How to unlock the Elder God achievement in Mortal Kombat X - Definitive Guide

You need 1.929.949 XP to reach level 65.

This is a 2 controller method using Kustom Kombat with four modfiers.

Now it's time to set your Kombat Kard

Background:
Brutality Ending; 200 XP per Brutality performed
You get this Background for doing 250 Brutalities. Thanks to Premoz.

Icon:
MK IX; 100 XP per match win
I think this was unlocked from the beginning but I need confirmation here as well.
Edit: This comes from completing the MK I Premier tower that is still up at the time of writing this. Thanks to PointySpred for confirming.
You can use the MK 1-4 Icons (and other following propably as well) since they give the same bonus.
They came from completing the classic premier towers.
Credit to Chucklestyle for pointing this out in the comments.

Border:
Judan; 250XP per match win
This unlocks from reaching level 50 with the Lin Kui Faction.
Use the guides from the "No Loyalty" achievement to get this done and keep in mind that you lose everything from the Faction you're a member of when switching, including the Backgrounds, Borders and Icons.
I would suggest to do this after having leveled every Faction to the max.
Edit: Every faction has a border that gives 250 XP for reaching level 50 with it. Thanks again PointySpred.

Set up a match und choose Mileena because in my opinion her Brutality is one of the fastest, the second player choice doesn't matter.
You can choose Shinnok and do his back, forward, (hold) X Brutality which is at least as fast as Mileena's.
Credit goes to TNelson1995

Edit: Its Susi stated in the comments that he was using Kenshi to boost this by himself. He remapped the throw button (RB) to "A" in the options doing only one round before restarting. Kenshi's Brutality is his normal throw. Great idea btw!
A win gives him 1660 points. This is much easier of course but my method nets you more than 500 more XP for only a few seconds more. So it's your decision how to do it.

Latest edit 6th of June 2020:

Well Tanya gives you 250 XP for Background instead of Brutality 200 XP (you need to win 100 matches with her which is easy you will need to win 1k matches here.) That 50 XP can save you some time and for brutality it is so quick with LB only (press UP while throwing). It takes about 20 seconds and 1720 XP.

If you go with method of this guide it will give 500 XP more but you will lose at least 6-7 seconds. 1720 XP for 20 seconds or 2220 XP for 27 seconds. Math is easy 1720 XP is just better based on XP per seconds.

back to my original solution

Player 1 :
Double Damage
Powerful Jump Attacks

Player 2 modifiers:
Brutality Kombat
Killer Jumps ( set to "opponent")

Since you put Killer Jumps in your own favor you'll only need two attacks to win the first round.

When the match starts do a forward jump front punch followed by a forward jump front kick to end the first round within 1 second.
when the second round starts use mileenas rolling ball brutality by putting in back, down (and keep holding it), B.
This ends the second round within 5 seconds including watching the victory animation.
You will have earned 2.226 XP.
Retry the match with the same modifiers and rinse and repeat.
Good luck!

If you give negative votes please state why in the comments so I can improve my solution.

I think if you change rounds to 1 and then use someone with a 1 button brutality like kenshi or kung lao. Both its LB. Use turbo kombat and brutality kombat mods. When match starts just LB and it kicks off brutality. 1600 XP every 20 seconds or so.

Also each clan has a lvl 50 border for 250 XP. And the MK I icon is from completing this weeks MK1 premier tower. And the Brutality border is from 100 brutalities or something like that.

The first round only takes 1 second plus two more for the opponents to get back into position. Since you get extra points for a double flawless it's worth it imo.
With my method I get 600 XP more than you bjt it only takes 5 seconds longer.
Kenshi's and Kung Lao's Brutality grabs take longer than Mileenas btw, that's why I chose her.

Brutal Ending is for doing 250 Brutalities, you can find out the requirements by pressing X to view info.

KillSwitch's solution is working great for me. My setup was two controllers, Double Damage, Killer Jumping, Powerful Jump Attacks, and Brutal Kombat, along with the same Kombat Kard arrangement he has. I'm gaining 2100+ XP every 15-20 seconds, so thats 1 level about every 30-35 minutes with only 4 more to go.

