How to unlock the Perfect From the Start achievement in NCAA Football 11 - Definitive Guide

This one can be a bit trickier than it sounds. If you've played NCAA Football before, you know that even if you stay undefeated, you can still drop below #1. This, as you would know, is incredibly annoying.

If you're looking for this achievement, you're probably also looking for a number of others. You can get a number of achievements in one Dynasty season if you're careful and remember a very important tip:

TURN OFF THE AUTOSAVE. You can find this setting by going into "My NCAA" and then "System Settings". Trust me... this will save you heartache later, but you need to remember to manually save as you play. (To quicksave, click your left thumbstick in any menu.)

Make sure you start as the current #1, Alabama (even if you hate Alabama. It's only for one season. ;-) Check your rank every week. If you see that you've fallen, reload that earlier save, and resim. If you're having a problem with some team jumping you, there's a trick you can use.

Under "ESPN" and "Scores/Schedules" you can find that team and play against them. Set all your settings to max and the CPU to minimum. That way that team is eliminated. This also works when you're working on Survivor.

Alright, will do; I've got a bit of a ways to go yet through this season, but I'll let you know at the end. And if it doesn't pop, I'll just start up a Bama season like you suggest here. Thanks anyway.

You didn't start as Bama? It's possible that that might be the problem, that you need to start as THEIR #1 at the beginning, which would be kinda lame because it means you MUST play as Bama even if you don't want to. (Nothin' against the Tide.)

I'm sad to say I can't help you test that theory -- I actually got this one by accident while going for the "Don't Call It A Comeback" cheevo. I simmed an entire season as Bama on a low difficulty -- just straight through to the end of the season -- and it popped at the end.

Leave it to EA to make another cheeve that you can work your ass off to get nowhere... and then pop when you just sim it.

Congrats on getting it! ^_^

Mite want to mention that adding higher ranked teams to conference I did teams ranked 2-6 saved after each win reloaded after ever lose or when ranked changed... worked like a charm tho..

Oy. I don't really know the answer. Like you, I just saw that I was #1 on the main page until it popped. It's possible that the other poll makes a difference. Which would suck. Especially since you have to do it again. :-(

If you get it to pop, mind letting me know so I can edit the solution? I also don't know if a second season counts or not, but it would make SENSE for it to pop after any season where you're #1 the whole way through.

Sorry, mate. :-(

No, I didn't; I'm a senior at USC (graduating in May!), and I've been having fun playing through seasons where the Trojans weren't slammed by post-season bowl bans and scholarship reductions. I've often wondered what it would be like to play this game if the developers included things like players getting suspended for grades and drug use, or for teams getting hit with heavy sanctions. It'd be... interesting, to say the least.

But anyway, you could be right about needing to start as their #1, though I agree it would be kinda lame. I had run through one full season of being a consistent #1 (or so I thought), but who knows. As I said, if I still don't get it after finishing up this next season, I'll start one as the Tide and just run through it.

Very good tips and any team in dynasty.

I just want it to be a good game. The Tide has some injuries, but they have depth. Our QB is a true freshman. I'm a bit concerned about that.

In any case, good luck. Go Lions!

Do you need to remain #1 in all polls, or do you only need to stay #1 in the coaches poll (which I believe is the poll used to show your ranking on your dynasty's main page)?

I ask because I thought I had this cheevo locked after staying #1 all season winning the NCAA championship my previous season, but it didn't pop. So about four games into my next season, my dynasty home page has shown that I'm still #1, and so I don't worry -- until, on a whim, I check the all rankings page and see that I'm #1 in the coaches poll but #2 in the media poll.

Am I screwed for this cheevo for this particular season?

I used what Sashamorning said except for one thing that made it significantly easier. Use Alabama of course and save every week that you win and remain #1. Move #2 Ohio State, #3 Texas, and another good team to be independents. I was going once and Wisconsin played Ohio State and they were 3 and 2 respectively. The winner passed me in the BCS Standings either way. Avoid those big games by spreading out the big teams so you won't be passed.

*Note: Switching Ohio State or Texas with Notre Dame creates a matchup with USC. If USC is undefeated and Ohio State or Texas beats them you will be passed but an upset by USC will not have them passing you.

Good luck! This should be easy if you're patient.

Good call. I didn't think of customizing the independents.

You can also put sprinkle some big schools into Conferences like the MAC or C-USA or the Sun Belt

You should use Alabama because they are already #1, that way you can get this in one Dynasty season. You have to win every game to stay #1. Save after every game. Try to check the top 25 polls every week too. If a team is getting close to you, go to scores and schedules. Play their game and make sure they lose. After that they shouldn't be a bother. If it says you're #2, you need to reload your save and make sure whomever is behind you loses their next game.
