How to unlock the Protector of Facade achievement in NieR - Definitive Guide

This is indeed obtained during the battle with the wolf-shade boss that you fight after the king of facade's wedding. This is the boss you obtain the loyal cerberus fragment from.

This boss is the most agile boss in the game. It can reflect magic as well. The fight will start with a swarm of wolves which continue to spawn until the diaglogue is over and you have killed quite a few of them. These wolves are fairly agile as well, but at least they stay on the ground. They home in on the king of facade. As I tend to do, I recommend the spear for dealing with them combined with either dark whirlwind or dark phantasm to wipe out/damage many of the wolves at a time while still being able to chase them down assisted by the spears lunge attack. After all the wolves are dead, the boss will leap down and start charging, doing spinning flips towards you, and letting out reflective shields. Using a 2h sword vs this guy would be a fools errand. Even a 1h sword you have to get very lucky to land a hit on him.

The way I always beat him is to use a good spear (once again the phoenix spear is my recommendation) and when he flips through the air toward you evade roll in any direction out of the way, then immeditely use the spear special attack lunge back to where you were standing and where the boss will have landed. If you tag him with the spear lunge you will injure him SEVERELY and you may be able to follow up with another regular spear jab.

You can't generally close distance on him when he is hanging back. If you start to come toward him he will jump over your as you approach leaving you far away from him once again OR he will just do a super fast charge straight through that will knock you around. Best to wait at range and lure him to hit you while standing near a wall then retaliate quickly when he launches his attack which you hopefully evaded. By your 3rd playthrough this boss will die in 2-3 hits pretty much, it's just tagging him that is difficult. Slow/short range weapons=fail.

This boss made me really sad on the second playthrough. Like, holy shit it's just completely soul crushing when you learn all the facts behind it. Probably the closest I've ever got to crying about something in a video game.

This battle occurs as part of a Facade story mission in the second part of the game. Skip all cutscenes, don't worry if you miss this trophy in your first playthrough, it will be much easier to obtain in New Game+

Before you can attack Roc, you will have to fight a large pack of wolves, use dark hand to take them out efficiently. Roc follows a similar pattern, first he jumps off the rocks towards you, then he'll run around for a short while before jumping back on the rocks again. Evade the jump by jumping away yourself, shoot your dark lance while he is running around and pummel him with dark hand if he gets close. Repeat the process a few times and he will be defeated, if you managed it within the time limit, the trophy will unlock.