FYI, I don't have 'Killer Jumps,' but I used 'Double Damage' as *both* modifiers for player 1 and basically got quad damage out of it. I set "Powerful jumps" to "opponent" on P2. The effect is the same as the solution--a single jump-punch/jump-kick combo ends round 1 pretty instantly.

I also picked up 'Danger' somewhere along the way that says "players get 1% health," but I haven't tried that.

Oh, and for what it's worth, the entire match (including load times and restarting) takes about 45 seconds. That's for the 2-round Mileena method. I'm using a fight stick, so strain isn't really an issue. :-)

The danger modifier isn't great for doing it this way since you get extra xp for health remaining.

I've done the premier towers every week (I think), not sure how I missed the MKIX one, but luckily finishing any of the other retro game themed towers nets an icon with the same buff, so any of the MK1-MK4 ones will also work.

Then don't get it who cares if you got those points nobody so why lie to yourself. You don't have time for the grind then you don't have time to fake it you can't have both its just an excuse. I'll ding this in 3 days but if I don't get it because of life then I'm fine at least I didn't fake it gg

I know I'm like super late with this but Leatherface's Saw Toss (as Pretty Lady) is a quick brutality and not too hard to perform, and he also has his own throw brutality like Kenshi does. Plus he has the advantage of having those DLC-specific character titles that give even higher XP (mainly Grisly Murders and one of his IV titles) than the regular ones do once you use him enough.

I don´t know if this could be helpful for someone, but i set the game as described above with Tania, but played in the Linkuei Temple, and execute the stage brutality, you just need to press RB and forward as soon as the match begins, it doesn´t even take a second to finish finish the match, just need to watch de animation and restart the match. Hope it helps.

Subtract 317 TA if you did it with 2 controllers if you say I don't have time to do it legit then don't earn it or lie and pretend you don't have time. You're the only one who cares about your points so why lie about them

With the Kenshi option for brutality I have mapped my grab (RB) to the (A) button. Making it so at the beginning of each match you only have to flick the thumb stick with your ring finger and tap (A) with your thumb.

Now the milena one yields you 2226 XP per match but that is a lot more button pressing to do besides one flick and one press.

With the MK1 icon | Brutality Ending Background| Judan Border you can get 1690 per match and all you have to do is hit two buttons and keep cycling through only having to hit A on your second controller

1,929,949 / 1690 = 1142 games needed to reach lvl 65 from zero.

I am at LVL 61 with 1,461,639 xp meaning I will need 277 more games with kenshi.

As melina I would need 210 games at 2226 XP, yet the strain on the hands kills it in the long run.

I would do the melina method if it saved me 150 games i'd love it.

The main downfall is that there is a way to only tap one button and over 1000 matches that is what sells it.

Having to TAP (A) instead of HOLDING (B) after hitting [back + down] is a great difference in strain on the hands.

BUT that is just mine and PointySpred's opinion.

For anyone still needing this and looking for a cheesy way to get it done . I stream it to my windows 10 pc which enables me to use my two turbo controllers. I reset controller 2 a button to just change stance so they don’t fight and controller one just kicks like normal . Set The a button on both controllers to turbo so it auto starts the match and controller one keeps kicking . The modifier I used was danger for both combatants only have 1 percent health . After one kick with player one match ends , only gives you around 750 ish points but if you set it overnight while you sleep it can work on getting xp for you while not playing . Cheap yes ...but so are these Grindy AF achievements ....

For those like me who don't have two controllers, here's a one controller solution that quickly helped me to get the achievement (based off some information from Dr Lipschitz's solution for the "No Loyalty" achievement so many thanks to him!):

First thing's first; only do this when it's one of the very last things you need to do to save grinding time.

Ok, now set all your Kombat Kard bonuses to anything with high XP payouts. If you're level 50 in your current faction, you should have a 250XP border to use. I personally used the MK IX icon for 100XP and then the "Brutal Endng" background for 200XP per Brutality performed. Just pick whichever your highest XP bonuses are for each category.

