How to unlock the Cowboy achievement in Metro Redux - Definitive Guide
From there, proceed to the part where mutants start attacking through the vents. It's right after you meet Hunter. You will have to pick up the magnum in the locker to the right of the fire to proceed.
The Mutants come from the four vents on the wall. It's best if you can keep them in the vent because they don't move as much in there, making a headshot easy.
Once you've fought off the horde, quickly reload the checkpoint and repeat. Make sure you don't wait too long, as the checkpoint saves a couple seconds after finishing the fight. The checkpoint in the area is a little glitchy, so don't be surprised if it takes you back to the beginning of the level.
After you obtain this achievement, there is another achievement in this area called "Quickdraw." If you manage to kill every mutant in the area without any breaking a vent, you will get it. The full guide is here -
you start the mission with the magnum. At the very beginning of the game you come across the reds fighting the nazis.
Kill all the enemies with the magnum and then just load up the last checkpoint. Rinse and repeat until you hit 100
If you're already done with the campaign, I guess you could load up Church, pick up a revolver for free and its upgrades, and grind out the kills on Dark Star right after.
The revolver will the very first weapon you acquire in the game, specifically during the “Hunter” level. Since you’ll have this weapon at such an early point in your playthrough, make sure to utilize it frequently against human enemies and weaker mutants like Lurkers or Nosalises. It’s a rather strong handgun and will prove to be beneficial when facing enemies in close-quarters combat. After you obtain your hundredth kill with the revolver, the achievement will be yours.
