How to unlock the Multiplayer: Fire Controller achievement in Medal of Honor - Definitive Guide

In Multiplayer Mode, you will need to earn a score chain of 600 points in a single life, to earn all 'Score Chain Rewards' a.k.a.(Support Action). A score chain is the number of points you accumulate in one life. Points are earned from kills and by capturing objectives.

:: Examples ::
Kill 10p (Bonus Variations: Headshot +5p, Melee Kill +5p, Savior Kill +5p, Revenge Kill +5p, Tier 1 Kill +5p), Double Kill 30p, Capture Objective 30p, etc.

Chain enough points together and you'll be awarded the Score Chain Reward within each Offensive Tier.
Defensive chain rewards do not count toward this achievement

Tier 1: 50p chain - Mortar Strike
Tier 2: 100p chain - Rocket Strike
Tier 3: 175p chain - Guided Missile Strike
Tier 4: 250p chain - Artillery Strike
Tier 5: 350p chain - Strafing Run
Tier 6: 450p chain - Airstrike / Bomb Run
Tier 7: 600p chain - Cruise Missile

Tier 8: x2 XP ...however not required for this achievement.
***WARNING*** Be sure to use the Cruise Missile before you reach Tier 8, otherwise you lose it!

Your 'Score Chain' progress appears on the lower right of your screen and starts at '00 / 50' indicating that you need 50p to reach the first Tier reward. Deploy rewards by pressing 'cn_left' on the D-Pad.
Effectively using the rewards can significantly increase your score chain and may even unlock the next tier reward, so try to use them strategically. ...focus on the spawn point... After each support action is deployed once, the achievement will unlock at the end of the round.
You do not have to deploy all of the rewards in the same round. If you have previously deployed reward Tiers 1-3, then opt to take the 'Defensive' action for those, by pressing 'cn_right' on the D-Pad. You will receive the defensive support action, along with a score chain bonus. This bonus boosts you closer or even into the next Tier reward, depending how close you are to it..

Best to play as Recon class on Combat Mission, as this is the longest of all the game modes.

If you die, your score chain is broken and will reset back to 0.

How to boost:

Requirements
---------------------
Time: 3-4hrs
Game Mode: Sector Control
Gamers: 24, split into 4 parties of 6, with 1 gamer being the messenger.
(The messenger will be the one jumping from party to party relaying tactics to drive randoms from the game. You need to have everyone on the same page for this. ...so if you need to tell one side not to spawn, you can do so.)
ClanTag: TA
(***Important*** This is to identify boosters from randoms)
Method
-----------
Monopolize a game of 'Sector Control'.

1. The host will create a play group and invite each party leader to it, then search for a game of 'Sector Control'. Once a game is found, be sure to have at least 1 party leader on each side.
2. Have all remaining gamers join their party leader's game in progress, from the 'Play with friends' in-game menu, as spots become available.
3. Continue to create spots in the game for the others to fill. There are a number a ways to do this. (i.e., Not spawning, Follow and shoot a team member, Block his view, etc.) Just be creative until the random gets pissed off enough to find another lobby.
4. Once all 24 spots in the match are owned, meet up at Bravo..
5. Alternate securing the flag at Sector B. (with everyone at Bravo, you will not have to worry about accidentally calling in offensive support actions on top of other players on the map.)
6. Call in all offensive support actions toward the edge of the map. If you see 'DANGER CLOSE', DO NOT call it in. It will kill you and everyone around you. Take your time, don't rush.

Good luck!

This is also a great way to boost XP. Once the achievement is earned, keep selecting the 'Defensive Support' action 'cn_right' for XP. Eventually you will reach the 8th Tier reward which is 'Double XP'

So, basically do you just need to get all 'Kill Streaks' (if you want to call it that) in a single life? You have probably mentioned it in your guide, i have just not noticed it :D

Wow okay I was playing hardcore Combat mission and I was doing really well. I got all the way to the airstrike which I never had before so my heart was pounding. I layed it down and it killed about 4 enemies and i saw the cruise missle pop up but as soon as i went to deploy that it said my previous kill streak killed to many friendlies and kicked me from the game. Something else worth mentioning is that extreme long range shots count for huge points. I've managed to get 35-50 points in a single kill sniping on helmund valley

I would like to boost this achievement. Along with a bunch of other ones. Invite me: Aevx (If you have a party set up & need someone). Otherwise, not easy to boost. Not tactical insertions in this game. Ugh.

Would Hardcore work as another game mode? Seems like there's only 300+ players playing MOH on a daily basis, but less than 10 playing HC lol

Hardcore should work just fine, as long as there's enough players to start the match.

