How to unlock the I'm Worth It achievement in NBA 2K12 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is gained once you perform well for a season and are in the last year of your contract.

After the rookie showcase you'll automatically get a 2-year deal with a team option. So either way you choose to go you'll have to play at least 2 seasons, and with key games plus playoffs I'd guess around 35 games, to get a new contract.

If you perform poorly in your 2nd year the team won't use the team option on you, which is where the team decides whether or not to keep you on for a third year, however if you do perform poorly just to get out of the option, other teams in the league will look at it the same way and you won't get a contract.

So, aim for 3 seasons, and make sure your 3rd season is the best. By the 3rd season I was 86 overall PF so I was one of the best in the league which meant I would get more money anyway and I played my fair share of games not just key games so that LeBron wouldn't get the MVP again...

Once the third season was up I was a free agent, you have a choice of certain teams that are interested in you, plus your original team. Choose the team you wish and you'll see their offer straight up and length. If it is over 10M your good to go. If it is 9M that's fine, you'll just have to ask for more money, ask a couple of times. (You'll probably have no idea what I'm talking about here but by the time you get to negotiating you will) If it doesn't go up to 10M or they get annoyed and decide not to sign you, it's not the end of the world. You won't be able to play with that team, but you can move on to the next team that is willing to get you.

If your first offer is around 8M you'll have a tough time getting it to 10M. On the 10.2M offer I received I was only able to get it up to 11.1M before they said enough was enough. If you're at 9M it's possible maybe not with one team, but one team should let you raise it up. If you're at 7M...you're going to have to go for the shortest contract and play it all out again.

Good luck!

@Ginuwine I'm in my 2nd season and i have gone from a 63 ovr to a 73 already. I'm a PF and have only played the key games. I averaged about 6PPG and 4.5 RPG my rookie year and won rookie of the year. Make sure you do all your drills when they are available. Some are very easy and earn you 400 skill pts for silver or gold. If you get a gold it will also add one pt to a random attribute that it lists. When you spend your skill points first thing you want to max out is Offensive and Defensive awareness. You have to go into where you spend your points and hit right or left bumper to go to "mental" attributes. It is cheap to buy Off and DEF awareness and every time you go up like 3-5 levels on each you gain a full point on your overall ranking. I think i was a 71 after my rookie year only playing key games and not even doing that well. All your stats that you get while simulating count toward your career as well, so the requirements for Hall of Fame you might need to get 5,000 career reb. Simulated games count towards this. In my 2nd season i only have 8 key games to play. You can check by going into schedule and the key games will have a box around them on the schedule. So 8 games i will have to play this season which is pretty quick and easy and i hope to be almost an 80 at the end of it as i am now scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 reb in the games i play. You get skill points for simulated games too for all the milestones you complete and i guess how well your player does in the simulated games. If you have any other ?'s just send me a message

By switching to a different team, will this affect contract deals or payment?

What were your stats like for your first 3 season? and do you know how much of an effect that has on their contract offerings?

Make sure if you are simulating your games to turn up simulation quarters to the max length of 12 minutes.

I'm a 90 right now and I'm just starting the second round of the playoffs in my first season, and I'm yet to bump my Off and Def Awareness.

i was a 94 rated SF on the wizards (btw my favorite team) when it was time to negotiate. back to back MVP and nba champions, and the BEST they could do was two years for 1.8 mil a season? thats garbage. I took my talents to the lakers for 14.8 mil a year. then i get into the next season and see that the wizard signed JAN VESLEY to a 6 year, 35 million dollar extension! WHAT!! i'll take kobe, pau, and bynum any day.

I was a level 94 point guard and got offers ranging between 12 & 14 million a year.

How many games are youguys playing and how many are you simluating? 3 seasons of playing each game will take forever. I love this game but when it comes to achievements I'm not used to working so hard lol. Does playing just the key games and simming the rest get your stats up in time? Thanks

If I request a trade during regular season, am I able to accept or decline an offer or am I automatically traded to a team?

Long story short, you must do very well and play 3 seasons in order to get the chance for this to come up. You can save right before you go into the off season so if you mess up a team, you can reload the save and try to negotiate. My player was a 91 overall and was offer 13M before even negotiating.

After completing your rookie contract (2 years+team option 3rd year.) you will be able to negotiate a new contract.

If you play poorly your second year the team may not pick up their option on you, however this will make it much more difficult to get a contract worth 10m. Its best to just play good for the first 3 seasons. At the end of the 3rd season you will be able to negotiate a new contract, Look for any offer either over 10m, or over 9m and try to ask for for more money to get you over the 10m hump.

From what I read if teams are only offering you 7-8m per year, you may be unable to get them to pay you 10, its best in that situation to take a 1 year deal at the 7-8m and play very good that year, and go through the entire process again and look for a 10m contract.

You will receive the trophy by the end of the 4th season in the NBA. Several teams will be interested in you and will offer to sign a contract with them. You can also look through the offers of all teams and choose the most suitable one for yourself (namely, the contract that costs at least $10 million, otherwise you will not receive the trophy).
