How to unlock the The Archangel achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is earned after you destroy the attacking Blue Suns Gunship. You can make this fight a lot easier in two ways.

Renegades can kill the Blue Suns Sergeant before the Assault on Archangel's Base with a Renegade interrupt that sees Sheperd sticking an electrical welding tool into the Batarians back.

Engineers and Infiltrators have the advantage of the Incinerate ability. The gunship has no health, only armour, and armour is weak to Incinerate.

Mordin too has this ability so if you are a paragon adept then bringing Mordin along is a big help.

Combine above techniques for an easy fight. For example a Renegade Engineer with Mordin will find this fight easy even on the harder difficulties.

Archangel is also known as Garrus.

This achievement should come normally throughout story progression, To get this achievement it requires you to recruit Garrus into your party. You can acquire Garrus into your squad by completing his recruitment mission "Dossier: Archangel".

This will be one of the first four dossiers that the Illusive Man gives you. Archangel is hiding out on Omega, head there to begin your recruitment. Once again, you start out at Afterlife talking to Aria. She'll tell you that the Blue Suns are recruiting to hunt down Archangel. Find the recruiter in Afterlife and sign up. Leave the club and go to the right to get to the transport hub. When you land, your driver will tell you to find Sergeant Cathka. On your way to Cathka, if you find the heavy mech, then rewire it. It'll help you later. After you find the sergeant, kill the freelance mercs and get to Archangel.

After you see an old friend, prepare to defend yourself. The gangs want Archangel dead, so the waves are coming. Stay in cover and use your sniper rifle to take out as many as you can from long range. After you kill Jaroth, you'll be forced to split up from Archangel and head down into the basement to close some blast doors. After closing both, you will have to take on a few more waves of enemies. After defeating them, destroy Tarak’s gunship to end the mission.

Complete the mission on Omega to recruit the Archangel. After saving him at the end of the story, the trophy is yours
