How to unlock the Perfected: Metal Slug 6 achievement in METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY - Definitive Guide

There is an exploit that can be used if you have a second controller. Connect both controllers and start a game on easy (in the collection game options) with player 1 controller. Play as normal until you run out of lives. The trick is pressing start (right on the touchpad) on the other controller, right as the continue countdown pops up. You must be very quick otherwise the game will count a continue (you could still mess it up a few times as long as you're under 5). If done quick enough it won't count a continue. Keep alternating between controllers every time you run out of lives and enjoy the game at your own pace. The trophy pops after the final boss. You can also choose the "easy" route in Metal Slug 6 which only has 4 missions.

If you don't have a second controller, you will have to do it legit with 5 or fewer continues. That will require near perfect mastery of the game, although Metal Slug 6 is the easiest to do due to only having 4 missions on the easy route. Either way, there's no advice that can be given if doing it legit other than practice for many hours until you memorise exactly where enemies spawn from and boss attack patterns.

You have to make it through all of the missions without using more than 5 continues (you get 3 lives for each continue). The nice thing about MS6 is that you can can choose Easy difficulty in game as well as in the options making the your attempt much easier, but it also eliminates the final mission from the run which that by itself makes it's a HUGE plus.As with the other versions, patience and practice are going to be your best friends on this run. Tanks are going to be your best friends in the missions as they will not only give you more fire power, but also allow you to take multiple hits of damage before they explode leaving you defenseless again (and make boss fights MUCH easier).

Bosses will obviously be your biggest threat to keeping your lives intact, so here are tips on how they attack and how to defeat them (hopefully) easier:

Mission 1 Boss: The boss is a giant bulldozer type vehicle that is looking to run you down. In the first phase of the battle, the boss will alternate between firing a torpedo that rolls along the ground (jump over to avoid) and an enemy popping up and shooting out lobbing fire balls. Once you do enough damage, the bulldozer front will blow off and down will come a drill, signaling the second phase of the battle. During this part of the battle, the boss will start by shooting out boulders from the top of it which lob down on to you and stick in the ground making it uneven. Move back and forth to avoid these while shooting the ones that landed to destroy them while making your way to the far left side of the stage to avoid the drill attack that it does afterwards where it extends the drill almost the entire length of the screen towards you before retracting it. The boss will then move forward a little bit, making the space you have free smaller and then repeats it's previous attacks. Keep firing away on it and it should fall shortly after the first set of attacks.

Mission 2 Boss: You will battling a huge tank that is speeding down an unnaturally long hill. The boss will begin by firing out a few missiles that will fly off the screen, then come back on and finally drop down on to you which you can either avoid by moving away from them or shooting them down. Next it will do a similar attack, but with smaller missiles and the same strategy applies with them. Once you do enough damage to destroy the top of the tank, a huge missile launcher will come out and fire a missile into the sky which will then drop down where you were, so move to the other side of the tank when it is coming down to avoid it. Just keep firing away on it while avoiding the missiles and you will take it down.

Mission 3 Boss: During this battle, you won't only be fighting with the giant robot with a brain for a control, but also the stage as you are going to have to keep moving backwards and jumping over boxes that are trying to block your path. The robot will start by shooting out energy balls that hover over you until they fall straight down on you, so move back and forth to avoid them. Eventually the robot will kneel down and it's hands turn into electric rods and he puts them on the ground sending a huge electrical blast across the whole lower level of the screen. When you see him getting ready for this attack, jump up on to the nearest box to avoid it. Further on, he will kneel down again, but this time he will pick up a bus and throw it at you, so hide behind a box to avoid the attack. His next attack will be a wave of energy balls that he shoots out of his chest at you, so try to get to the bottom of the level and duck when he does it. Just make sure that you are firing away on him and eventually he'll blow his top.

Mission 4 Boss: The boss here is a giant armored worm that rises up from the water in front of you. It's first attack is it shoots a poison blob out of it's mouth at you, but if you run up and jump onto the boss and stand under it's head, you will not be hit by them at all. Once it finishes, it will re-enter the water and upon it's re-emergence it will begin sending blobs at you that you will need to try to avoid as best as possible as they come from all over the place and float at you and I would suggest that you focus on them and not attacking at that point. After it leaves the screen, it will reappear from the other side and come at you before wrapping around on to the left hand side. Run and position yourself right under his head again to avoid the spitting poison blobs, but be careful as after he finishes this attack, the will spin his body that you will need to jump over the spin to avoid being hit. After that he will disappear and then come back up on the left side and shoot out a laser like attack to the far side followed up poison blasts down the screen towards him and the back, so make sure you position yourself on the lower rock platform on the left hand side to avoid the attack. It will then start repeating it's moving around the screen while shooting out poison blobs attack. Just keep laying into him with everything you have and eventually he will fall.

*In case you want a challenge and don't do this run on Easy*

Final Mission Boss: The boss will be encased in a bubble on the ceiling. Just keep attacking it while taking out the enemies that jump up on either side of you every so often until you destroy the bubble that it's in. After a pre-mature celebration, the true final boss emerges and is a large alien skeleton type creature whose head is you attack point. It will begin by firing a spread of fire balls followed by individual ones across the room as he moves his head back and forth. After that he will fire an energy blast at the ground dropping you to the next level down. He will then begin to shot a thin laser out of his eyes at you that will turn into a laser beam after a second or two, so keep moving to avoid the beams. He will then blast the floor again and repeat one of the two previous attacks, followed by breaking the ground (etc etc). Once you do enough damage to him, he'll start glowing and will shoot energy waves at your from all sides that you will need to jump & run to avoid or shoot them (although they are more difficult than the fireballs as they are faster moving). He will continue to attack with those as well as his previous attacks and breaking the ground. When he takes enough damage again, you both will begin to free fall down a hole, but he will keep firing energy waves at you from above, so keep shooting them and moving around to avoid. After a little while, he will fall to his death as you cling for dear life, but at least you're alive... or are you? (...You are)

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!

Obtained by playing as Ralf. He is killed only with the second hit, although the damage is weak, but with sufficient skill it can be completed without any problems. Took the trophy on the second playthrough.
