How to unlock the Soul Crusher achievement in NieR - Definitive Guide
This is obtained in the second fight vs Devola and Popola. I got it on my first playthrough without even really trying for it, so it's not a difficult one. I found the spear special attack charge "Y" combined with evade-rolling into attack swings in chains to cut thru waves of energy balls and close in to be a fairly solid method. Do not stand next to devola and wind up an attack after closing on her as she will use Dark Hand and smack the crud out of you if you aren't moving and near her. If you feel like it you can charge up a volley of dark lances and fire them straight through the volley of enegy balls as well for solid damage.
**Update (20 Oct 11) from user soliunasm -"Just a note, you HAVE to skip the next three or so cutscenes. If you don't it won't give it to you, and they last about 7ish minutes in total."
Personally I wouldn't do this on your first time through, as these scenes are really important to the story and quite touching, but it is an important thing to clarify. Thanks to all the people who continue to contribute to all my Nier solutions. :)

I find it a little amusing you claim to have got it in your first play through and then in your update you say you wouldn't personally skip the cut scenes even though that stops you from getting the achievement. :P One or the other, you can't get both ;)
Anyway, I'll note that when I come up to this again when I go back into the castle. Seems skipping cut scenes is the only way to get some of the time based achievements. Still, I don't want to miss the Kainé (play through B) scenes either.

This battle occurs shortly after escaping from Goose. As usual, skip all cutscenes. You will only be fighting against one this time, while the other will summon magic to protect the main attacker.
Use your favourite weapon or Dark Hand to inflict damage. Just like your previous battle with them, after being hit they will teleport away. Swing your sword and attempt to get an extra 1-2 hits beforehand. Repeat this strategy until she is defeated and a cutscene will play. After the cutscene, you will be fighting the other. She will have minimal health, but will unleash a continual barrage of magic. A couple of hits with your magic or sword will end the battle and unlock the trophy.
