How to unlock the Prospector achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is simple. As soon as you gain control of your new ship, fly out to a planet that doesn't have a navigation marker (meaning, you see the planet, but it doesn't say what it is.

Press [A] to enter the orbit of the planet, the press [Y] to scan for minerals. Hold down [LT] and move the cursor until your controller starts to vibrate, then press {RT] to send out a probe that will then collect the minerals. Achievement Unlocked.

This achievement requires you to scan a planet and probe it, To do this go to the galaxy map and go to any planet that you cant land on, scan it and when your scanner starts to go off the scale, send a probe and the achievement will unlock.

One thing to note is that if you don't acquire it after first probing just continue to try, If it still hasn't unlocked clear your Xbox cache and delete your save.

This achievement is plain and simple. When eXploring planets you have the option of scanning planets for minerals and probing them for research. To do this simply travel to a star system and fly to a planet. Press Y to scan the planet for minerals. Press the LT button to begin scanning the planet, when the scanner picks up activity of mineral press the RT to deploy the probe. This will immediately get you the achievement worth 5G!

This trophy unlocks once you navigate to almost any planet in the galaxy, scan it, and launch a probe.

Once you are onboard the Normandy, use the Galaxy Map, and travel to planet which says unexplored. Press the X button to gain orbit of the planet, and then the triangle button to begin the scan.

Use and hold L2 to move the scanner with the left analog stick, until the graph at the right spikes a certain mineral. Press the R2 button to launch a probe and collect the resources. The trophy will then unlock.

This gets really boring doing this throughout the game, and you will need to do it for a lot of the upgrades. Check out the Mass Effect Wikia for more detailed information

At least the devs had some fun with it. Check out the spoiler for an easter egg.

If you leave negative feedback, please explain why so I may correct. Thanks!

In order to research technology on the Normandy, you'll need specific resources. The easiest way to find them is through probing and scanning unexplored planets throughout the galaxy. Find an unexplored planet in any system (the name will be "Unknown"). Make sure that you have probes. If you are out or don't have very many, purchase more from the nearest fuel depot. To start your scanner, hold . On the right side of the screen will be a graph that scans for the four elements that you're looking for, platinum, palladium, eezo, and iridium. When you see a spike in one of those, launch a probe to that spot with . Minerals collected, trophy unlocked.

Most planets will have good stores of palladium, platinum, and iridium. Element zero will be much more difficult to find though. Most planets that are garden or post-garden class will have good stores of element zero. The following planets have a good supply of element zero:

A little advice, save up 150k zero e. and 600k of other resources and forget it, that’s enough with a good remainder.