Now, make sure matches are set to ONE round and head into a "Test Your Luck" fight. Pick Shinnok (variation doesn't matter), set the difficulty to very easy and set 3-5 modifiers. As soon as the match starts, you want to be looking out for the Brutality Kombat modifier. If you don't see it, pause and restart until you see it. It may take a few minutes until it shows, but it will eventually. When you do get it, you want to make sure that there are no health degenerating ones as well (such as Bleeding or Bad Special) as these will cause you to get less XP once the match ends. While not essential, it just helps to speed up the process.

The second you begin fighting, perform Shinnok's "Gory Hole" brutality (cn_leftcn_right and HOLD DOWN cn_X). The reason we've picked Shinnok is because he has one of the fastest brutalities in the game and you won't need to touch the opponent like many of the other characters.

If successful, the match will end within one second. I was gaining 1,600XP every match with this method and managed to get all the way from level 63-64 in half an hour. To go again, pick the SECOND OPTION DOWN to have a rematch with the same modifiers, then simply repeat the process again.

On the odd occasion, the AI will block/swerve out of the way and hit you so you will only gain 1.3k-1.4k XP but 99% of the time you'll easily be getting a flawless victory. To ease the boredom, take a few breaks with towers (I kept going back to the hourly towers for Kustom Kombat Modifiers inbetween) or listen to some music or whatever. Once you find a rhythm, it'll go by very quickly. 20 seconds for 1,600XP isn't bad!

I looked at quite a handful of different methods considered to be the fastest, however none of which seem to be as fast as the one I found. You will need a certain Kustom Kombat Modifiers, otherwise you won't get nearly the same amount of XP per match. There are 3 optional Modifiers that I recommend to speed the process up (one of which I didn't have). I strongly encourage using the same Gameplay settings and the same Kombat Kards. (If you do not have the same Kombat Kards, you need to unlock them from challenges, or you can select which ones will give you the most XP. If you do not have the Infinite Super Meter Kustom Kombat Modifier, you will need to unlock it through the Living Towers. The recommended Modifiers would help but aren't required. You also need 2 controllers for this method.)

The goal is to make the match as long as possible, by using modifiers like Weakened (if it is unlocked), giving your opponent Health Enchantment and Health Regen (if it is unlocked), and disabling the timer and having each match last for 5 rounds. You will need the Infinite Super Meter modifier to have an unlimited use of X-Ray attacks. Equipping the Kombat Kards rewarding you with the most XP possible is strongly encouraged. Sub-Zero is the recommended character because activating his X-Ray doesn't require to block an enemy (Sonya Blade) or dash into the enemy (Scorpion).

1. Go into Gameplay settings to disable the timer, and I strongly recommend you set the match to 5 rounds, since the time transitioning into rounds is faster than the time transitioning into matches.

2. I strongly recommend you use the same Kombat Kards that I had on: (you will need to have these unlocked, otherwise, use which ones will give you the most XP)
Background: Clean Break - +200 XP per X-Ray performed
Icon: Lin Kuei Leader - +50 XP per X-Ray performed
Border: Judan - +250 XP per Match Win

3. Two Player --> Kustom Kombat --> Have both players be Sub-Zero (Cryomancer variant)
*Make sure you have the required modifier and use the recommended modifiers if unlocked as well*

Player 1: Modifier 1 - Infinite Super Meter (Required); Modifier 2 - Weakened (Recommended)

Player 2: Modifier 1 - Health Enchantment (Recommended); Modifier 2 - Health Regen (Recommended)

I personally had Infinite Super Meter and Weakened for myself, and my second controller had Health Enchantment. With those Kustom Kombat Modifiers, the Gameplay settings and Kombat Kards, I was able to get a minimum of 19475 XP per match. No matter what you try, this achievement will be a grind, but this is the fastest way I've ever seen, so definitely give it a shot if you have the right modifiers.

One of the most time consuming trophies in the game. The game has two levels involved; they are the Personal Level and the Faction Level, both of them are showed in your Kombat Kard located in Extras in the Main Menu.

You gain XP doing everything in the game, winning matches, performing X-Ray moves, doing Fatalities and Brutalities, getting flawless victories, etc.

