How to unlock the Paraloop Master achievement in NiGHTS into dreams... - Definitive Guide

I originally thought this achievement was stupidly hard, considering I'm new to this game, but after some practice I came up with a method that worked for me.

I found that if you wait about 2.5 seconds at the beginning, then following his tail about half way down and then paralooping clockwise back on yourself, I was getting 17/19 link pretty often; eventually I hit the needed 21 link.

I've uploaded a video of said method in action, too.

This might not work for everyone, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Good luck!

Took me a few tries to get the timing down, but I nailed it with this vid, thanks.

I like how the achievement description says "TRY to Paraloop" the tail. Well, I certainly TRIED laugh

Thanks bud, it's just a matter of timing plus the awkward camera angle doesn't help judging where his tail is.

This solution worked like a charm for me too, it took me only 2 attempts! Thank you, sir, flawless guide :)

I'm going to give you credit for this, but I just got it in a completely random way, by using your solution. I kept trying to paraloop him, but I was never getting anything. I started getting frustrated, so I just started doing a bunch of loops, and one of them actually hit him for the 21 link!

I'm pretty clueless at this game and had many rage inducing attempts where either nothing happened or I took damage, but the 1st time I actually connected I got the achievement! Not sure what exactly I did different but it worked! Hopefully it wasn't complete fluke and I can finally get the A rank now.

For those unfamiliar with NiGHTS terminology, a paraloop is when NiGHTS catches the shining trail you leave behind as you move. This is most easily achieved by moving in a tight circle. Gillwing is the boss for the Spring Valley level (the first in Claris' story). As the description states, you need to paraloop Gillwing's tail. This is easier said than done. I'm including the video that I found on Youtube which gave me some sense of what I needed to do, but it moves so quick that I'm going to give some much needed explanation. Gillwing flies around the area, slowly alternating from up to down halfway around. You want to position yourself where Gillwing will be traveling up, anticipating where the END of his tail will be. Your paraloop needs to catch his tail toward the back section. You will know you are successful when you get 21 Link. Through trial and error you can establish the exact position you need to paraloop based on how close the number is to 21. As a side note, I highly recommend beating the level first before you attempt this. When on the level select screen, you can press X over any level you've beaten to play that level's boss. Accessing the boss this way allows you to restart the boss quickly and efficiently, should you mess up. Good luck!

Credit to MilesSMB. Without your video, I had no idea this was possible.

The video is the key, try to catch him just as he's rising and you'll nail it.

i'm glad i didn't miss out. to this day its still one of my favorites. plus, the hd polish it has now gives it some new legs. i think the achievement description is misleading. when i first saw it, i thought you had to paraloop gilwing completely, which is obviously quite impossible.

Just to let everyone know this can also be done in the Christmas Bonus Stage. I had this achievement and the Christmas one left, so I decided to attempt it and got lucky and popped both.

All I did was watch the video, scratch my head in confusion, and then say "is this right?" when I did the paraloop then BAM he dies achievement unlocked and I'm just sooo confused on what the heck I did.

This game is awesome. So upset I missed out on it back in the Saturn Days (I never owned the Saturn)
