How to unlock the Invisible man achievement in Metro Redux - Definitive Guide

There are various shortcuts in this level, most importantly there is one near the beginning that allows you to skip most of the enemies in the first section by taking a series of pipes to the ground floor. You can also use a trench near the side of the railroad, and some pipes in the last section of the map in order to completely avoid enemies.

I recommend watching the video to see the best path through the level, which makes it super easy.

Note: This achievement requires you to not KILL anyone, but "knock out" is fine. Also, you might have to do this achievement in one go from the very beginning to the very end of the level as I had trouble getting it to unlock when I used the "Load Last Checkpoint" or whenever I died.

For some weird reason, the achievement will not pop if you indeed let the Nazi kill the Red prisoners, even though you can let another person die earlier in the level (before starting jumping on the pipes to go down to the big open area) in a similar way. Restarting from checkpoint was also okay, it doesn't void it.

Great video!! Thanks, Maka!! Just wanted to note, also...as I was going across the last set of pipes, before you go down the last ladder, I accidentally fired a round. So, with the enemies alerted, I decided to try reloading the check point and the achievement still unlocked...just in case someone gets close to the end and messes up like I did.

Got it! Saved the prisoners from execution. Knocked out at least a dozen guys, and got spotted once and was killed, so reloading checkpoint worked. Thumbs up

One important note: I had trouble unlocking this when I ignored the hostages. When I knocked the guy out and rescued them it then unlocked at the end of the level. I have a feeling when they get executed it counts as a kill.

I can confirm that the achievement did not pop on ‘successful’ kill-free runs - UNTIL a final run where my sole interaction was to knock out (X) the guard holding 3 prisoners at gunpoint.
I used Chapters to go back and unlock the achievement.

To confirm with other comments, loading the last checkpoint no longer invalidates the achievement. Great guide, though. Thanks!

I think the key is to knock out the guard of the three Reds as noted in your video. I did two prior run throughs, one not knocking out or killing anyone and a second where I knocked out a few people (but not that guard) and didn't get the achievement. The third time I specifically knocked that guy out and a couple others and it popped.

Need to confirm something... I only cut 3 wires, and I was chased through the entire mission. My game froze and I reloaded it from a checkpoint, so it wasn't all in one run.

The key was playing it on Survival, not Spartan. I did knock out the prison guard as I went by, but I SPRINTED through the entire level. It's the method I used in the original, and it works here as well.

Hi, thanks for the guide.
I'd like to confirm that I could reload checkpoint a couple of times (I died falling from pipes) and knocking the guys works.
You can also be spotted, just run away and don't kill anyone.

Hi, I've done this level six times now in pure stealth, no kills, no knockouts, no being seen, no traps set off etc. The achievement just won't pop.
I decided to let my son have a go on his profile, I watched him do it perfectly and gain no achievement.
Has anyone else had similar problems,
Any ideas, tips.
I tried over different days to allow for achievements sometimes popping hours later.

I just unlocked this achievement and I did not complete it in one go. I was spotted trying to get the night vision goggles at the very beginning of the level and twice more. Each time I reloaded a checkpoint and continued. I disabled all 4 traps, saved the prisoners, and only fired silenced shots at lights. Also, I started the level last night and finished it today after work.

Question: Are people beating this on their Spartan run or their Survival run? I'm on a Spartan run, and I literally can't save the Reds because I can't knock anyone out. I never get the prompt (which is weird). It may have to be done on Survival.

I completed this about an hour ago, was caught numerous times (tried a different method before looking up a solution) restarted checkpoints, & died. Finally just backtracked through the level and followed the video posted above, saved the reds, and achievement unlocked.

I'm playing survival mode if that makes a difference smile

I can confirm you can use reload checkpoint. I just used it like 3, 4 times. Unlocked perfectly.
Playing on spartan. Keep in mind... Achievements not unlocking is usually a problem with the achievement servers. It doesn't work the same as it did on the 360 anymore. It's all online now. Even the achievement system. I've had achievements unlocking a week after meeting the requirements. Some times you'll even lose your cheevo progress bars. Don't worry, they'll be back the next day or so. It's all about syncing issues with the servers... Happy hunting!

You have to save the red prisoners by knocking out the guard to get this to pop. You can leave the guy get executed at the start though.

