How to unlock the BCS Conference Invite achievement in NCAA Football 09 - Definitive Guide

I got this on my first try thanks to bdg7884 from Xbox360achievements.org

Start a season with TCU (They are in the MWC)and go undefeated, and win the National Championship. When you advance to the next season it should unlock. If not have a save right before the National Championship, reload, win, and see if it works. If not just keep reloading. This method only takes one season.

you might not necessarily be able to get into the Nat'l Championship with TCU. i tried and tried but the best i could do was the rose bowl. i went on to win that and go on a second undefeated season. i was invited into the big 12 after winning the fiesta bowl at the end of season 2. so if you don't get the achievement after one season, just keep on truckin.

just make sure when you play the national championship just completely destroy the other team if you beat them bad enough you should be guaranteed a BCS conference invite

i played as TCU and it took me 2 seasons going 12-0 after the 2nd season it said id be taking someones place in the BCS Conference.

so you should add that it should take 2 years of simming with perfect seasons.

might help your vote ratio. =]

I played as TCU and it only took me one year. I was #3 for awhile so i took control of Ole Miss who was playing #1 LSU and won. This made Ohio State #1 and TCU #2. I won the National Championship 55-28 and when I advanced to the next year I got the invite to the Big 12. Thanks for this!

This doesn't always work, I set my season up to where I played at #1 Georgia and at #2 Oklahoma back to back and shut them out in their home stadiums. After these two wins it only brought me from unranked to #24 and just slowly crawled my way to #3 to round out the season. Won the Rose bowl against Ohio State and no invite.

I did get the Oil Tycoon achievement in preseason recruiting, hah.

I struggled with this achievement (played/simmed a total of 10 seasons). What I believe to be my downfall was that I tried to combine this with the Mr. February achievement and I'd manually go after 5 and 4 star players (I played as TCU). While my team was undefeated, the talent on the team was low which made me miss those star players, along with the 3 star players, so my draft classes were always weak. Then the start of each season, I'd be ranked anywhere from #20 to unranked. Once I started letting the computer automatically pick prospects, my preseason ranked kept improving, then 3 seasons later I finally get a bid. Hope this helps others that are struggling.

To get a bid to the national championship you need to be ranked #1 or 2. If you're hitting week 13 and still not i the top 2, go through the NCAA schedule and play as the teams above you, manually making sure they lose that week. That should shoot you up into the top 2. Unlocked for me after the first season winning the BCS Championship game

Something very important that isn't mentioned anywhere: in order to get the invite from the conference, the conference first has to have a school they're willing to kick out to make room for you. So it doesn't matter how many national championships you win with TCU if there isn't a program in the Big 12 struggling enough to kick out to make room for TCU. In addition to focusing on TCU, focus on a couple bottom feeders in the Big 12 and see how close they get to becoming 1-star schools.

And because of this factor, any method anyone says is "guaranteed" to work in a certain time frame isn't actually a guarantee. It matters just as much that there's a team worthy of getting booted as it does having your team be good enough.

BYU worked for me on the first year and first try...along with simming all the games and being undefeated on going into the national championship and winning it all.

Ok here it is. Change slides in your favor, and put 1 minute quarters. Start a dynasty w/TCU and sim the easy games but play the hard ones, saving after each game. After you win the national title the achievement may not pop but just keep reloading your last save( save after you win the national championship) and eventually it will. YOU DON NOT have to save before you win the national title and waste time re playing. YOU CAN SAVE after you win. I just got it!!!

No need to change sliders or anything, just when you get to the latter parts of the season play one of the games against the team ahead of you. For example. Say Michigan and Ohio State play (they do every year, so dont tell me its not a game) Ohio State is number 1 you (TCU) are number 3. Take control of Michigan and beat Ohio State, instantly number 2 almost guarenteed.

This doesn't even work I spent 5 hours with 10 undefeated seasons and I didn't even got an invite or played the National Championship. Way to go with a false guide dude.

So I have played 6+ perfect seasons and still have not been invited. This achievement is also a luck based achievement. I need other teams to do poorly while I myself do great. Every season I go perfect. I really consider you revise your guide as it is wrong. There is no guarantee. Also, before I did my 6+ season, and also have 2 other dynasties with TCU going perfect, each with a diffferent ranking. So I can confirm there is no guarantee, and you really should rewrite that section of your guide.

Got this after 1 perfect season and 1 reload. There are no guarantees you will reach rank #2 or BSC invite, but this method does work. I only played 1 game (#3 Oklahoma while I was still unranked) Didnt manipulate the schedule but I think it could help to win against stronger opponents (maybe some of the other lower BCS schools to help insure they get booted out?)

I can confirm that you don't even need to win the BCS Championship. You just need to make it there and just reload until you get it. BOOM BABY DONE!!!!