So for reaching level 65 you need to grind a lot. Reaching level 65 demands 1,927,124 XP (Thanks to PSN user killer91ITA for the confirmation).

It’s important to note that you can also keep track of your Progression Awards located in your Offline Kombat Kard which is in Extras in the Main Menu. Here you can complete different challenges such as performing 100 Fatalities, or performing 50 Special Moves because this will grant you more XP.

Please refer to No Loyalty trophy for more information about farming XP.

When going for the No Loyalty achievement, you should be either at level 65, or close. If you just wanna grind it out for a bit, here's what to do:

Best done with 2 controllers, or boosted with a friend. If you have 2 controllers, or a turbo controller/fightstick, this can go real quick. This is even better if you're at a higher level in your faction because you'll have more perks to give you more XP per win.

1. Sign into your account with your preferred controller
2. Sign into a guest account with your 2nd controller
3. Edit your Kombat Kard to allow the most XP to be given WITHOUT the condition of "per Faction Kill." You'll see why below.
4. Go to Two Players -> Kustom Kombat.
5. For your side, use the Danger modifier and the Infinite Super Meter for yourself. For the 2nd controller side, don't add any modifiers.
6. Pick a character you want to farm with. You can swap between characters if things get dull, but that means you'll have to perform step 5 again.
7. Pick someone on the 2nd controller who you wanna kill a bunch or randomize it.
8. Choose your location. You can go with Random, but I recommend Lin Kuei Temple so you can use the fireball if your character has conditions for their brutality.

Once it starts, you should have 5 seconds to perform your brutality. So make sure you have a character that doesn't require combos (e.g. Johnny Cage) to pull it off as you'll have 1 hit to make it work.

When you perform the brutality, you should receive a nice boost. And because we're doing brutalities, the modifier for Faction Kills is null in void. Simply wash, rinse, and repeat until you get to level 65. You'll get new rewards (backgrounds, icons, and borders) every 5, 10, and 25 wins that will give you even more XP per win, so it's a good idea to check every so often.

If you're also going for "No Loyalty" and "Jump Ship," know that you'll lose your large XP boosts once you switch factions, so best to get the latter out of the way quickly or keep with the faction you're at until you reach level 65.

Just want to say that if you're going to use 2-controller method (don't forget about 200 XP per X-Ray Background) and if you have time to kill - you can customize your match-up with Weakened, Infinite Gauge and Two Enhanced Health Modifiers. By using them - you'd be able to grind 28 700 XP per match

Level 65 is not the maximum PL you can achieve but it seems NRS are being nice to us this time around so it's the highest we need to get to for an achievement. PLXP is different from the FXP we have been earning and it takes significantly more to max out than the Factions do, around 1.9 million PLXP will be needed to reach level 65 alone. Once you have have maxed out all your factions, we will be using the same method we used for the "No Loyalty" achievement to grind our the last of the PLXP needed for this achievement. Only this time we will be customizing out Kombat Kard to maximize our PLXP instead of the FXP. An example of a good Combat Kard setup is shown below.

  • Background: Dreadful Ways - +200 XP per win with Shinnok (Unlocked for 100 wins with Shinnok)
  • Icon: MK I - +100 XP per win (unlocked for completing the MK I Living Tower)
  • Border: Crime Lord - + 250 XP per win (unlocked at faction level 50, in this case Black Dragon)

We will be using the same boosting set up as "No Loyalty" shown again below:

  • Select Two Player > Kustom Match from the menu.
  • Select Shinnok for your fighter and whoever you want for the second controller.
  • Select the 'Danger' modifier for both players, this will start both fighters at 1% health, and start the match.
  • As soon as the fight begins immediately use Shinnok's Brutality, (HOLD) , to end the match.

Using the Kombat Kard example shown above you will be earning 1404 PLXP per win, each match takes around 20 seconds with loading times, so if you are diligent you can earn 168-252k FXP per hour. At that rate, going from PLXP level 1-65 will take around 7-11 hours. If you tackle this after you have unlocked "No Loyalty", you should already be quite high up with your PLXP so it will take significantly less time to finish off. If you don't have a second controller, this will take considerably longer to unlock. The best method is still to customize your Kombat Kard to maximize PLXP gain but rather than Kustom Matches you would play VS matches against the CPU on Very Easy difficulty (1 round) and still try to end the match with Shinnok's brutality. Another option is to start a Test Your Luck match on Very Easy with one modifier and them keep restarting the match until you have the 'Danger' modifier active then grind it out the same way as you would if you had two controllers.

