How to unlock the Retire the Master achievement in Midnight Club: Los Angeles - Definitive Guide

While this sounds like the final achievement of the game, it isn't. In order to challenge the City Champ, you must complete a majority of the game. That means completling all 4 tournaments (one from each region of the city), completing the matches of each city, and completing the wager and pinkslip matches for each region.

It *does* take a while to get to this point, but it is essentially the end of the game's story line. After you unlock the oppotunity to challenge the city champ, you have to beat him in the best of 3 races. He will be driving a suped-up (not DUB) Mercedes Benz S600 which is pretty crappy at accellerating.

As long as you pick the fastest car that you are completely comfortable with, he won't be a problem.

Since he doesn't care what kind of vehicle you choose, you can always race in a motorcycle. The Kawasaki Ninja is a good choice because it is very cheap, and very very fast. After buying it, test it out to see how well you can control it. If you are somewhat comfortable, consider buying the upgraded parts, starting with the bottom few which upgrade your handling capabilities. One of the buttons you will use the most while driving a bike is the A Button. When hitting this button, do not let go of the accellerator or else you will not get the effect. Just approach a really sharp corner at full speed and as soon as you feel the turn is too sharp hold down the A Button until it puts you in the right direction.

Using this bike, you can kick his ass no problem. I beat him first try with over a minute of space between me and him at the end of the first race.

i have one piece of advice - I found pressing B had a more useful affect than A. whereas A makes u drift and thus slows u down, if u press B u can shift ur weight which basically has the same affect, but doesnt slow u down as much.

True, but I found that the leaning didnt give me a sharp enough turn. I could make fast, precise turns using the A button where the B button made me wait to get around the corner before accelerating off.

I'm 88% of the way through the career and this just WONT show up. All of my active missions are re-doing tournaments and wagers. What am I missing?

B is much better than A, I swear. A slows you down.

WTF? I'm at 52% and I can't get the damn thing to give me any new missions. I've done the same tournaments at least 3 times now. I've got all cars unlocked, max rank, etc. I just hit 300 races offline.

Go look at my walkthrough and check the races against your completed ones.

Also, the Lamborghini Murcielago DUB Edition is a better alternative to the Ninja, as the Murcielago DUB is also fast enough to finish the endgame, since you can just win it from a DUB tournament and spend $58,880 to just max that out and go through the game with it, and that car can easily beat the City Champ too.

In order to be able to face Booke, you must complete a majority of the story missions. After being at a certain amount of completion, Booke will call you to go to the Standard Hotel. During the cutscene, you will be informed that Booke has three minions for you to beat in a best of 3 series. They are the District Champions Tommy (Downtown; Miura), Leon (Hills; Murcielago) and Laticia (Santa Monica/Beaches; Gallardo).

After beating the District Champions in their Best of 3 series, you will be called back by Booke and must go to the Standard Hotel to talk to him. After the cutscene, you will face him in a best of three series. He will be driving a Mercedes-Benz S 600 (non-DUB variant), which is a Group 4, B-Class Luxury car that has slow acceleration and low handling due to it's heavy weight.

Any vehicle can be used against him, with the Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster DUB Edition being the best choice for this race, as it is very fast and has great handling, and is easily obtainable due to being won from the Downtown DUB Tournament, which is a hard difficulty tournament that rewards the said car for free after winning the tournament.

Any Group 3 or higher vehicle can beat him due to the S600's stats, even most of the higher class tuners, or muscle cars, which can add 2 wins towards the vehicle type champs.

I raced the city champion on a Kawasaki Ninja. In both races, closer to the finish, the opponent was not even visible on the map

After you win an unknown number of races, Karol will call and say that Brook, the city champion, has returned to the city. After that, you just need to visit Brook and win the race.
