How to unlock the Fastball achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide

This guide is based on a discovery by Vash8806,I take no credit for it,I'm just posting this for people who might not have read the comments on the other guide for this achievement.

Ok so to get these throws to actually count you need to be using throw at a short range to your target, about 3-5 feet away.Attempts from longer distances don't seem to count for some reason. To recap and clarify: Unlock the 'Pull' & 'Throw' abilities in Biotics, use 'Pull' but keep the button held in so it pulls the enemy to you, then line up a target at 'POINT BLANK RANGE' (the closer the better) & the use 'Throw' to take out your target.Shielded enemies can't be 'pulled' or 'thrown' so only do this on enemies with just a red health bar.If you hit 2 enemies in the same throw it will count for 2.This is still not foolproof, the odd attempt will not count but if it doesn't then you probably weren't close enough.

I hope this clarifies things for people & once again, all credit goes to Vash8806 for making this discovery through trial & error.

This is good to know. I can easily remember hitting more enemies than my counter has tracked, so if it has to be point blank the number seems much more accurate. Thank you!

It seems to be glitched, in a good way, basically I used this method but I have the radius upgrade on pull and I managed to pick up 2 guys and an explosive canister, when I used throw, all three things went flying at someone and the achievement popped on my first throw.

Nice one Zacca, I seem to remember on one throw of mine my progress shot up by about 35% so it is a bit funky.

This only seems to register when you see a cross icon when the two enemies collide. I've thrown some guys in close range and it hasn't registered if the cross hasn't popped up.

Does anyone know if it makes any difference whether the enemy you throw dies, or if the target enemy has shields/armour etc? Just trying to narrow down why it doesn't always work.

Unsure why it's a bit inconsistent.I tried a few different approaches and from what I remember I don't think a kill is required just a successful contact. The 'cross' you mention is a hit marker & therefore I think only throws that result in a hit marker (cross) count.

I had the same experience as Zacca. I was at 64%, my next Pull picked up one enemy and two canisters; I threw them all at a couple of Adhi and my achievement popped right after the explosion.

I have just thrown 52 enemies into enemies from different distances and not one single throw counted :') how they mess this up

Wow Fexiq that sucks! Not heard that from anyone else, all I can suggest is trying in a different area with different enemies & doing it literally point blank range ( if you haven't already) I got it on Kett & in an actual story mission.

Finally got this last night. Although I definitely got a couple of "long distance" throws to count early on Eos, I noticed that after those instances only close range or point blank throws worked. The best place I found was on Havarl, and was achieved by grabbing the creatures that are similar to the Kett wraiths (4 legged creatures that have active camo). You tend to encounter them in groups of between 2 and 5 at a time so you can let them approach to attack you then grab one with pull once they come out of cloak, and then throw it at any others that are right in front of you. Then just evade until your powers cool down and do it again.

Can confirm that you have to be pretty stupidly close to the enemy that you're throwing the other enemy at for it to count. Either Havarl or Kadara are decent places to do this. And also, it may seem like common sense, but make sure you direct both of your squadmates away from enemies so that they don't kill them before you can throw them.

I've gotten these to register from long distance. All you need is for the health bar to be visible. There isn't a range cap: it's just very finicky.

SmokingBmbr465 it would appear you're in a minority of 1 because I had no joy at all from distance whether I could see the health bar or not, they may have tweaked it in a patch but I don't remember seeing it in patch notes.

I just got this randomly while not being anywhere close to having the criteria met. It's definitely a bit buggy right now. I was standing very close to the people I was throwing enemies at, and a few times a canister or something else would get sucked into my pull so I would end up throwing 2 people and a canister or 2, and after doing a few of those it got me the achievement. The canisters exploded and killed/hit a ton of people too, so I wonder if that has something to do with the count. I got it all on the planet Elaaden

Can confirm you can get it do almost instantly unlock if you pull one together with a canister and get a kill, I got a fire combo and it unlocked. Had only done 1 pull and throw that hit before that.

Thank heavens for this tip!! I was getting so frustrated about this not working at all, but I was doing everything at a distance and as soon as I started running up for the point-blank throw it worked. I also seem to have gotten the explosive canister positive glitch - went from about 60% to unlocked after a throw where a canister had gotten roped into my pull.

Popped on my 1st one, I was on Havarl and threw one into another at point blank but there was a barrel or something there too, I got a fire combo, diet, and it popped laugh

I can agree with what was stated above. My tracker went from about 70% to completion whenever I threw someone with an explosive container attached.

I did all of these on Liam's loyalty mission, from 0% to complete. Lots of unshielded enemies, a few explosive canisters. It was easy enough - recommend having as much reduced cool down as possible for pull and throw.

Solution is simple. Make sure you have the biotic powers "Pull" and "Throw". When an enemy has only the red health bar left, press and hold your "Pull" button. This will pull the enemy up to you. When you have a clear sight of another enemy, hit the "Throw" button. This will throw the enemy you have at the enemy you are pointing at. As long as they collide, it will count. Rise and repeat 24 more times and BLEEP BLOOP.

Tip from Vash8806 for those of you were this is not tracking: "pull an enemy (holding the button, of course), get right up in your target's face, then use throw."

It seems as though this isnt getting tracked by people using this strategy from a distance. Just grab your guy. Bring him to his friend. Make them kiss.

Yea, same here. Counts every once in a while but mostly not. Doesn't seem to matter if the enemies are shielded, armored, or regular health bars.

Vash, you're totally right! Been trying to get this one all day from a distance but then I move in close and progress is tracking. Thanks for the tip!

Probably add that to the solution?