The guide isn't false, he just used stronger language than he needed to. If you start one season as TCU and go undefeated with no other teams going undefeated you will more than likely get invited to a BCS conference.

You will need to ensure the other teams do not go undefeated, so to do this just go to NCAA schedule and play one of the games of the other schools, but as their opponent and beat them. This does not count as having a multiple team dynasty, I did it myself and got this very achievement doing it this way.

Did three undefeated season with TCU. No bueno. Simmed 2 seasons with a 10-3 & 11-2 Boise State. Achievement popped. I used the default rosters. Boise got invited to the PAC-12 (Washington State got kicked out)

Worked fine for me. Played just two games, the Oklahoma game and the Rose Bowl game against USC. The Big 12 invited me to replace Baylor

As usual (while playing older games) I found that the solution listed above didn't work for me. After spending a few hours getting TCU through three undefeated seasons, with three corresponding BCS National Championships, still no invite.

So I decided to try a different method. I chose Boise State as my Dynasty team, and simmed through a few seasons (without worrying if they went undefeated or made it to the National Championship game). After the second season (and about 10 minutes total time simming), the achievement popped.

Again I imagine the TCU method works, but if you lack the patience, try simming a few seasons with Boise State. You're liable to get the achievement in a much shorter time-span.

Question about this.... Does the entire school team get invited into the conference? Or just you as a coach? I keep getting coaching job offers to teams in the BCS conference, but not sure if that's what it means...

The team has to be able to join a bcs conference. Not just you as a coach

After trying the above solutions with TCU and no luck, I tried this method and got the invite to the PAC-12 after my third season with Boise State. Thank you!!!

In case anyone is still looking to get this, here's what I've found to be far and away the best solution. I spent hours trying the top solution listed here and when trying this one, unlocked it first try! This is NOT my solution and all credit goes to Hammerdrake from X360a.

"Okay, so I tried Boise State, TCU, BYU, and ND. Simmed through at least 3 seasons with each, beating Big 12/Big 10 teams as appropriate, beating high ranked teams, going undefeated, winning NC, with many, many reloads for the NC game and NEVER got the invite. I was getting REAL frustrated and looked for answers online with little luck. Seems some people called out pure randomness and others claimed you must win NC and/or beat teams of the conference you expected to join, but none of this worked for me.

But then I got thinking and wondered if it wasn't a combo of these things that have to hit just right. But I think what is MOST critical is that the "Conference" has to first decide to kick a team. You can do whatever you want, but if the conference doesn't boot somebody, they won't ask you to join - and this maybe where some of the randomness comes in.

So this worked for me FIRST TIME - and is a complete nerf - but at this point I just wanted those last 25 gamerpoints! I edited TCU for a bunch of Superman stats, then went in and just destroyed Baylor (rating of 14 overall!). Loaded a new Dynasty as TCU, had to auto-reorder the depth chart and then put Big 12 teams (esp Baylor) on my schedule and just simmed the season. I went undefeated, Baylor unvictorious and immediately after accepting the contract extension, got the achievement and guess what, Big 12 wanted to boot Baylor and get me in. Definately happens before the "Proceed to off-season" prompt shows up.

I've put the roster in my locker, gamertag: Hammerdrake, roster file BCS. If it works for you, I'd love to hear it."

*Note: I'm not sure if the roster update is still available as I'd imagine most things server related with this game are shut down.

I did the edits myself and made sure Baylor went 0-12. With TCU I won every game in my first season and finished #5, then in season 2 I won all but 1 game and ended up winning the Fiesta Bowl at #9. Make a save before the national championship game and keep reloading if you don't get it first try.

Start a season with TCU (They are in the MWC)and go undefeated, and win the National Championship. When you advance to the next season it should unlock. If not have a save right before the National Championship, reload, win, and see if it works. If not just keep reloading. This method only takes one season. ***You can also try Hawaii but that method takes 4 undefeated seasons, instead of one season***

I tried Boise State, and it unlocked after three seasons. I went undefeated the first season, and won my bowl (not national championship, I was like a #4 rank). In year two, I simmed straight through, undefeated, and lost my bowl game. Year three was the same, undefeated and lost the bowl game. I let years 2 and 3 sim straight through, and I really didnt care if I went undefeated in those. After year three, I was invited to the Pac-10. Once the invite pops up, the achievement unlocks, and you don't have to accept the invite if you don't want to. The invite screen came up after I simmed the BCS Title game, before the off-season activities started.

Hope this helps out everyone getting frustrated with this achievement. Some have reported success with Hawai'i, but a 4-8 sim my first season made me try Boise State. Boise State seems like a solid enough team to just let them sim through, without needing to reload every time you lose. It is definately not necessary to go undefeated for 5+ seasons to receive an invite.
