How to unlock the Ace in the Hole achievement in MX vs. ATV Reflex - Definitive Guide
For those of you who do not know what a holeshot is, it is when you are first place crossing the first turn at the start. There will usually be an object that is above the first turn on the supercross tracks. In motocross, there is usually a white line. So, just make sure you are first place at the first turn.
Some tips that may help are:
- Play on rookie difficulty.
- Hold in the clutch, gas, and forward on the left analog stick. Do not do anything with the right analog stick. When the gate drops, let go of the clutch (obviously) and keep holding forward. You may start a wheelie, but do not slow down, your wheelie will soon stop. After your front wheel was touched the ground again, stop holding forward and just continue to the first turn.

Great Solution, just to add I found that when the computer opponents starting revving thier engines the gate was going to drop very soon, meaning that you could let go of the brake about a second after they started doing that.

Do you have to finish the race? I've gotten well over 20 "wins" over the first line and no achv.

I've found a way to get a hole shot almost 100% of the time. You just have to get the timing right. This will make it very easy to get them as long as your bike is reasonably fast. It will be reasonably fast, since the game requires you to use a certain class of vehicles for a given race. You'll exit the gate first with my technique. Make sure you also cross the 1st turn, indicated by a white line or object (Credits to MxSvnty4).
I found this new technique from trying to follow a comment.

The technique:
I experimented with the timing a little bit and found something that works well. Once you hear the engines of the other racers revving,: Immediately or after a half to a full second, hold the clutch , the gas , and forward on the left analog stick
(Credits to MxSvnty4). When I did this, as long as I got the timing correct, I launched out of the gate in 1st place. Make sure to release the clutch when the gate begins to drop. This technique works very well.

At the start of each MX or ATV race you should notice a white line at the first corner or at the end of the first straight. The driver who is the first one to pass this line wins the ‘holeshot’. This can be won on the ‘Motocareer’ or even online so try to pass that line first 10 times to get this trophy.