Like Psychichicken said, you can reset checkpoints, but I also got all four wire traps and I did it in one go (as in I didn't turn the game off or back out to the main menu, I started the level and kept trying until I finished it, checkpoint restarts included)

Just for information, used both reloads of checkpoints (had to replay from when you jump down on the pipes) and accidentally triggered ALL four tripwires and still got the achievement.

Just don't kill anyone in the Frontline mission. You can knock them out, and I suggest knocking out a few crucial ones such as the one for Rescue Ranger, but make sure to listen to the necessary conversations for certain Moral Points if you're working toward the Enlightened achievement as well.

I've created a full Enlightened playthrough video, and during the Frontline mission I point out collectibles and Moral Points as well as showing the path I prefer to take when going for Invisible Man while still gaining said collectibles and Moral Points.

You can see the full mission with all items of interest and collectibles at the 1:01:42 mark in the video.

You have to stay undetected for the whole chapter. If you get spotted, return to the main menu and start the chapter over. Loading a checkpoint won't work.

It can happen that enemies shoot each other when you get seen, so try to avoid it altogether and move silently. Also if you trigger the traps on the radioactive ground, the achievement won't pop.

At the start, make your way down the pipes into the radioactive lower level and disable ALL 4 TRAPS (1:27). You will come across a guard that's holding some red's in a CELL (2:31). Knock him out to make sure that he doesn't kill them. This is necessary for the Achievement/Trophy. Back at the TOP LEVEL (3:05), turn right, walk past the guard and sprint through the small way on the right side. Keep sprinting and hide in a corner on the left until the car has past you. Take your time at the last part and stay in the shadows to get to the final two doors.

it sometimes happens that enemies shoot each other once they chase you down. Also, if you trigger the traps on the radioactive ground the achievement won't pop. I'm not sure if some enemies are affected by this and get killed or if it's just being noticed. So the save way is to go for stealth altogether :)

The above solutions are incorrect about being caught or seen... you CAN be seen and still earn the achievement. You can also die. My game actually froze in the middle, and I had to reload from the beginning of the mission. I was seen at the beginning of the mission, and heard the chase music through the entire level. The achievement popped immediately when I opened the third door at the end of the level. This worked on Metro 2033 Redux, and it works on Metro Redux.

The key is to play it on Survival, NOT Spartan (although you can do it on Spartan, I found it impossible for some reason). I have a feeling that everyone having problems with this were playing it on Spartan. I've run this mission several times on different copies, and run it the same way, which is Patsreds running method posted on the 360 Metro 2033 page.

I wish I had a video to show how I just did it. I tried doing it over and over again with the videos on my Spartan play, but it never worked.

Here's how it goes. Make sure you have 5 medpacks when you start the mission. The first part, you're going to need to know the level so that you can get through the first part without taking too much damage.

First, start running toward the train, then down the left stairs, across to the middle of the bridge (they've seen you by now), turn left across the center between the two tunnels, and then run right toward where the prisoner is being executed. Run to the left around the execution to the light hanging on the rail, and jump across onto the pipe. Quick run left (you may have to use a medpack here), turn right at the end onto the first platform, then again onto the second platform.

You can probably catch a breather here. They'll still fire at you. Keep in mind that except for right here, I don't stop running until I get into the Nazi camp.

Move across to the right back toward the center of the tunnel, and turn left at the center. You'll see a tape arrow pointing the way. You're going to need to jump across to the next pipe, then turn right and go up the small pipe to the walkway. Turn left, go all the way to the body with the pneumatic weapon and a fresh mask. Make sure you take it if you need to.

Drop right onto the walkway, move around, down the pipe and onto the floor. From where you are, move left and all the way to the far wall. Hug the wall and move toward the left. I'm fairly sure that you'll skip wire #1 as you go through here because I never see it.

When you start needing to wind through the debris, watch out for the trip wires. The first will be as you're going through the debris, as you cross from the right side of the tunnel to the left. A little bit further, along the left wall, is the second wire. A bit further as you move back to the right is the third wire. You can see these in the videos. Keep in mind that I skipped the first one that they show.

