How to unlock the Pew Pew achievement in Mega Man X Legacy Collection - Definitive Guide

This is a little tricky, as it's not just the 8 weapons you get from the Mavericks bosses. See, unlike the previous 3 X games, in X4 you have a choice of 2 Arm upgrades to get: one that will allow you to charge up to 4 X-Buster super shots which you can then fire until all 4 are used up, and one that will give you a more powerful Plasma Shot that creates a ball of plasma energy when it touches an enemy that still does damage for a few seconds. Both Upgrades are interchangeable BUT only if you enter their capsule and whichever you choose, you're stuck with the rest of the game (personally I prefer the Plasma Shot upgrade).

EDIT: A few of you seem to think by what I originally wrote that that when you pick one arm upgrade OR if you leave Storm Owl's stage then you can;t go back and swap Arm Upgrades; that is not what I was trying to say, as you will see below.

This achievement requires not just fully charged shots of each of the 8 weapons but BOTH Arm Upgrades as well (I only found this out by going back to Storm Owl's stage and got the 2nd upgrade to charge up to 4 X-Buster shots). So when you find the Arm Upgrades (they're in Storm Owl's stage and requires Web Spider's Light Web to reach them), get in the capsule for the 4x Shot Upgrade first, charge it up and fire it, and then use the Plasma Shot capsule to get that upgrade and fire that one fully charged. Keep whichever upgrade you want, but remember to use all 8 weapons after you gain them.

Good hunting!

worked fine exactly like you said. so once you leave Owl's stage, you can't change to the other one?

ShinobiGarth, thats correct; whichever capsule you entered last in Owl's stage, that's the arm part you're stuck with for the rest of the game.

ChaosValentine is correct. The Arm capsules are always there, so if you only chose one at first you can go back for the other. I just did it myself.

Okay, I edited the solution as it looked like some who read it think you cannot swap Arm parts during Storm Owl's stage or go back and swap; I did say originally in the final paragraph that I had to go back and make the swap and fire a charged shot to get the achievement.

I just went back to Storm Owls stage to check out of curiosity because I had taken the Plasma Arm, but forgotten to fire off the charged up 4x Shot for the achievement. Upon returning, I WAS able to switch out the arm parts despite leaving the level previously with the Plasma Arm and thereby still able to unlock the achievement without restarting.

Thanks for the guide. I also found the wording confusing.

This achievement needs you to fire (i) a charged shot with each boss weapon, (ii) a Plasma Shot, and (iii) the Stock Charge. You get (ii) and (iii) as arm upgrades from the two capsules at the end of Storm Owl’s stage and you can swap freely between them at any time. Given this, the achievement it isn’t missable as far as I can tell.

You don’t need to damage an enemy with the shots.

To unlock this trophy, you'll need access to the Arm upgrades in Storm Owl's stage (and potentially Lightning Web from Web Spider to reach the capsules).

Once you make it to Area 2 of Storm Owl's stage, progress through before the first set of boss doors, you'll notice a small wall with spikes above it. If you shoot off Lightning Web in front of the spikes you can wall jump from the web to the edge of the floor above them.

There will be 2 sets of Buster capsules: What you choose to stay with is your choice. But whatever you choose, head into the capsule of the other Arm upgrade and lob off a charged shot before choosing your preferred capsule.

Why? Because in order for this to be achieved, you need not only your Buster of choice and the 8 Weapons to be xhaeged, but the other buster upgrade charge shot as well to pop the unlock!

(Missable)

After beating each of the 8 Mavericks, X will gain a new weapon. But to charge them, X will need to find and equip the Arm armor parts.

There are actually 10 charged weapons in the game, and they all count towards this trophy. There are the 8 Maverick weapons and there are two alternate Arm Parts that offer upgraded charge shots for X. You need to fire both of these. So when you reach the Arm Parts, select the one which will give you four total charged shots. Charge and fire all four shots. Then get the alternate Arm Parts with the big shot. Charge and use that. Finally, charge and use all 8 boss weapons.

Each weapon that must be charged is as follows:

  • Arm Parts (White) – Charge a full stack of white shots and fire them all.
  • Arm Parts (Black) – Charge the huge buster shot and fire it.
  • Frost Walrus – Frost Tower
  • Jet Stingray – Ground Hunter
  • Slash Beast – Twin Slasher
  • Web Spider – Lightning Web
  • Split Mushroom – Soul Body
  • Cyber Peacock – Aiming Laser
  • Storm Owl – Double Cyclone
  • Magma Dragoon – Rising Fire
