How to unlock the The Ultimate Sacrifice achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

Well, this one is self-explanatory. You can play on Casual, but beware of something important : if you're a completionist, you cannot get all the "collectables" like cash and resources and audio logs while going for the stealth achievement. To do both, save and reload when I will tell you in my third achievement walkthrough.

All collectables :

First mission :

Heavy weapons ammo upgrade in the corner room, hidden behind the flames before going up.
400 cr in the same room.
Audio log in the same room.
400 cr in the room after the 2 first guards.
400 Iridium in the room left of that, BEFORE jumping down.
Ammo in the corner, behind the next 2 guards.
Audio log in the room with the 2 guards.
400 cr in the same room.
Health pack under the elevator after you send it back up.
Data pad in the same place.
1000 cr in the room where you rescue Dr. Kenson.
Health pack and ammo down the next stairs.
Ammo on the floor and on some crates in a corner in the next room.

Second mission :

Heavy weapon ammo on the left in the landing room.
450 Palladium behind your shuttle.
1050 cr when you examine the console right of the door, same room.
525 Palladium just before the second door you have to open.

Great list of collectibles, but you left off a medi-gel upgrade you can get in the first mission. Its in the corner of the hanger where use the vehicle lift to get downstairs. You need to move the middle crate with the crane switches to get it though.

There is research for Heavy Skin Weave during the second mission, as you are heading towards the Comm Array before leaving the compound.

There is no achievement for doing it, but here is a link to a full run through of The Arrival, on the hardest difficulty with full commentary. It should be useful for anyone struggling (if anyone is).

Hope this helps.

Noticed no one mentioned it for this DLC here yet. If your having a problem getting the mission after downloading the DLC,

Remember, you must have Disc 2 in to have it give you the mission. after you place Disc 2 in just walk up to the private terminal and you will get the message.

You cannot access this mission until after Horizon.
@Milky: You can find it at the BOTTOM of the Galaxy Map, on the edge.

I had this problem when I had completed the game before downloading the DLC. when I went back to complete this after, I couldnt get the mission until I put in Disc 2. If this is not true anymore they must have patched it.

But If you downloaded all DLC's before playing through, it may not be a problem. Let me know

Story-based and unmissable.

The two main parts of this DLC are listed in guide for in the other two achievements, but for those of us who love to collect Asturgis has provided us with a very handy collectibles guide.

Story related. If you want more info, continue reading. Otherwise, know that this will unlock through the natural progression of the story. You can begin Arrival after you have completed the mission on Horizon.

The mission begins with Shepard being contacted by the Alliance and asked to rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson. She has discovered a Reaper artifact, but in the process of researching it was captured by the Batarians. The details of the first two parts of the DLC can be found in Covert Action and Last Stand in that order. This summary will pick up after those two sections are completed.

After awakening, head to the mech control console to take control of a LOKI mech. Kill the technician and then the other LOKI mechs that approach. Cross into the room across the way and blow up the equipment to free Shepard. Collect your armor and weapons before moving on. The next several rooms are all filled with various enemies. You'll have some standard guards mixed in with elite guards and pyros.

You'll eventually reach a communication station where you'll be given a choice to contact the Batarian colonists or the Normandy. The choice doesn't affect the outcome of the DLC (although, it may have an effect in Mass Effect 3). It's just a paragon choice. Whichever you decide to try and contact, your call will be blocked and you will be informed that the station's reactor is about to meltdown.

Make your way down into the station's core. Your goal is to reinsert two coolant rods into the reactor. Again, you'll have to repeatedly fight through the same enemies in every room. Once both rods are back in place and the meltdown is averted, you'll have a final confrontation with the Project's leaders. At the tail end of the confrontation, an explosion will go off and Shepard will be knocked out.

When Shepard regains consciousness, collision with the Alpha Relay will be imminent. After trying to call the Normandy, Shepard discovers that communications are down and your only chance of escape is to reach the communications tower. Upon reaching the exterior of the station, the final group of enemies you'll face are another group of guards and another YMIR mech. After they are defeated, reactivate the communications tower and call the Normandy. After a brief interaction with Harbinger, the Normandy arrives to get you off the asteroid just in time.
