How to unlock the Revenge! achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

After purchasing the Cerberus Network go to the extras in the main menu and go to downloadable content. Download Zaeed.

You will be given "Dossier: The Veteran" whenever you acquire the Normandy. Go to Omega and talk to Zaeed to recruit him.

Now for the tricky bit. Zaeed will tell you about this other job he took on before yours. Go to the planet indicated in the quest. Once there, you have to make a choice: Save the workers (paragon) or get revenge (renegade). If you take time to save the workers Vido will get away. In the following scene you must choose the paragon option to get his loyalty (thanks to ShinGlacier).

Saving the workers will take you down a path with more rewards, both in terms of money, resources and research found. Either way you will find the flame thrower. The end of mission bonus is bigger too. But Zaeed will be upset that he didn't get his revenge.

Going for revenge you will find more enemies, less money, resources and research. Either way you will find the flame thrower. The end of mission bonus is smaller as well. Zaeed will get his revenge and you will get his loyalty.

After I get Zaeed - I can't find the planet I need to go to in the Galaxy map. Is there a trick I'm missing, or is it in some other system?

There should be a marker that says "Help Zaeed".

I got Zaeed's loyalty even choosing to save the works. In the end of the mission, when Zaeed is hit and stuck by a pillar i chose the paragons answers and then the achievements popped up...

I recommend doing this loyalty quest last or second to last, because by then you should have high enough paragon to perform the paragon dialogue option if you decide to save the workers.

How high a paragon do you need?

I like SpiredArc's tip about waiting for paragon points. Now if somebody could answer CyberSkull's question about the paragon level required it would be much appreciated.

I managed it with about a 3rd of my paragon bar full. This was helped considerably by the 17 Paragon points I gained after punching Zaeed when prompted and then choosing to save the refinery workers.

@gamerguy45 I don't know if loyalty missions are still available after the suicide mission, however you can start a new game + with you current character and play through again.

I think there is a high paragon check at the end to convince him that you did the right thing by rescuing the workers. If that is not passed, then you may not get the achievement. Otherwise try reloading your save and doing something different.

haha it's too late for that... I've completed the game and have now started my 2nd playthrough (on insanity), but this is a time consuming game and I've got other games to play... one day though... one day.

So you're basically saying if your Paragon is high choose the paragon options and if your Renegade is high choose the renegade. i'm level 27 now and my Renegade is almost topped, I'm buggered if I'm starting a new campaign just to have less enemies and better resources. As long as I get the achievement.

Less enemies, more resources is more for players at the start of the campaign, like I was.

In case anyone didn't know, or didn't purchase this, Cerberus Network is free now on the XBLM.

I did the paragon way with about 3/4 full paragon and couldn't use the action. Did not get achievement, had to reload and do the renegade way

I see my issue - I didn't realize I had to go to the jump portal to find it - I was looking in the main system that I started in. My bad. :-)

I've got a new copy of ME2 and used the code to get Zaeed e some new side missions. Ok so I have played Zaeed's loyalty mission and saved the workers and also saved Zaeed at the end of the mission (the guy he wanted to kill escaped in a ship). Zaeed now appears as 'loyal' in that squad screen. Still I did not get the achievement. Have I done something wrong???

There seems to be a bit confusion regarding this, so I'll clearly outline everything:

First off you'll need the DLC entitled 'The Cerberus Network'. You will receive a card with a code for this after buying ME2 new. Type the code into EA.com and the next time you log in to ME2 you'll have the option to download 'Zaeed's mission'. If you have no code you will have to download it from the Game Marketplace for free.

Downloading this will add Zaeed's location to the Galaxy map, also adding 'Project Firewalker' and 'Normandy Crash Site' missions, along with the powerful shotgun the M22a, a new lightning Heavy Weapon, and a decent but non-customisable Cerberus Armour. The latter are irrelevant to this or any achievements.

Go to the Galaxy map, navigate to the 'Omega System' and find 'Gain the veterans loyalty'. Dock into the Omega station and approach the first guy you see in Omega, Zaeed.

Now as long as you gain Zaeed's loyalty the achievement will pop. He wants revenge so doing his mission Renegade style won't require high renegade, it just requires you choose all the renegade options. You will encounter more hostiles and receive less rewards for Renegade.

You can however do this Paragon style (for extra resources and rewards), you can save the workers but you'll have to have at least a 30%+ Paragon to convince Zaeed you did the right thing and gain his Loyalty.

Once you complete Zaeed's mission the achievement will unlock.

*'Remember do this Renegade if your Paragon is low, and do it Paragon if it's high for better rewards'.

Try these steps again:

1. Download or input the access code again.
2. Select the 'Downloadable Content' option on the main menu.
3. Choose 'Zaeed's Mission' from the Cerberus Network list and click on it.
4. Make sure it has downloaded.
5. Now enter the game and travel to the Omega System, where it says 'Gain the mercenary's loyalty'. Zaeed should be standing near the entrance, if he isn't try backing out to the main menu and downloading again.

This is a missable achievement.

First time you talk to Zaeed, you will get his loyalty mission. In order to get the achievement, choose to go after Vido instead of saving the refinery workers. However, if your Paragon/Renegade is high enough, you have access to the dialogue options which would allow you can save the workers (paragon route) and still have Zaeed become loyal to you.

Unfortunately this has never been obtainable. The associated DLC was a broken mess and unplayable, rendering this achievement impossible to unlock.

You can do this mission at any time after Freedom's Progress and before you travel through the Omega-4 relay.

After completing Freedom's Progress, the Illusive Man will give you dossiers for the first four crew members to recruit. Zaeed will become available at that point. He is on Omega. When you arrive on Omega, Zaeed is just ahead of where you begin. Speak to him and you'll get his loyalty mission.

This mission is pretty straightforward. It’s all combat and linear. The main difference between the paragon and renegade choices is what each one leads to. Renegade nets you and assault rifle upgrade and the paragon choice gets you a heavy weapon upgrade. Choose whichever one suits you the best. Either path will gain Zaeed's loyalty, but if you go with the paragon path, you'll need enough paragon points to persuade and talk him down.
