How to unlock the Rich achievement in Mass Effect - Definitive Guide

This one is simple, just save your money. Do a few side quests or a main storyline quest, then make sure and equip the best stuff you are carrying (as well as upgrades) then sell all the rest. Surveying planets and finding the minerals while exploring planets will also help. After doing only the main Feros planet and about 20-25 sidequests i had over 800,000 credits, so just a few more or another main plotline would net the achievement after selling off my goods.

So you should be able to get this no problem in your first playthrough if you do a lot of sidequests. The only thing i spent my money on were the unique items i found in shops (medi gel upgrades, weapon license, etc.)

Note: If when you reach 1 million credits and the achievement doesn't unlock try going to a store and selling something when you have over 1 million credits. Thanks to Gnemlock for the tip.

Yeah, this is very easy, as long as you sell all of your excess goods (or even just most, keeping some for omni-gel).

After Noveria, I sold enough items to give me 700k.

I simply did the main plot line along with side missions I ran into, and had well over the 1 mil after Virmire; however, the achievement did not unlock.

To unlock this achievement, you need to sell something and have over 1mil credits. Having the 1mil based off mission completion does not unlock the achievement.

In my one playthrough I did 45 assignments along with the main storyline and sold off everything after equiping my best stuff to me and my squad.

I always kept 1 upgrade of each type and I actually maxed out credits at 999,999,999 and maxed out omni-gel at 999.

This should really be 9,999,999 to mean anything, I assumed it was 10,000,000 till I counted the 0's. Got the blee-bloop and was like /what?/

For me I was over 1,000,000 and I got no pop. I was in the middle of a mission and it popped after I killed an enemy.

Agreed. I have only done Feros, plus a lot of sidequests. I just started Bring Down the Sky, and about a third of the way through it, I started running into the 150 item limit. After I upgraded everything I could, I made a save just in case, went back to the Citadel, and sold everything else back to the Doctor (I had intended to do the infinite credit glitch, but didn't need to). I wound up with about 1.1MM credits. Easy as pie.

I got this last night and wasn't even trying. Been playing a Tech/Renegade character and got this even before starting Feros/Noveria. I've just been surveying and doing side quests, as well all weapons I win from defeated enemies and boxes. Easy as pie, I tell ya.

After rescuing Liara with my Infiltrator character, I've only been doing side missions (lucrative surveying included), equipping the best of what loot I come across, selling anything over 1,000 credits and reducing the rest to omni-gel. I exceeded 1 million credits fairly quickly. Sold everything to the requisitions officer aboard the Normandy so I don't have to travel anywhere in particular if I need to buy anything back .

This achievement may seem daunting, especially when you are at a lower level and scanning keepers for 30 credits, but it is actually one of the easiest. What you have to understand is that you earn more money per kill/mission/scan as your level increases. And the increase in earnings is ridiculous. Killing a regular Geth trooper at level 50 nets you 10 000 credits. You get even more for completing missions and killing stronger enemies. Therefore, if you want to spend money, go nuts. It doesn't make sense to resist buying that 2000 credit gun at level 5 when 2000 credits becomes less than a penny later on. At level 50, having completed most assignments, I have 10 000 000, and I don't know how I could spend it all if I wanted to. Don't bother with the infinite money glitch - far easier to earn the money naturally.

This trophy should come somewhat naturally. A million credits is not as daunting a number as it may seem.

While on a planet with the Mako, take the time to complete each planet. Search for minerals (probably the biggest source of income), look for anamolies and other markers. Complete side missions and fight enemies. You will also obtain credits from enemies after defeating them. Many quest givers will give you credits once their quests have been completed. You may also be able to persuade getting more credits from certain NPCs by using your Paragon/Renegade options.

Finally, selling stuff comes into play as another huge money maker. If you've been putting your points into Renegade, you will get bonuses which allow items to be sold at a higher rate than normal. This can help if you need it (but you shouldn't). Just sell any duplicates of items you have and items you won't use. If you've been taking the time to complete the game, you'll get this through normal story progression easily.

This achievement is much easier than it sounds, as money is very abundant in this game. Go through everything you can find pick up as many items as you can, and sell whatever you're not using. Also, doing side-quests also gives you money, so do as many as you can as well.

When you get this achievement, you gain access to the Spectre weapons, available in the C-Sec surplus store. These are the best weapons in the game, so be sure to buy as many as you can.