You don't have to get all of the 'Kill Streaks' in a single life, you just have to use all of them, atleast once. For example... you obtain your first reward which is the Mortar Strike and you call it in, then you happen to die. Your score chain will reset back to 0. ...so, you begin building your score chain again. You get enough points for the Mortar Strike. This time you don't have to call it in, because you already did once before. Doesn't matter if you use the reward in the same game, prior game, or even last week. As far as the achievement is concerned, you are done with that offensive reward. At this point, it is best to take the defensive reward by hitting 'Right' on the D-Pad, instead of 'Left' for the Mortar Strike. Doing so will give you the defensive reward plus a score chain bonus of +30pts, which will help you earn the next 'Kill Streak / Reward' ...just remember, it's your score chain that resets in a single life. The rewards carry over to your next life. Hope that helps.

For all those wondering, you DO NOT have to use all the offensive bonuses in one round. If you have done them before, your best bet is to use the defensive version to give you that boost to the next streak (around 50 points excluding the uav which is 30)

The easiest route to the Cruise Missile would be: UAV - Match Ammo - Guided Missile - FMJ - Counter Intel - Airstrike - Cruise Missile

Yea i am, unless you get a triple kill with a offensive kill streak you will receive the same amount of points. The guided missile and air strike almost guarantee this.

When using the defensive kill streak if your whole team is alive you will get 70 points (just press back to check)

After the forth defensive streak used, you receive bonus points

Achievement obtained on 10.15.2010.

Game type: Combat Mission
Class: Sniper (M24, High Powered Scope, Range Finder, Extra Mags)
Map: Helmand Valley
Side: Attacking

I was having a hard time trying to get this since my connection is not the best. I thought I would add my two cents to aid anybody in the future. This is how I went about it.

Hide behind the big rock directly in-front of spawn. There is an ammo box a little bit further north if you run out of ammo. It is best to wait for the next objective before going for it, because you probably will die trying.

Take your time and make your shots count. When the next objective is active, this is the perfect time to call in your air-strikes. The spawning at this location is ridiculous. I usually can get my score to 500-550 after I used everything.

If you are lucky you will already have your cruise missile. If not, continue down the dirt path and climb up on a couple of rocks on the left side( a lot of people go here for sniping). Here you will be able spawn camp and get your final points.

Good Luck!

You can boost this with another friend. All you have to do is be on separate teams and snipe your friend with a head-shot from the longest distance possible. Shouldn't take more than 3-6 kills.

How to get the Mortar Strike, Rocket Attack, Missile, Artillery, Strafing Run, Air Strike and Cruise Missile Offensive Support Actions.

Number of people required: 2
Game Type: Combat Mission
Class: Any
Kit: Suppressor fitted to a weapon
Maps: Shahikhot Mountains
Mazar-I-Sharif Airfield
Helmand Valley

Requirement
1. You (who wishes to get the achievement) need to be on the defending side.
2. You will then need to get a friend on the other side.
Either:
a) Join a game together and you may be put on opposite sides
b) If you join a game together and are on the same side, take note of a Gamer Tag of a player who is on the other side, leave the game, go-to the recently played with “Players” Tab and find the Gamer Tag you took note of and select “Join Session in Progress” (This may take some time as the sides fill up very quickly)
3. You will then need to get behind the attacking side (and hide) before they reach the 3rd Objective on the maps as:
a) Enemy covered choke points will stop you moving through.
b) You may run out of time.
4. Once you are hidden and the attackers have passed through your partner can return to your location where you can kill him (rinse and repeat) to obtain the scorechains for the achievement (and subsequently the offensive support actions)

The best locations to hide are:

Shahikhot Mountains – Before the 1st Objective is taken - In the rocks at the very edge of the map, downslope of the crashed helicopter.

Mazar-I-Sharif Airfield – After the 2nd Objective is taken – To the left of the first hanger (as you are looking at it) on top of some wooden spindles.

Helmand Valley – Before the 2nd Objective is taken – In some small bushes or in the shade of some trees (preferably behind the enemy base).

Notes:

1. Always select defensive support action until you reach the required offensive support option you wish to use.
2. You only have to deploy (not kill any enemies) the offensive support action for it to count toward the achievement.
3. If the enemy team is capturing objectives quickly your partner will have further to run back to you. Therefore you may have to move closer to the action.
4. Enemies can spawn on your partner – To counteract this have him run backwards towards you. The enemies spawning on him will always spawn facing the same direction he is and therefore you are less likely to be seen.
5. Make sure you can identify your partner, confirm what skin he is using– If multiple enemies spawn there should be less chance of you killing the wrong player.
6. Resist killing players other than your partner-They will go looking for you once they respawn.
7. Stay in cover and move as little as possible-Small bushes, under the shade of trees and in between rocks-The majority of times other players will run past
8. A UAV could be put up by the enemy giving away your location – Deploy the Jammer defensive support action as soon as possible.
9. Shooting could give away you location – Use a weapon fitted with a suppressor or preferably a knife or axe.

