How to unlock the King of the Lost Shrine achievement in NieR - Definitive Guide
*spoilers*
The boss in question here is the Gretel, the surviving statue in the Lost Shrine. You will encounter her when you make your way to the Lost Shrine from the back entrance to get the first Key Fragment.
Easiest way to dispatch is to spam Dark Blast on her unrelentingly, avoiding her ranged attacks.
As with all of the "Defeat Boss X within time Y" achievements, it is best to not attempt this achievement until a later playthrough.
I achieved it on my third play with the difficulty set to Easy. Honestly, I'm not sure how I didn't get it on my second play (I suppose I tried to melee her too much,) but she fell with absolute ease on my third play.
Achievement should pop after a short cinematic following the fight.
Good luck!

I just finished this battle in 10 seconds on my second play and didn't get the achievement. I did get the achievement for the following battle though. I checked online an apparently there are a lot of people who cannot get this achievement until their 3rd play through, so I believe it's a glitch or you cannot unlock it until then.

As an update, I did get this achievement on my third play. I also skipped all cut scenes. I missed a few other timed boss achievements the second time which leads me to believe they are partially glitched OR the cut scenes count as time towards the achievement, which is just lame.

Gretel is one of the guardians of the Lost Shrine, you will fight him near the beginning of part two. Skip all cutscenes, don't worry if you miss this trophy in your first playthrough, it will be much easier to obtain in New Game+.
At the beginning of the battle, stand in the light to kill off the smaller shades, Gretel will impervious to damage during this phase. Afterwards, pound him with your strongest magic attacks, while evading his own. Once his health reaches a certain level a timer will appear on a part of his body, inflict enough damage on the area before time runs out and a cutscene will play. After the cutscene, Gretel will will start a frenzy spinning attack, block or evade and then counter with an attack of your own, rinse and repeat. After several counters a final timer will appear, inflict enough damage and a final cutscene will play. If you managed it within the time limit the trophy will unlock.
