How to unlock the EASHL™ Legend achievement in NHL 12 - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires you to have 150 games played, 75 wins, and an A- overall grade. This can be done in either EASHL or Online Team Play.

To boost this, you'll need four to six players. Meet up in an empty lobby or create your own room and set up an Online Team Play match. One goalie by themselves, the rest on the opposing team as skaters.

The goalie uses cn_LB and cn_A to free skate behind the net and wait for the remaining boosters to score a goal. Once they have and one minute of game time has passed on the clock (so once it's below 19:00) the goalie can quit out, rewarding the opposing team with a quick win and stats. Goalie stats are kept separate from skater stats, so there's no negative impact on the goalie.

As for overall grade, I'll sum up the important parts from a post on EA forums: (http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7694928.page)

1) Only the last 20 games count towards your rating.
2) Your stats are weighted towards whichever position you play the most.
3) More recent games are weighted heavier than older games.

Overall grade is split into three categories: Position Score, Team Play, and Stats.
Position Score is the easiest, follow where the blue arrow is telling you to be and you'll consistently have an A- minimum there.
Stats, so long as you get at least an assist and the opposing team doesn't score, you'll walk out with an A+.
Team Play is the most difficult, counting completed passes, turnovers, blocked shots, etc. You want to keep games short, as the longer a game goes on, the more chances for bad plays to lower your team play happen.

The best setup for gaining stats involves at least two people on LW and LD (or RW and RD) with C being AI or human. You really only want a human C if they can consistently win faceoffs. The person looking to boost stats in those last 20 games should be LW. LD has potential to get good stats but isn't guaranteed. C is most likely to get dumped on due to the faceoff. Assuming your team wins or ties up the faceoff, there's three options:
1) Puck gets tied up or faceoff won and puck goes to LW. LW gets the puck, skates out and around, scores on the empty net. LW gets A+ all around.
2) Faceoff won, puck goes to LD. LD passes the puck up to LW, who scores on the empty net. LW and LD get A+ all around.
3) Faceoff won, puck goes to anyone else. They pass to LD, LD passes up to LW, who scores on the empty net. All three get A+ all around.

At this point, it's important that the goalie does not wait for a stop in play; as soon as the clock is below 19:00, quit out. While this method is not foolproof, you can get around 25-30 games an hour with an excellent chance for high stats for the one or two closing in on the achievement.

I got into a room with a friend so it was 1v1. I would score a goal and make sure my stats were all A's. He would quit after the 1st period, but then it would not count toward my grades. We played a full game after that, I forgot if it counted or not. Im pretty sure it didnt count.

Then we started a game with a couple other people, as long as no one else quit (leaving just my friend on the other team), the game counted towards my grades.

So does disconnecting stop counting wins after awhile? Just like in versus?

Disconnecting doesn't affect it. As I mentioned above, "To boost this, you'll need four to six players." You can't use this boosting method with less than four people, otherwise the game doesn't count.

Do the games have to ranked? I could of swore I was doing this by invites but now it says invites are unranked now.

It's been a while since I've done it, but I'd say yes, they do.

All i can say about this achievement is that you have to be patient. Don't try to rush through games because you WILL NOT get this achievement. The most important stat to worry about is team play, you need an A or A- if you want it to move, anything B or lower will drop you down or not budge at all depending on what level you are. Just play safe, pass a lot and if you're out on a PK dump the puck, it boosts your team play.

Postion score is easily attained by following the arrow, and stat can only be achieved by being on the ice when a goal is scored, scoring a goal, or getting an assist.

Just play, you can't rush it.
(Scoring goals isn't important. If you rush to the net rather than passing and lose the puck to a poke-check or a body-check your team play will drop drastically. Make your forward a playmaker and just try setting up nice plays simply by passing or dumping the puck during a PK)

The easiest way do this you need two things
1. Patience
2. At least three or four players

First thing you want to do is go to Xbox Live community lobbies. But instead of joining an OTP lobby create your own ranked lobby with a password to avoid randoms. Next have one person play goalie and the others 2 play forwards on the opposite team or both players play center. Then get 3 points in the first period to guarantee an A+ in stats then for the rest of the game work on position score and team play. And either just waste the clock or take shots easy saved shots on the goalie to guarantee saves pending of course your goalie skills. That will help your goalie on his or her stats and if your a sniper it helps you also. If you play as a playmaker or defenseman it would be ideal to get assists and have clean passes. Try to avoid being a powerfoward, 2-way forward, grinder and tough guy. Now finally at the end of the game you should get at a minimum Skater grade of an A- usually gives you A+ in position and stats and a B+ in teamplay if not A+ across the board. Oh and one more thing finish the game DO NOT QUIT OUT.
I'm currently a superstar 2 as a goalie and a superstar 1 as a skater with an A- in both positions.

You need following stats to unlock Legend 1 status:

150 Games played
A- Overall Grade
75 Wins

Remember to play your role and concentrate especially on Overall Grade, that is the hardest thing to achieve for many players.

To achieve EASHL™ Rookie, EASHL™ Pro, and EASHL™ Legend you will need to either play FULL games (No QUITTING) of EASHL or Online Team Play (OTP)/Drop-In games. If you play unranked EASHL games, then those games will not improve the skill level of your pro. Along with the amount of games you played, you must also win a certain amount of games per level, and your overall performance grade has to increase eventually to an A- or better. You get graded on staying in position, scoring, assisting on goals and not making mistakes. This may be hard for the average user.

Thanks to Kahuna for the extra tip below about how the position you pick determines part of your grade based on your play.

You also you get graded slightly differently depending on which position you play. For example Snipers get rated a little more on goals, Playmakers on passing, Power Forwards on hits, Defenders on goals conceded, etc.

Here the requirements for each EASHL level:

  • Rookie- 10+ games played, 4 wins, and C- overall grade.
  • Pro- 25+ games played, 10 wins, and B- overall grade.
  • Legend- 150+ games played, 75 wins, and A- overall grade.
