How to unlock the One Great Career achievement in NHL 12 - Definitive Guide

Alright well this achievement is a grind but its not that much of one.i just got this achievement today in 143 games with an average of 19.98 points per game. There are a couple tips that will help you get this achievement alot faster.

Obviously dont play as a defenseman, but pick Centre instead. There will be many times when the face off is in the opponents end of the ice and you win the face off and hope that the Dman who gets it scores a goal giving you an assist.

adjust the sliders in your favor for everything that is available. This will obviously make your player stronger, faster and more accurate in everything he does. Also make sure to adjust how the opponents goalie is affected by screens from your teammates.

Turn off the penalties in the game so you dont have to worry about taking bad penalties or losing time when your team is on the PK or PP.

Turn off the offsides and icing so that you can pretty much be a goal suck and stay in the offensive zone all the time.

Last but not least focus on goals more then assists.i got just over 1000 points in my first 82 games with a balance of assists and goals but in the 61 games i played in my second season i ended up with 1500 goals and 300 by never passing unless there was no chance of me getting a goal.

Hey, I'm going for this but I ran into a problem. About half way through season number 4 after a 63 - 0 game it seemed to reset my stats. I no longer lead the league in points or goals, instead it shows I have 36 goals. Before the game I was just over 1000. I still lead in plus minus with 1103, and it says I have 1524 points towards the legend milestone of 2858 points. But the statistics of this season seem to have been erased. Will it still count towards the achievement?

This is probably going to sound dumb, but how do I adjust the sliders? A buddy of mine did it for his season and was getting an insane amount of points, but I don't actually know how to do it myself...

to gdog... - Any goals or points got by simming do not count toward achievement progress, but DO count towards the in-game milestones for career and season. Checking your personal stats will show you your real number without the sim points.

Does anybody know if points scored during playoffs count? I know the real NHL record doesn't include those [they are a separate category] but this says "career" points.

@unlimitedstream I don't think playoff counts, when I lookat career milestones it only lists the points I have earned in regular season. It didn't count fir 7 assist achievement of 5 goals in a game either

if you go to where it says "Career Statistics" under "My Pro" is where it will show you your real points.

Ok so I was working on this achievement and I had around 400 points and then when I went to check there was a different created pro. So all of my starts are gone. My character is still there with all the goals and assists, but I can't track it. How can I switch it back

So I am literally 200 points away from getting this. The odds of someone replying are slim I know but the people's who's points messed up on career stats but show up milestones get the achievement properly? I had multiple saves going in case this happened but even going back to a proper save and playing one game brings my points in the career stats to be messed up again

yea it happened to me in my second year,i had about 1100 goals around game 48 in my second season and it reset on me.just check your career performance under milestones and look at the milestone of breaking the great ones record of 2858 and it will still show that you got the points.

@HayabusaF1 the same thing happened to me!!!! except I'm at 703 but still it sucks! idk what's wrong! D: I'm thinking it has something to do with me making another game save to get the PPG achievement. I had advanced to the next season (3rd season) in that save, then basically went backwards into the 2nd season to continue the point boosting in another save

The guide that's here already is good, but I thought I'd go more in depth on how to actually get the points easily in Be a Pro mode. You should be able to get drastically more points per game than 20. I play with 5 minute periods and average well over 50 pts a game. Actually just scored 81 goals against Columbus as I was typing this up.

First, you want to definitely be a center. With the exception of a faceoff on the left side of the offensive zone (I won those to my right D), I won every faceoff with a deke. You can do this easily with the sliders in your favor by just holding LB and up on the right analog stick until the puck is dropped. There is no need to time it correctly.

I found the easiest way to score was to just glide towards to goalie after winning the faceoff at center ice and to watch where the goalie was positioned. Based on the look the goalie would give me, I would deke to the side he left open and score 95% of the time. If he is far to the left or right, you can actually just shoot and score most of the time. Here is a video of what it usually looked like:

http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/115851949

Also, keep in mind that the defense will never poke the puck away from you or hit you. You can skate right up the middle at the goalie with no problems. The only way you'll lose possession is if you fall from turning too quick. For this reason, I never called for passes that could be intercepted. I took the puck deep in my zone (the occasional times the other team got it) and took it all the way up ice.

