How to unlock the He's Actually Called Vava achievement in Mega Man X Legacy Collection - Definitive Guide

This one was tricky for me, but I figured it out. All you need to do is highlight which of the 4 X games you want to play and press cn_X to change the game edition, from English to Japanese and back again. From there, you pick which edition you want to play the opening stage through first. I naturally went English first on Mega Man X1, saved my game, and then quit back to the Game Selection screen, pressed cn_X to switch X1 to Japanese edition (which changes it to Rockman X1) and replayed the opening stage up until Vile/Vava grabbed me and the achievement popped.

Good hunting!

Replay the intro stage of the original Mega Man X in English, then switch the game version to Japanese, which should be ROCK man X, and then start a new game and just go through the intro stage from start to finish. Once you complete it, the trophy unlocks.

You’ll need to change the version of any Mega Man X game from the US to the Japanese Rockman X version in the main menu. Select a title and press to switch between the Mega Man or Rockman version of the game. Select the game of your choice. Then all you have to do is beat the opening demo stage. The difference between them is non-existent, save for the translations. There is no need to do it in English first if you've already played the game.

(Vava is Vile’s name in Japan).