Credit also goes to Mercandirty for working this out

Other solutions outline the requirements for the acheivement I am going to offer an alternative boosting method which requires only 6 gamers.

All credit goes to The Super Geek No 1 and Paulsmall 007 over on xbox 360 acheivements for the method

Ok to start with you will want one group of four to party up under 'Play from Friends' option and search for 'Sector Control.' Once you find your own lobby with just you 4 in the other 2 (or more) can join via 'join session in progress' through recent players. Make sure the 2 people joining are out of party chat and are off your friends list. This is because I had problems with us all ending up on the same team at one point.

Once you are all in the method is the same as with 24 gamers, pick a flag on the map and all head there and alternate capturing the flag to get points for fire controller to call in your offensive support actions. This method can also be used to rank up XP for Tier 1. You can average 3000 XP every 15 minutes (assuming no randoms)

Things to note:
1. Firstly and most importantly is the time of day to attempt this in order to get your own lobby. The recommended time is around 0000 GMT UK (6/7 pm in US) when the server has more people on it.
2. Randoms! If randoms do join your game. At the end of the match (matches last 15 minutes) have 2 (or more if necssary) people leave the game. The trick here is you need at least 6 people to start a game. So the randoms should get bored and leave. The other players can then rejoin as appropriate. It is also recommended you have maximum of 8 gamers doing this as it is less likely randoms will join.

I will attach the link from x360a for reference:

Thanks for reading and good luck!

This is a newer video that came out Jul 27, 2011. It's by far the best and easiest way to get Fire Controller. I used this lastnight and it worked like a charm!

Biggest requirement is you have to have unlocked the High Power Scopes for the Sniper Class. You unlock them at level 7. You also have to get the Helmand Valley map in MP which is hard as you cannot pick them. I just quit to the MP screen and tried Combat Mission again and again till I got it.

I watched the video a few times to see exactly where he was standing. I got the achievement on my second time trying his method.

Also this is HIS awesome method and I take no credit for it. I just wanted to get it on here. I've done this achievement 2 times now on 360 and PS3 and I know how much of a pain this one is.

It's also an awesome way to get XP when working on getting to level 15 for the Multiplayer: Tier 1 achievement.

Hello Guys,

I`m having a lot of trouble with this achievement. Played legit for 13 hours and the maximum I got was TIER 4.

This is the video that helped some friends. Watch and try to do the same !

Have a lot of communication with your friend. Keep your eye on the radar. It`s not easy since there are a lot of players playing this game yet.

Try to get this:

GAME MODE: Team Objective
SCENARIO: Kabul City Ruins
TEAM : Defender

Play on the Helmand map as the US. Sniper with high powered scope (available after L7) with rangefinder and open tip ammo. Playing as the US gives you bonus scores for headshotting at a greater distances.

At the start of the map run right, past the flag and you will see a boulder with a tree in front. Grenade the tree as you are running to it. Get right behind the boulder (you'll know its the correct one as you will be against an invisible wall).

Objective 1 - as you are close you only get standard points for kills so you can try and get some early or you can wait it out but that doesnt help your squad get the objective! Dont worry if other players are right up against your left as they will probably get shot (and kindly leave you some ammo when they die!).

Objective 2 - Stay where you are! stand up to look toward the 2nd objective and focus your shots at both sets of buildings (and in between). Only look up for a second or two as you run the risk of getting sniped by experienced snipers. Now you are at a good range your headshot kills will bag you a lot more points. 1 kill should get you enough points to call defensive or offensive strikes. Go with what your good at. I basically stook with defensive ones as I often only got 1 kill with each offensive! (you will probably be better than me and could even get to the cruise missile on this objective).

Objective 3 - This is where you should be getting up to the cruise missile. From objective 1 run on the right side of the map up to the building (objective 2). Collect ammo on the way if needed and watch out for lurkers! At the building look to the right and you should be able to see a ledge which you can jump on. From there you should be able to get a few nice shots in (remember offensive if your confident or defensive like me except for the 2 missile type strikes which mark up the enemy.

Objective 4 - If I remember rightly you can also get kills from the spot at objective 2.

