Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

This achievement is story related and can not be missed (there is a warning about this achievement, please see note on the bottom). You will get this achievement during the eleventh and last mission, Dragon Fury.

Dragon Fury is the hardest mission, in my opinion, in the game. You are going to unlock this achievement at the very end of the mission. Here is a brief overview of the mission:

1. Primary Objective: Eliminate the MBT (Main Battle Tank).
This is a easy part of the mission. Head south to south east to the forest/tree area so the Chinese tank will be to your right (south west). Use the Javelin to take out the MBT. If you do not do this fast enough both the Abrams will be destroyed and you will lose the mission.

2. Optional Objective: Destroy the defensive position.
Continue south to the optional objective, this one is easy and you need the weapon cache. Use the night scope (type 95 marksman) and take out the people guarding the defensive point from a distance. This will net you weapon cache #1 with a Queen Bee and a single HEAT warhead. I suggest grabbing the Queen Bee.

3. Primary Objective: Eliminate SAM tanks.
Just a short run through the forest to the south east (while taking out some enemies) and you will need to take out two SAM tanks. You do have some time however don't by any means take your time! If you do you will lose both of your Abrams and you will lose the mission. Use your Queen Bee ammo and then you can pick up two more Queen Bee's inside the town that you are killing the SAM tanks in (the weapons are next to the north most building). Use those SAM tanks to take out the rest of the SAM tanks.

4. Achievement Objective: Fly the chopper.
If you pilot or a co-op partner pilots the chopper from Landing Zone to Landing Zone (head towards the purple smoke) you will unlock this achievement:


5. Primary Objective: Take control of the naval base.
Head east to get to the naval base (I head slightly north as well to hit the northern part of the navel base). Your going to run into snipers so take them out and take their night scopes (type 95 marksman) for more ammo. This part of the mission will take around 15 to 25 minutes to finish. Just keep at it. Just keep on killing and killing and killing and sooner or later they will stop coming out. I worked my way, sniping all the way, from the northern part of the base all the way to the southern part of the base. The southern part of the base is by far the easiest to snipe from. Once the enemies are not coming out anymore enter the base from the south entrance to take out the others that come out and the achievement is yours!

(NOTE: There is one known way to miss this achievement, if you are playing co-op and you DIE and the other teammates continue to play and get to the point the achievement unlocks all dead players will NOT get the achievement)

Or after you hit the first AA in the valley let the tanks take out the other one. Then jump in the first tank call your team to get in, and clear the village then go slowly up the right side and take out the AAA. Drive down road to Navel Base, there is another AA S/SW of the base, take it out, then light it up. The tank there won't even come out, it's parked behind a wall. Just clear the base. mission over.

This is for clearing out the Naval Base at the end of mission 11 - Dragon Fury. This is the final mission of the level and of the game.

Note that there is a part in this level when you have to either pilot or co-pilot a helicopter to a purple smoke designation. If you pilot/co-pilot this then you'll also unlock:



The game wants you to exit the helicopter and then proceed on foot to the Naval Base. Don't do that. Instead stay in the helicopter and order it to fly to the road leading up to the Naval Base and land there. If you're lucky (like I was), you'll bypass all the on-foot combat along the road leading to the base, saving you a good chunk of time.

After this I proceeded on foot to the base and took it pretty easily (anecdotally I feel like there were fewer enemies than the time I progressed on foot to the base), giving me this achievement.

The first time I tried taking the helicopter there I tried landing in the Naval Base and died instantly. The 2nd time, I was shot down on my way to the base. The recording above was my 3rd attempt.
