Onimusha: Warlords

There are 32 files in the game. Some of these are given by story progression, others must be collected and are missable. Certain sections of the game become unavailable after using the Evil Plate, so collect these before entering the final areas.

Yuki’s Letter – Obtain before even getting control of Samanosuke for the first time. This is given to you by default.

Instructions – Given to you automatically when you obtain the Gauntlet for the first time.

Sougen’s Note – Once you have entered the cave leading to the Underground Temple you will climb a set of stairs that leads to a dead end with a shrine. Interact with the shrine and it will inform you there is a green scroll there and asks you if you want to take it. Select yes to take this scroll and proceed in the level.

Journal #1 – In the Underground Temple follow the corridors until you get to the shrine with the blue gem (Shiden) in it. Along the walls you will see vases. In the third vase on your left there will be a treasure chest with this journal inside. Destroy the vase and open the chest to collect this file.

Journal #2 – In the room right after taking down Osric there will be a treasure chest on the floor. This journal is in the chest.

Journal #3 – After the Cutscene with Tokichiro Kinoshita there will be a treasure chest on the floor. Go through the door next to that chest and go through the corridors until you get to the weapons and armor room. In the corner of this room is a chest on the floor with this Journal in it.

Journal #4 – After disarming all the traps in the abandoned keep and dropping down the staircase where you and Kaede split up again head up the stairs and down the hall where there is a ladder heading down. Proceed down the ladder until it states you can go down farther. Select the same ladder and choose “Go Down”. It will lead to a small room with a treasure chest on the floor. on the left side of the room while looking at this chest there is a scroll draped down the wall. Slash the scroll to reveal a hidden compartment housing another scroll. Pick up that scroll to obtain this file.

Journal #5 – After using the Shinobi Kit to open the door near the Magic Mirror in the West Area you will enter the corridor ahead. Continue down the corridor and at the end of the corridor head through the door to the left (The wooden door). Once inside head to the back of the room and you will see a treasure chest on the floor. Inside the chest is this journal.

Journal #6 – After using the Decorated Sword to enter the East Area head along the path and over the bridge to the door that is locked behind a 2 lock green plasma. Open the door and head down the first hallway on the left. At the end of this hallway is a scroll on the wall. Interact with that scroll to obtain this journal.

Blue Book – Upon entering the abandoned keep there will be a doorway to your left. This doorway leads to a corridor with another door locked behind a blue plasma with two locks on it. In order to get through this door you will need to have Shiden equipped and enhanced it to at least level 2. Once through the door you will get ambushed by ninja genma. Defeat them and head through the door to the north. Inside the next room will be three jewels on a pedestal and a blue book laying on some boxes in the corner, interact with that blue book to get this file.

Red Book – After the cutscene with Yumamaru and Kaede in the abandoned keep head through the door at the end of the corridor and head through to the room with the stairs ahead. Ascend the stairs into the top landing and proceed through the door locked behind red plasma with two locks on it. To get through this door you must have Kouen equipped and have it enhanced to at least level 2. Once inside there will be a red book just sitting on the table. Collect the book to obtain this file.

Green Book – Once you enter the keep underground follow the path forward until you get into the room with the Magic Mirror. Proceed through the tentacles blocking your way by destroying them and you will get to an opening with a Reynaldo (tentacle genma). Defeat the genma and look on the bookshelves and you will see an Orange book, a Green book and a White book. Collect the green book to obtain this file.

Orange Book – Once you enter the keep underground follow the path forward until you get into the room with the Magic Mirror. Proceed through the tentacles blocking your way by destroying them and you will get to an opening with a Reynaldo (tentacle genma). Defeat the genma and look on the bookshelves and you will see an Orange book, a Green book and a White book. Collect the orange book to obtain this file.

White Book – In keep underground once you head through the door you used the Purifier Bell to open head through the door straight ahead and you will see a door locked by green plasma with two locks. Instead of heading through that door follow the hallway on the right and through the door to a corridor filled with tentacles blocking your way. Slice through the tentacles and go to the end of the corridor and you will see a white book on the floor. Collect the white book to collect this file.

Apocalypse #1 – In “Keep Underground” once you head through the door you used the Purifier Bell to open head through the door straight ahead and you will see a door locked by green plasma with two locks. Head through the door and head to the green glow at the other end of the room and look to Samanosuke’s left and you will see a green book on the floor. Collect this book to collect this file.

Apocalypse #2 – Once you get control of Kaede again head across the bridge and use your Shinobi kit to open the door leading ahead, and follow the path to the room on the right. Inside the room head to the back where there are vases you can break. Break through to get to the back of the cubby in the back of the room where there is a shelf with a purple book. Grab that book for this file.

Seiryu Vol 1 – Once you have entered the Underground Temple and past the shrine head right to your right as you enter the hallway inside the temple. It will lead to a dead end with a nook in the wall. Open up the doors and you will find this book to claim.

Seiryu Vol 2 – After using the L. Crest Piece with the R. Crest Piece to open the door by the ladder in the abandoned keep and seeing the cutscene featuring Tokichiro Kinoshita again you will control Samanosuke in a room with one of the walls blown out. Continue forward to the right and as soon as the camera changes you will see a blue book on a stool to the right. Collect it to obtain this file.

