In Demolition Derby make sure you are in the last place. Wait till the 45 seconds timer are a few seconds before it finish and you will see the crossbones over your car. Now crash into a other car so you aren't in last place anymore. If done correctly you will be continue and a KI driver will be out, getting you the achievement.

Took a few tries but I did it. I had to give myself more of a point lead in order to "catch up" to the person ahead of me

Can be done in Career once you're in a Demolition event. What you have to do is be in the last position and when the timer is down to 5 seconds, quickly move to a upper position to climb out of elimination.
