Even with the lowest possible health (thanks to the ring of mercy), most favorable world settings, and the best sphere I only had a 20% chance to catch Paladius. It took a few Ultimate Spheres to catch, so bring extras! Make sure you aim for the face between the helmet for critical hits when shooting it. Also, if you have used lifmunk effigies at your base to increase capture power, this should make it easier as well. I was only at level 4 for capture power so max level will increase your odds greatly.

The achievements seem to not work still for some people. Apparently the developers are aware and working on a fix. Starting a brand new world or joining someone elses sometimes seems to work, but it's not a guarantee.

At max capture rank (from effigy's) the capture % goes up to 36% with Ultimate Spheres.
It's at 14% for Legendary Spheres so I just used those instead as they are MUCH easier to make than Ultimates.
Unfortunately, this achievement and the Necromus one (as well as the 40 notes cheevo) have all failed to unlock for me...
