive a bonus of +25% to the experience gained for all characters on this account.

The most important trick here is to leave 5-7 small side quests or 1-2 large side quests uncompleted, because after completing the main plot, experience begins to be awarded by 25% more, if 125 points were given for a small side quest, then after completing the game 151 are awarded. 1000 experience will come out to 1250, etc. The main thing to remember is that when you complete ALL the side effects and DLC (excluding “arrival”, I’m not sure if they give you points at all) and the main story, you still won’t have enough of the notorious 300 experience points to reach level 30, provided that you didn’t transfer character from the first part of ME.

Level 30 is the maximum level in the game, after which you will no longer be given skill points. Achieving is quite easy in one playthrough with one character - just explore all galaxies and clusters 100%, open all side quests and complete them. Buy maps of new galaxies on Illium and start exploring them too, there will also be additional tasks. By the end of the game your character will be level 30.

It is quite possible to get the trophy in one playthrough, provided that you imported the character from the first part of the game.

List of all side quests in the game (including those from the DLC).
