The achievement for qualifying for the Amateur playoff would appear to require your team to finish within a certain range of points during regular EAUHL games over the course of a month. If you have enough points to qualify the tournament will be played the first four days of the following month. So you play your qualification games in April and then the playoffs for that month occur May 1-4.

It's not completely understood what it takes to qualify for the Amateur playoffs but it's suspected that a team rating must fall in a certain range. It has been speculated that a minimum of 470 might be the lowest rating that will earn your team a birth in the Amateur cup.

The quality of your opponent greatly affects your overall points. If you win or tie against someone with high overall points your overall points will increase. If you are beating someone with lower overall points your point total will only increase incrementally.

What is known is that you must play at least one EAUHL game to have an opportunity to qualify for the monthly playoff.

During the month of April 2014 I played 4 games against a dummy account and went 3-1-0 with no DNFs and I finished with 477 points. I qualified for the Amateur Cup with this point total. About one day before the month ended I was 33rd overall on the monthly leaderboard, out of about 45 people.