Objective 5 - run behind objective 3 to watch over objective 5. Its quite hard to make out the enemy from there but you can some kills in.

Good luck and you WILL get it but you may need to be on a good team and not playing against high ranked opposition,

I just used the YouTube method by Phil Witherby a few days ago and it does work . I did get to the cruise missile yet never used the Artillery or Air Strike/Bomb Run!

Now for the bad news. I tried it again the next night and was playing with many MOH veteran players. It didn't work. Those guys knew the spot and counter sniped all match long. I guess you just have to get lucky with a game full of newer players. The Veteran players will not let it fly and will hunt you down.

EDIT (12-19-12) : I completed it tonight, just had to send the Artillery and a Air Strike. Finished it on Helmand Valley. I was counter sniped once at the glory rock. I then returned after a few deaths, sniped across the valley for almost 5 minutes and initiated my Air Strike.

Offensive Support Actions are the killstreaks rewards you receive after you've gained a certain amount of points within one life. There are a total of seven Offensive Support Actions you must call to obtain this achievement. When you have the choice to choose a reward, pick the Offensive Support Action (). This achievement does not require your to call in all Offensive Support Actions in one game. You must call all 7 Offensive Support Actions throughout your online career. So if you do not wish to call in an Offensive Support Action that you have already called in, you can call in a Defensive Support Action which will grant you free points towards your next killstreak reward. This Achievement will unlock at the end of the game.

  • Level 1 - Mortar Strike (50 Points)
  • Level 2 - Rocket Attack (100 Points)
  • Level 3 - Missile Attack (175 Points)
  • Level 4 - Artillery Strike (250 Points)
  • Level 5 -Strafing Run (350 Points)
  • Level 6 - Air Strike (450 Points)
  • Level 7 - Cruise Missile (600 Points)
0
0

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

On the lower right of your screen, you will see a number like 0/50 above your ammo count. This is your scorechain. You build scorechains by getting Kills (10 pts), Kill Assists/Savior Kills/Revenge Kills/Headshots/Melee Kills(5 pts), Completing Objectives (15-50+ pts) and using Defensive Support Actions (30-100+ pts). Once you've fulfilled the quota, a support action will be made available to you. Press to use an Offensive Support Action, is for Defensive Support Action. Keep scoring more points to increase your scorechain to a higher level and gain more powerful support actions. If you die, your scorechain resets, but if you obtained a support action before you died and didn't use it, it will still be available when you respawn. You DON'T have to use all of them in one session, it can be done over multiple sessions.

If you want to gain the higher level support action quick, use Defensive Support Actions on the lower levels because they give you guaranteed points that count towards increasing your scorechain to the next level. This is a list of all available Offensive Support Actions, thanks to eldraco.

Level 1 - Mortar Strike (50 Points)
Level 2 - Rocket Attack (100 Points)
Level 3 - Missile Attack (175 Points)
Level 4 - Artillery Strike (250 Points)
Level 5 - Strafing Run (350 Points)
Level 6 - Air Strike (450 Points)
Level 7 - Cruise Missile (600 Points)

Offensive support is a reward that is given to you for a certain number of kills, activated . You need to score 600 points to activate all types of support, you need to score 600 points without dying because after death the points are reset. It is not necessary to use all types of support at once.
You can score this many points only in the “Combat Mission” game mode. Since there the game takes a long time and you can try to score points. You need to sit down somewhere as a sniper and slowly shoot, as soon as some support becomes available, activate it on the enemies, since dead enemies under your fire will give you points.
You can also target enemy snipers; when you kill an enemy, his points are transferred to you. And if you take down a lucky enemy sniper with a lot of points, then all this wealth will go to you.
• Mortar Barrage (50 points)
• Rocket attack (100 points)
• Rocket Strike (175 points)
• Artillery bombardment (250 points)
• Bomb (350 points)
• Air strike (450 points)
• Cruise missile (600 points)

I took the trophy to Gelm. valley and in attack. We carefully leaned out, took a headshot, and came back. Beware of enemy snipers! Don't pay too much attention to the enemies from first base. Shoot them whenever possible. Once your brothers in arms make it to second base, this is where the fun begins. You will take the trophy at second base. Fire support for sure - against the enemies, not in vain!!! Moreover, without a rangefinder and an improved sight there really is nothing to do here.

Here is a video of this position:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AGD...eature=related

See video of the best place (not mine).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsNH...eature=related

First base - we stand on the wing, hide behind the fuselage, set up headshots.

Second and third bases - we stand on the tail, as in the video, and set up headshots. The fun starts at third base.