If you already have the BAP achievements that correspond with PP and SH goals I would recommend turning off penalties since it slows down the game a bit, but it's not necessary by any means. I played with icing, offsides, and penalties all on.

Good luck and comment if you need any help.

I always just skated straight into the zone directly down the middle. This gave me the option to shoot/deke to either side which I wouldn't necessarily have if I came in at an angle. The defense (with the sliders all the way in your favor) will not do anything except skate with you so you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you aren't loose puck deking or turning too fast.

Not sure exactly what you were requesting, but I hope that helps you out.

You should put how you controlled your skater after winning the faceoff

Heres a friendly tip for those going for it:

Ea messed up. The points you get in NHL playoffs didn't count towards my actual progress. The true meter is not in the inital career proformance menu its actually the legend milestone #.

I had over 3000 points before it popped. You unlock the cheev when u unlock the video for 2858 points in a single career.

So only worry about regular season points!

For those of you who prefer a video tutorial to a text tutorial. I've made a video on how to score 70+ points a game. All info you need is in the video.

Enjoy!

Typical EA, giving us a ridiculous achievement to attempt to attain.cry

1. Adjust all sliders in your favor. Make your opponents zombies and make your team a god. Doing so will make your opponents not touch you or even go for the puck if you are just sitting there facing the boards not doing anything. An important tip other than the obvious ones like shooting accuracy and power, is to set your shot aim to auto. With manual you will actually have to aim your shots at the open parts of the net, while auto will do it for you without even thinking about it.

2. Goals and assists add to your point total. Focus mainly on goals because as the human player you have a better chance of scoring than your computer teammates.

3. ONLY regular season games count. No preseason points nor will playoff points add to your total.

4. Now for the math in this one...
I would aim for about 60 points per game, or 1 point per in game minute.
Actual game time will increase significantly, since you'll be scoring so much.
Assume about 30-45 real time minutes for each game.
2858 (points needed) / 60 (points per game) = 47.633 ~~ 48 games.
48 (# of games played) X 45 (approx. max time for a single game) =
2160 minutes. 2160 / 60 = 36 hours.

If you have any questions please ask in the comments. Feedback is also appreciated!

All points EARNED have to come in the NHL and ONLY regular season points count. Any points you earn by simulating DO NOT count towards this trophy. You actually have to play each BAP game and earn points in the games you play. If you have the sliders adjusted in your favor as states in the road map, then you should be able to earn 8-15 points game. Try to average 14 points a game, which is hard but not out of the question. You only get credit for regular season and playoff games so that’s an average of 100 games a year by 14 points is 2800 points. This can take between 2-3 season of BAP. Trophy unlocks after you EARN 2,858 NHL points.

If you start your BAP on classic settings, then you can actually play full 20 minute periods. You can net around 40-50 points a game going this method if you are using suggested game settings as stated in the road map. This method should only take you one season.

This means goals + assists. Only those goals and assists that you earn with your pros personally, without taking into account the match simulation mode, count towards the trophy. You can view the progress of the achievement in the main menu “Pros” - “Goals for Legends”. There is one unpleasant bug in the game - if in one season you score more than 999 goals or make 999 passes, the game will turn them into 0, so carefully monitor your pro's performance. The process of getting the trophy is not quick, it personally took me three partial seasons with periods of 20 minutes (in each season I played the first 40 matches in full, and then one period every fourth game (so as not to be demoted), the rest I simulated, since I was close to 999 points for goals or assists).
A couple of tips:
- After creating a career at the “Pro” level, you can adjust the game sliders in your favor in the career settings - this will make your life much easier.
- It is preferable to play as a center forward, since the bots score a lot of goals immediately after throwing the puck in the opponent’s zone, and then these goals will go to your piggy bank.