One of the longest lasting trophies. save it for last. The experience can be boosted by connecting a second controller. See the trophy tip “I serve no one.”

You can speed up the process if you have the "Battle Brutality" modifier. We start the battle and immediately do brutality in the first round. HP is instantly destroyed in one hit, significantly saving time.

Don't worry about this trophy. Don't even think about it. If you are going to take platinum, then by the time you get the “I Serve No One” trophy you will already be level 64-66. So, complete the rest of the trophies, you will get this one automatically.

We play the try your luck mode with 1 round and 7 modifiers, wait until the battle brutality mod or the mod with 1 hp drops out, if one of these mods doesn’t drop out, press pause and start again - the mods will be re-selected as soon as they drop out - do brutality and a revenge match with the same modifiers, repeat until you get bored, the method is fast and effective and works with 1 controller.

For those who do not have a 2nd gamepad, put the background, icon and frame on the experience, best of all on OO, character and brutality. take the best character you have mastered, single battle is the easiest difficulty, more experience for a clear victory, kill, do brutality, repeat, not as fast as suggested above, but with one joy it will do)

For me, the fastest way to finish off an achievement was using 2 gamepads, the “battle brutality” modifier and settings for 1 (exactly one!) round.
I achieved the last 2 levels in about 100 such rounds

First, set the Icon, background and frame so that they give you maximum XP (experience points).
Secondly, in the main menu, the last tab is ADDITIONAL MATERIALS* - go there, then to the OFFLINE BATTLE HISTORY* and scroll left once. You will see rewards that are given to you for performing a certain number of brutalities, fatalities, uppercuts, etc. By completing them, you will be able to gain a level much faster if you fulfill two main conditions: pure victory and brutality. Well, in the battle itself, make throws or special techniques.

Well, for those who don’t have a second controller, we do the following. We go into the settings and in the game settings change the number of rounds won to 1, then we go into a single battle: fighter-Goro, difficulty-Easy, opponent-Cassie Cage. We leave 10% of the opponent’s life and perform BRUTALITY: (close) and repeat this many times until the cherished DING ! PS Don't forget to set up your Kombat card, bet all your experience on winning.

There is also another way, but it requires a 2nd controller and Jason.
-In the game settings, set the number of rounds to 1 round.
-Edit the player card for maximum experience gain.
-Select a custom battle with 2 players.
-We put 2 modifiers: DANGER (the battle starts with 1hp for both opponents), INFINITE SCALE FX (the battle starts with the “meters” filled, to make an X-RAY)
-We start the battle and take a couple of steps back for Jason, then press L2+R2 (X-ray + brutality is performed)
-We restart the battle.

In this way, the following are pumped up at once: pure victories, completed x-rays, completed brutalities.
P.S. If there is a card background that gives +200 experience per x-ray, you can put it. Then it is better to set the maximum number of rounds in the game settings and do brutality in the last round.

The fastest way and does not require a second gamepad:

We go into “Single player - Try your luck”, knock out Cassie (or anyone else who has a simple Brutality), put 7 modifiers into battle, wait until one of the modifiers turns out to be Battle Brutality and go ahead! As soon as the match starts, we do brutality and replay the match with the same modifiers as much as necessary. Don’t forget to also set up your combat card to increase XP. One match costs approximately 1300 XP, which lasts a matter of seconds.

We put a background/emblem/frame on receiving the OO. Go to the game settings, set the number of rounds = 5.

Further:

Two Players - Customizable Battle.

We need modifiers: Battle brutality, Double damage (it must be placed twice, that is, in 2 cells), Infinite x-ray.

As a result, we get: One X-ray = 1 round, in round 5 we do brutality and voila, I get about 8,000 for this approach, which lasts no more than a minute.