Run up into the tunnel, up the first ladder. You can take your mask off here. Through the grate, up the second ladder, and into the room with the Nazi and the prisoners. Knock him out if you want the Rescue Ranger achievement, and head left. Before the door, there's a switch box to turn the lights out, which I did. Go through the door, carefully up the dark stairs. The chase music was still running for me.

They're still looking for you. Go straight through the door into the trench on the other side. (There's another tape arrow.) Follow the trench to the right. Pop up and blow out the lamp. The car will run by. I would suggest waiting for it to go right, and then run to the left to an alcove. The car WILL see you, but wait until it does. It'll come back to look at you and move past, take the chance to START RUNNING.

From here, you're going to need to rely on your medpacks. Again, I never stopped running. Run past the sandbags with the guards, and keep going. There are two guards down the last tunnel. One is more armored, but JUST KEEP RUNNING. You'll probably use a medpack or two, but don't stop. Go through the first door. Two guys in here, get to the second door. (Remember that if you get to the door, the animation will keep you from dying, so just run to it.) One last straight passage with no one there, hit the third door and spam X to open it, and it'll pop as soon as you open it and the ending plays.

Yes, this works. Again, I don't have a video to show it, but it does work. Just make sure you're on Survival 2033, NOT Spartan 2033. That made all of the difference to me.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just considerably harder. Also, the description says "without killing anyone." Based on that, the achievement is glitchy, but on Survival it isn't necessary to stay silent.

I did this on Spartan, so not to contradict the solution (which I gave a thumbs up too). The reason this solution is good is that you don't have to do it in one go.

I made it to the end only to be spotted by the last guy. I reloaded my checkpoint. Ran back to where I was an then "pop!"

Don't lose hope if they spot you. Just reload and try again.

Just a couple of things I would like to add to the above solutions for perhaps better clarification. Firstly, I can confirm this has to be within one run meaning you can't reload checkpoints or quit to the main menu to continue. Secondly and most important you cannot be caught at all. If you hear the music change for any moment of time, 30sec, 3min whatever it may be, then just start over, don't question it, it's a waste of time to continue on. The videos are fantastic at showing you where to go but I wouldn't follow them verbatim. The ONLY time I would recommend sprinting is when you reach the very bottom via the pipeline. About 50-60% of the time sprinting in the trenches after saving the Reds (which is also required to net this achievement) will get you caught in some form because of the noise and the next part with the oncoming trolley. What I recommend is after you walk through the trenched sides (right or left, doesn't matter) stick to the right side of the tracks until you see the headlight of the trolley, once you do turn around and duck back into the trench until it passes then progress to the end. Just take it slow and use knock outs when you have to. Should be finished from start to finish in about 8-10min tops.

The complete opposite of Hedge-Hopper, this time you must complete the entire level without killing a single enemy. Try to avoid confrontation at all costs, knocking out enemies is completely fine just do not kill anyone. Take your time, blow out all lights in your way, only knocking out enemies necessary to complete the level or get moral points if you are doing this on your good playthrough, note you can reload checkpoint if you are detected at any time. You can also pair this trophy with Rescue Ranger if you want, check the description for more details. Alternatively, PowerPyx has made a video on how to get this trophy:

Ao contrário da conquista Hedge-hopper, nesta, é necessário passar pelo capítulo FRONT LINE sem matar (mais pode nocautear) os inimigos que estão no local (é um bom momento para fazer a conquista Rescue-Ranger). Para isso, existem caminhos escondidos que, ao serem tomados, evitam grande parte dos soldados na área. Confira o guia no vídeo abaixo.

To do this, you don’t have to be 100% stealth, the main thing is just not to kill anyone; by the way, you can stun anyone (well, except for types with heavy armor)

You don’t have to go down the stairs to get the night vision devices (you’ll still come across Sam Fisher’s device again in a couple of chapters), but make the brightest gamma possible in the “Settings” menu. Helps a lot during stealth passage.

It's easiest to go through in survival mode, because... You will have to play most of it in stealth. Be sure to help the prisoners. When passing a level, try to follow the arrows. They are easy to spot, don't miss them. Especially in the place where you will have to go through the pipes, after one prisoner. Be careful when you go down from them to the very bottom) There will be 3-4 stretch marks. Otherwise everything is quite simple. Just follow the signs and the trophy is yours
