How to unlock the Ultimate Teammates achievement in NBA 2K12 - Definitive Guide

In the history of the NBA their have always been those two guys you could always count on to carry your team to victory. These are your ultimate teammates.

This achievement can easily be done with two controllers, but there is a trick to getting it setup. Make sure you have a second controller powered on. Once in the Legends Showcase menu select Pick-Up Game. Then select 1v1. Choose any two legends and press start. At the next screen it will say Team 1 underneath your gamertag. Using the second controller make sure you change it to where it says Team 2 underneath Player 2. Start this game and then once in the game quit back out to the Legends Showcase menu. Now you will have two controllers activated for the 2v2 Teammate Challenge.

Now at the Legends Showcase menu select the 2v2 Teammate Challenge. Once on the team select screen press the Y button to change the difficulty if you desire. I changed the difficulty to Rookie so more of my shots would go in.

Pick your favorite pair of legends and start the game. You will now notice that your second controller will be controlling the other team. After you score a basket use the second controller to run the other team out of bounds so you can get the ball back. Beat every single team that gets in your way and show them why you are ultimate teammates.

*Note*
If you don't play this in one setting you will need to do the two controller method again before you continue where you left off.

How many teams do you have to beat for the achievement?

Great question. There is fifteen total teams in the 2v2 Teammate Challenge. After you pick your team you will play against fourteen of the best 2-Man teams in NBA history.

Thanks Unholy Angst. That is a nice technique and faster too. Let me know if you would like me to include it in my solution and give you credit for it. Thanks again.

After 4 or 5 games, my 2nd controller always switches to my team. I even made sure to skip all the cutscenes.

This will also work with 4 controllers, and probably just 3. I kept having the problem with my controller on the other team switching back to my team part of the way through the challenge. The 4 controllers solved this, ensuring I didn't even have to play with any computers in the game. Easily beat the 2v2 playing against myself each game, and achievement popped.

Perfect solution, but I found a slightly faster way (for me) to get through it. Instead of running the second controller out of bounds immediately throw a lob pass for a dunk (LT+B). Every once in a while they will actually get a dunk on it, so don't try it until you've already pitched a shutout. About a 3rd of the time the ball will go out of bounds, and you'll get the ball up top like normally, but with less down time. About a 3rd of the time you will intercept the pass and score. About a 3rd of the time the offense will catch the ball so just lob again and you should catch it and put it back.
