How to unlock the Jack of All Trades achievement in NieR - Definitive Guide

The achievement unlocks when you complete your 20th side quest. Quest givers are easy to find and are identified by speech bubbles over their heads. Accept each quest, satisfy the quest's conditions, and return to the quest giver for completion. When you have completed 20 quests, the achievement will unlock. You can go to the menu where you can find info on your quests by pressing cn_start.

Since side quests are time consuming, I recommend deferring them to the second playthrough and concentrate on a speed run for your first playthrough in order to get this achievement:

There are two parts to the game and four endings. You get ending A by playing both parts all the way through. After that, you begin each game at the beginning of part 2. Your starting playing time is set according to how long you took to finish part 1 in your A playthrough.

So, to avoid a separate playthrough, the most efficient way to get 100% of the achievements is to play parts 1 and 2 as a speed run to get the A ending. Then, once you have the Lightspeed Fighter achievement, you will continue to play to get the B ending. You will start at the beginning of part 2. There are more than 30 side quests to be obtained in the second part so you can get all quest related achievements. Note that there are three achievements that have to do with side quests--this and the following two.

If you adopt the strategy of using the first playthrough to get the Lightspeed Fighter achievement to save yourself from doing a separate speedrun playthrough, note that there are four side quests that you should perform in part 1. Sheep are found only at the beginning of the game. Killing them is time consuming so make a save before killing 100 sheep for:

Once you have the Sheep Whisperer achievement, reload the game and accept Shopping List from the village florist. When that is complete, accept the follow-on quest from the village florist, A Return to Shopping. Also, accept the Boar Hunt side quest, perform it and return for the reward. Once you have the reward, make a save and unlock:

When the achievement pops, reload the save you made just before going on the boar ride.

Note: There are quite a few side quests that are only available in part 1 but the ones described above are the only ones required for the game's 100% achievement completion. There are enough side quests in part 2 with several to spare to ensure you get the three quest achievements so your only focus in part 1 need be on those that are achievement related. The only two that must be completed as part of your speed run game are the two florist missions described above. The Boar Hunt side quest is not required. However, having the boar horn allows you to ride the boar and cover distance more rapidly thus shortening your time in the speed run.

When time is no longer an issue (during your first playthrough if you decided not to do a speed run or working towards the B ending after completing a speed run during your first playtrhough to the A ending), perform all available quests. This achievement will pop after completing the 20th quest.
