Leg Upgrade
Blizzard Buffalo
After going underground and then climbing out, a blizzard will start. Move across the upper platforms up to a point where you can drop down and move ahead. On the platform, dash jump up and to the right to reach a room with the leg upgrade.
Cannon Upgrade
Neon Tiger - requires leg upgrade and Tornado Fang
After the first big room, go up a ladder, to the right, and stop at the cracked wall next to another ladder. Use the Tornado Fang to break the wall, then the air dash to get across the gap. Jump and vertical-dash up to the capsule with the cannon upgrade.
Body Upgrade
Volt Catfish - requires cannon upgrade and Gravity Well
On the second rising platform, stay on it when it passes the exit at the right, and use the left exit shortly above. Stand on the stationary object, equip the Gravity Well, charge it, and release to cause the object to rise. Jump off it at the top to reach the upgrade capsule.
Helmet Upgrade
Tunnel Rhino - requires cannon upgrade and Triad Thunder
Work your way through the level until you reach a boulder suspended above a bed of spikes to the left of the shaft you just climbed. Stand on the small platform, equip Triad Thunder, charge it, and release. The boulder will drop, giving access to another shaft. Climb it to reach the upgrade capsule.

There are four armor capsules in Mega Man X3, each granting X an upgrade part.
The armor capsules are located in the following areas:
- Foot Parts: Located in Blizzard Buffalo’s stage. It’s in a room immediately above where the boss door is. You need to get on the above road and dash jump over. But first, it’s recommended to destroy the ice machine.
- Body Parts: Located in Volt Catfish’s stage. To reach this, you need the Gravity Well and the Arm Parts. There is an elevator where you exit right but can continue to ride higher to an area where there is a bizarre platform with an icon that animates with what looks like an arrow. Stand on top of this, charge up the Gravity Well and fire to cause the platform to rise, taking you to the capsule.
- Head Parts: Located in Tunnel Rhino’s stage. After the first sub boss room, you will come across another rock held by rope in the air. Use a charged Triad Thunder to break the rope and remove the obstacle.
- Arm Parts: Located in Neon Tiger’s stage. It is hidden behind an obvious breakable wall before the first sub boss. Use the Tornado Fang to break through it. Then use the Foot Parts to air dash to the right and then again upwards to reach the capsule.
