How to unlock the Lifer achievement in Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Definitive Guide

There are 6 core skills;
- Sprint
- Endurance
- Battle Readiness
- Assault Rifle Handling
- Assault Rifle Training
- Tactical Awareness

Each skill can be upgraded up to rank 10 and you start out with one rank. To allocate core skill points, choose the "Player Progress" main menu option. To gain skill points you will need to complete missions or Fireteam Engagements. Depending on how well you do you will gain medals. Depending on the medal colour you will gain up to three points which are cumulative per mission and do not stack. The following table gives the requirements to get a gold medal on campaign missions.

External image

You will always get bronze if you succeed the mission, silver if you also complete all secondary objectives which must be accomplished before tackling the main objective they are posted under. To see the objective hierarchy, press start during the missions. Completing the main objective will result in all uncompleted secondary objectives to fail. In some rare cases, secondary objectives are times and rely on scripted events. In those cases it is usually sufficient to pay close attention to orders and not rush ahead.

To get a gold medal and the maximum of points you will need to complete all secondary objectives and complete the mission in a certain time frame. Here are the time frames in minutes. Times were compiled based on personal experience and those of a few friends.

For Fireteam Engagements the requirements are slightly different. There is a score threshold you need to reach in addition to completing the mission.

Combat Sweep
Remember that you get a score multiplier depending on how fast you are. You will see the multiplier on your lower left hand HUD if you have the HUD enabled.

CSAR

Last Stand
Remember that you have to evacuate once you have reached the target score for it to count. If you fail the mission all score is lost.

Once you have gotten gold on every campaign mission and Fireteam Engagement, allocate all points and confirm to unlock the achievement.

+1!!! I would have given you +10 if I could. This is the way guides should been written: good presentation, good layout and excellent punctuation. I also noticed you have been listening to my comments during the games we had :-)

Perfecto - just want to echo what Replicant said - perfect solution - clarifies everything - I can't vote at all because I placed my own solution - even though I have now deleted it - TA rules i guess [sigh]

I think the points for CSAR (at least) have changed now, I got 10,000 for the Helo, and more than 30,000 for the Pilots... Just letting you know...

I was also playing Solo, if it makes a difference...
Great Guide though, helped me clear the Campaign a while back!

Scoring for DLC maps could be different. The tables are straight from the manual so I doubt they are wrong. You get 30k per pilot so if you rescue both you should get 60k. I haven't found official numbers on the DLC but I don't see a reason for the scoring table to be different.

This is a great guide. Thanks for publishing it. One question, do you have to gold every mission to get enough points? Can I play the mission again and get more points or is it 3 for gold and that's it?

You can play a mission again but getting a gold medal won't give you additional points if you already had one. If you didn't then it will give you the difference in points to your last medal (3 -1 = 2 if you previously had Bronze and 1 if you had Silver). So yes, you will need to get Gold on all maps!

I think so but cannot verify my intuition. A friend I used to play with, https://www.trueachievements.com/Darken81.htm, thinks so too. As you will have to get Gold medals in the DLC as well it should not matter anyway but that is not what you asked of course and I am sorry I cannot give you a definitive answer.

@vBURSToACTIVZv: No the missions from the DLC won't give u any points towards your 'core soldier skill'!! I've tried it today.

Good guide, but how come you said that the times are from personal experience? Is there not a set time that it tells you to do it in? Just wondering.

No. The game will not tell you what the "par times" are. I noted the times of my completions (and those of friends) that got the medal and rounded a bit to what I thought would be most correct. If you get a medal with a worse time, feel free to report it and I'll gladly correct the times. wink

Your math is incorrect deevius , there are only 8 FTE missions totaling 24 points . You need to do every fte and every campaign gold from the base game

As stated in the solution and in the comments, another shout out to XboxFreak36 for his input, only missions from the core game will reward you with points you can spend on skills.

My math is not incorrect, I just factored in the DLC FTE missions, which apparently do not count, but I didn't know that, I was maxed well before I needed them.

Sorry but it is incorrect , even factoring in all of the dlc FTE missions there are only 16 of them. Then you suggested 5 gold + 3 silver + 3 bronze + 13 additional missions that need not be played = 24. The numbers are wrong

It's been too long for me to argue, I was assuming you meant that 15+6+3 didn't equal the 24 points you needed. But they don't count anyway so it really doesn't matter.

@EmG v SprayZz You may of already gotten your answer but it's 80,000 pts for both base game last stand maps. Meaning you can exfil with 53,340 pts with a full squad to recieve a 1.5x and get the gold.

There are 10 Campaign missions so that's a possible 30 medals if you get all gold - Then there are 16 FTE missions that's a possible 48 medals if you get gold on all them. You only need 54 points to max out all Player Progress so if you got Gold in all campaign missions you only need 24 from FTE, that could be 5 Golds so 15 points then you could get 3 silvers adding a further 6 and 3 bronze would be enough to top all skills, and you needn't even play 13 of the FTE missions at all.

As mentioned above you need to gold every mission (campaign and FTEs).

Bronze = Finish the mission.
Silver = Finish the mission with all objectives complete.
Gold = Finish the mission with all objectives complete and in the time limit.

The time limits for each mission are:
Mission 1 = 27 minutes
Mission 2 = 40 minutes
Mission 3 = 45 minutes
Mission 4 = 51 minutes
Mission 5 = 60 minutes
Mission 6 = 55 minutes
Mission 7 = 60 minutes
Mission 8 = 60 minutes
Mission 9 = 60 minutes
Mission 10 = 75 minutes

For Mission 5 I just want to add that you need to have atleast a 2:30 time interval to that 60 minutes because the cutscene at the end counts toward that time. We failed the target time because of that.

Every class has 6 skills. Every skill starts at level 1 and the max level is 10. Points needed in order to rise these skills are gained from completing the missions and FTE maps by getting gold/silver/bronze (gold = 3 points/silver = 2 points/bronze = 1 point). You need 54 points in total to rise all 6 skills (this means you need to get gold in all missions and all FTE maps). Its not so hard, but can take a while.

To max out all 6 basic skills, you need to earn 54 medals.

Medals for missions from the add-on do not add points for leveling up. Therefore, be sure to complete all main missions for gold.