Seiryu Vol 3 – After using the L. Crest Piece with the R. Crest Piece to open the door by the ladder in the abandoned keep and seeing the cutscene featuring Tokichiro Kinoshita again you will control Samanosuke in a room with one of the walls blown out. Continue forward to the right and through to the next room. You will get ambushed through a wall by a Genma revealing a path forward up a set of stairs. Head upstairs and outside and continue around the top landing until you get to a door that isn’t locked behind green plasma. Head straight ahead to see a blue book laying on the floor. Collect that blue for this file.

Seiryu Vol 4 – After using the L. Crest Piece with the R. Crest Piece to open the door by the ladder in the abandoned keep and seeing the cutscene featuring Tokichiro Kinoshita again you will control Samanosuke in a room with one of the walls blown out. Continue forward to the right and through to the next room. You will get ambushed through a wall by a Genma revealing a path forward up a set of stairs. Head upstairs and outside and continue around the top landing until you get to a door that isn’t locked behind green plasma. Head through it and look to the right side of the room. There will be a blue book on a shelf. Collect it to obtain this file.

Suzaku Vol 1 – After using the L. Crest Piece with the R. Crest Piece to open the door by the ladder in the abandoned keep and seeing the cutscene featuring Tokichiro Kinoshita again you will control Samanosuke in a room with one of the walls blown out. Continue forward to the right and through into the next room. As soon as you spawn into the next room look just to the left of Samanosuke to see a red book on the floor. Collect it to retrieve this file.

Suzaku Vol 2 – After the cutscene with Yumamaru and Kaede in the abandoned keep head through the door at the end of the corridor and head through to the room with the stairs ahead. Head through the door under the stairway and head to the southernmost wall where on the bookshelf is a red book. Grab the red book to claim this file.

Suzaku Vol 3 – After getting to the second magic mirror as Kaede in the East Area continue into the next room. follow that hallway and instead of going in the door straight ahead of you instead use the door on the opposite side of that wall in the nook. Once inside the room you will see this red book on the shelf right to Kaede’s left.

Suzaku Vol 4 – After using the Shinobi Kit to open the door near the Magic Mirror in the West Area you will enter the corridor ahead. Continue down the corridor and at the end of the corridor head through the door to the left (The wooden door). Once inside head to the back of the room and you will see a red book high on a shelf. Interact with the shelf at the book and you will receive this file.

Byakko Vol 1 – After using the Shinobi Kit to open the door near the Magic Mirror in the West Area you will enter the corridor ahead. Continue down the corridor and at the end of the corridor head through the door to the left (The wooden door). Once inside head to the back of the room and interact with the wooden cabinet with two drawers. The drawers will open revealing gears. You will need to install the gear found on the floor just past the Bamboo Forest and pull the string. Follow the room around until you see a treasure chest. On the stand to the right of the chest is a white book. Interact with it for this file.

Byakko Vol 2 – Continue through the abandoned keep until you get to the balcony above the first area you were in when you entered the keep. The first time you come here there will be soldiers fighting genma down below. Head through the blocked door ahead with your Kouen and proceed into the next room. Defeat the enemies in this room and pass into the following room. This room has a big box you can destroy to reveal a chest with some arrows in it. Continue forward up the stairs and on the top landing look to the right side of the screen and you will see a treasure chest on the floor and a white book on the shelf. This file is obtained when you interact with the white book.

Byakko Vol 3 – Once you enter the keep underground follow the path forward until you get into the room with the Magic Mirror. Proceed through the tentacles blocking your way by destroying them and you will get to an opening with a Reynaldo (tentacle genma). Defeat the genma and look on the bookshelves and you will see an Orange book, a Green book and a White book. Collect the white book to obtain this file.

Byakko Vol 4 – In keep underground once you head through the door you used the Purifier Bell to open head through the door straight ahead and you will see a door locked by green plasma with two locks. Head through the door and head to the green glow at the other end of the room and look to Samanosuke’s left and you will see a white book on a bench next to a deceased soldier. Collect the white book to receive this file.

Genbu Vol 1 – Once you get a hold of Samanosuke again Head into the West Area through the Red Door you unlocked with Kaede. Proceed until you get to the house with the blue plasma on the door with three locks on it. You will need Shiden equipped and leveled up to level three. Head inside this house and look to Samanosuke’s right and you will see a green book on a shelf. Collect it to collect this file.

Genbu Vol 2 – In West Area as Kaede once you use the Silver and Gold plates to open the door leading into the burning building follow the corridor to the back of that floor and you will come to a room with a bunch of vases. Destroy the vases and on a shelf next to the treasure chest is a green book. Collect it to receive this file.

Genbu Vol 3 – After using the Decorated Sword to enter the East Area head along the path and over the bridge to the door that is locked behind a 2 lock green plasma. Open the door and head down the first hallway on the left. At the end of this hallway is a scroll on the wall. Collect the scroll and head through the door. Continue straight along that path until you get to another door on the far end. Go through that door and into the small room. on a shelf on the eastern wall will be a green book. Collect it to obtain this file.

Genbu Vol 4 – Once you get to the second magic mirror as Kaede in the East Area there is a ladder you can climb in that same room. Climbing that ladder will bring you to an attic with wooden boxes. Destroy the boxes and the Fluorite will be on the floor just to the left of the open window. Once you get to the second magic mirror as Kaede in the East Area there is a ladder you can climb in that same room. Climbing that ladder will bring you to an attic with wooden boxes. Destroy the boxes and this green book will be on the floor just to the right of the open window.