Confirmed you need to be close. About 5 feet away is good. No need to be right on top of the enemy. Spamming a checkpoint it's going pretty fast.

The entire time I was doing Voeld's critical path mission, I was pulling and throwing every enemy I could. Unfortunately, like many who have already commented, nothing was counting for me. Two grabs and a hit against a unshielded enemy? Nothing. A single grab against a shielded enemy? Again, nothing. I even tried respeccing so only one point was in each, as I originally had both pull and throw at rank 4. Unfortunately, still nothing.

I realized something today, though. I've only ever been using pull and throw while at a distance. So, today, while finishing up my side missions on Voeld, I started pulling and throwing enemies while up close and personal. Like, I hit my intended target within a second or two of using throw. It didn't register all the time, but I was able to unlock this achievement while clearing out an area for a mission. Even better, I think double pull counts for two, so long as both pulled enemies strike a living target (even if they both hit the same enemy).

Tl;dr: pull an enemy (holding the button, of course), get right up in your target's face, then use throw.

I hope this works for everyone. The description of the achievement is super ambiguous, as other suggestions have said, the distance is super short like 3 to 5 ft.

A great area to do this is in Havarl's wilderness because there are a lot of Charyllions that you just can spam pull-throws until the achievement pops.

Activate your achievement tracker and you'll see that the impacts take between 2 and 4 seconds to register. I discovered this randomly because I'm in my 2nd playthrough (1st was on PC) while doing the quest of scanning the mutated creatures.

Give it a try! smile

Found a nice quick way to get this achievement. Rank up your pull skill to level 4 and get the upgrade that allows you to pull multiple enemies at once. Once you have that unlocked and both pull and throw equipped, just find groups of enemies that are on red health (no armour and shields). Target a group of 2 enemies and hold down whatever button you have pull bound to to drag both enemies towards you. When they are hovering right in front of you, use your throw ability. The 2 enemies will hit each other in the air multiple times, as well as any other enemies you throw them towards. I was getting 3-5 hits on the tracker every time and got the achievement very quickly just playing through the story with the 2 skills equipped.

This one is really easy to get. Make sure that you have Pull and Throw skills enabled in your skill tree.

All you have to do then, is Pull an enemy (shielded enemies wont work) and use Throw while aimed at another enemy. You will know you hit them when you see a big red X signifying the hit between enemies.

Do this 25 times for the trophy.

Pull an enemy by holding a pull button. Can't believe I played through this game without realizing there's difference with pressing and holding the button

This trophy can only be earned in single player.

You will need to use the Pull (Biotic Skill tree) and Throw (Biotic Skill tree) together to attempt this trophy. Holding the Pull button allows you to suspend unshielded enemies above ground beside you, and pressing the Throw button flings the enemy wherever you aim at. So Pull enemies toward you, and use Throw to fling them at other enemies by aiming at them 25 times to unlock this trophy.

Note: Make sure to throw enemies onto foes that are relatively closeby, as it won't count if the enemies are at a medium distance and farther.

Use the Pull biotic ability to grab and hold one enemy, and then use the Throw biotic ability to aim that first enemy at a second one. Do this 25 times!

21 Mar 2024 00:00

You will need the "Pull" (Biotic) and "Throw" (Biotic) skills to unlock this achievement. You can only pull enemies once their shields and/or armor have been removed (and it still won't work on some enemies), so once you see an enemy of this type, press and HOLD the button that Pull is mapped to. While pulling the enemy (they'll float next to you), aim at a different one and PRESS the button that Throw is mapped to. If they collide, you will see a small biotic explosion. Repeat 24 more times to unlock. Must be done in SP.

NOTE: You could technically get this with only the "Throw" ability and wait for enemies to line up on their own, but it's much less effective than Pulling them first and being able to aim.

NOTE 2: The tracking on this doesn't seem to work unless you're very close to the enemy you throw at. Grab someone and then walk right up in another enemy's face to make sure it counts.

We pull him towards us, hold down the “Pull” activation button, point it at the enemy and press “Throw”

On foreign forums they write that you need to be close to the enemy you are throwing at. Throws from far away do not count.

Don't mislead people. ENEMIES DO NOT NEED TO DIE ON COLLISION.
It is enough to be at close range. And one more aspect. If you have done it more than 25 times, and the trophy still does not fall, then you most likely have a bug with progress. You just need to restart the game.

I unlocked "thrust" and used it only 3 times and the trophy dropped. Possibly, “knocked back” also includes enemies that fly away from your actions (explosions) and accidentally hit other enemies.

When knocking out a trophy, you can also “grab” seriously wounded enemy soldiers and throw them at others. Only those who died in a collision are counted.

PS I also want to add that the statistics are saved even after your death, if you look carefully you can see a “save icon” when loading after death, so if you find what you think is a good place to farm one of the cumulative trophies (whether it’s a jumping kill, a melee battle, combo, etc.) you can safely die and start over from the checkpoint (only with missions and some tasks!), the enemies will be reborn, and the count will continue.

Let me add that both the thrown opponent and the one we throw at count towards the count (provided that after the collision both die). That is, you will need to throw the enemy at another not 25 times, but less.
I got the trophy on the 13th throw.

You need to equip two biotic abilities: Thrust and Throw.
First, we pull the enemy towards us by holding down the Pull button, then we aim at the enemy and press the Throw skill.
It is best to aim at enemies without armor or shields.

It is not necessary to kill with this combination of skills. Be sure to throw one enemy at another at close range. If you throw from far away, it will not count.

I would like to add. If your enemies are not counted, although you are doing everything correctly, then try to complete the achievement on Ghosts and similar mobs (ala dog). I only had this type of enemy counted.
