How to unlock the Precious Medals achievement in MX vs. ATV Reflex - Definitive Guide

There are 4 challenges on each map.
The Trailblazer, Hill Climb and Target Practice markers are pointed out for you. The Discovery challenge is not. They are blue flags located around the maps that you must find.

There are 3 in the first 2 maps, and 9 in the last one.
They are very hard to find and can take a long time.

Hillsgrove NY

A1 - Right side of square, middle up, Valley area.
C4 - Bottom right corner on overlook
E1 - Bottom middle, muddy island type area by shore

Reyes AZ

B4 - Right on bottom line of square, bout middle left to right. Ontop of ridge with one cactus overlooking sandy area
B2/C2 - It's on the border, about halfway up the square. In "tunnel" in semi-hidden path in mountains
D3 - About a 3rd up the square, towards right side, ontop of ridge.

Icarus, MT

A1 - Top middle of the square, it's on a road overlooking a cloud filled valley.
A2/A3 - it's on the border of those squares towards center of square by waterfall
B2 - Left Middle of square, on the side of the road
B4 - Towards top middle of square, ontop of a mountain range.
B5 - Middle of square on roadside just follow the road that goes that way and you'll pass it.
C2 - Lower Right area of the square. It's on top of the mountain.
E1 - Towards left border of square, about 2/3s up, on the side of the road in the snow.
E2/D2 - On the border line, about 1/3 up from bottom of square, on top of mountain.
E5 - Towards top middle of square in a snowy cave

For the C2 flag in Icarus Mt. if you get the E2/D2 flag first and then go west from that flag staying on the mountain it is the easiest way to get the flag. Otherwise you are trying to climb up a really steep mountain and it takes awhile.

I found the buggy to be the easiest vehicle to get all the flags with. But any of the trucks or UTV's will work just as well.

I HIGHLY recommend using a buggy to get the flags, do the hill climbs and do the beat the clocks. THey help tremendously.

The only thing I ended up doing using a buggy instead of a bike was getting the flag on top of the mountain in Icarus. Not sure if you could do that on a bike but the guide suggested switching to something else.

For target practice you might want to first just ride through the course to see where the markers really are. At least I had this one marker that was off on the compass (basically told me I was riding right underneath it despite it actually being more to the right) and it messed up my first few attempts on Hillsgrove.

The following movies make things easier. Thanks to josh7199 on Youtube, I am able to provide videos detailing the flag locations.

For the people having trouble to reach the 9th flag of the last video (or trouble during hillclimb in general), switch to a buggy (press start => vehicle list => sport buggy) as it's so much better suited to climb mountains.

There are 3 Free Ride maps in the MotoCareer which are Hillsgrove New York, Reyes Arizona and Icarus Montana. Each map has 4 challenges. They are the Trail Blazer, Hill Climb, Target Practice and Discovery challenges. The first three are accessed via red, green or orange flags which are pointed out by indicators on your compass.
Trail Blazer: This requires you to find the fastest way to get from one point to another. The race is made so that an obvious path is visible if you look close enough. For example, you may feel compelled to go in between two hills since your indicator points there. Since there's no track, GPS or anything like it to guide you, you may get stuck somewhere or end up on a very long path. The only indicator you have is the icon showing where the finish line is. This challenge is easy. It may just take a couple tries. You'll probably get the first two on your first try. The one at Icaras MT is the hardest. Look up a video for a speed run of this challenge. Get a fast bike and upgrade it as much as you can. You need to follow the main path, and then jump to the path on the left. Go straight on this path to your destination. That's the fastest route.
Hill Climb: Here you're required to climb a steep hill. You need to reach specified distance to get bronze, silver and gold. There's a maximum incline grade that your bike can handle. At some point the bike will not move and will be held by your engine's power if you're holding the gas button. If you find that a section is too steep, try to move sideways to gain more momentum so that you can use it to climb further. Look for paths that aren't steep if you find yourself on a really steep area.
Target Practice: Here you're required to touch a specified number of targets in a given amount of time to get a bronze, silver or gold medal. It may take a few practice runs to get gold medals on these challenges. You need to get used to the paths and approach angles for the jumps and the overall path you'll use.
Discovery: For these challenges you have to find blue flags on the maps. There are 4 on the first two maps and 9 on the last map. You can use the guide from Rizzo783902 above to find their locations. The steam community has made guides with pictures for these. Here are links to them:

There are four free-ride challenges to complete in each of the three maps and you will need to obtain the gold medals in all of them for this trophy to unlock. The challenges are Discovery, Hill Climb, Target Practice, and Trail Blazer.

Hillgrove, NY

For the first of the 3 free-ride locations, Hillgrove’s challenges aren’t too hard. You will be able to do all of them easily. On the target practice challenge be on the lookout for your next target before you hit the one you’re aiming at. If you’re well prepared for them then you should breeze through. For the discovery, follow this video to lead you to all 3 of the flag locations.

Reyes, AZ

Next is Reyes. This is where they start to get a little more challenging. The hill climb took me a few tries using the ‘Blaze 250R’ because you will find that you fall backwards as it gets steeper. You will get no such problem using a sport 2 truck or buggy. Reyes’ 3 discovery locations are shown in the video below.

Icarus, MT

The final map is the hardest. The challenges are on a much broader scale than the last two. There are 9 flags compared to the 3 in each of the other maps. A sport 2 truck is a definite for the Trail Blazer and Hill Climb challenges. For Trail Blazer, I cut the first corner by driving up the hill. Then if you take care in coming off it so you don’t hit trees then the 45 second time limit for gold becomes more accessible. You’ve just got to experiment with cutting the corners and you will find the right route for you. The target practice will need a bike with the highest top speed you can find to reach the high targets. Find the way the targets flow and keep practicing to get them all within the time limit. The video below shows the route to all 9 discovery flags.
