How to unlock the Scientific Rigor achievement in Phoenix Point - Definitive Guide
This achievement now activates...
There are 135 Phoenix Point research projects, 71 of which are reverse engineering of every weapon, armor and accessory in the game.
I had a save from many months ago after completing all 71 reverse engineering projects, but I still had 6 of the base projects to go (4 'advanced' engineering projects that all had faction research as a prerequisite, and the Pandora Key / Virophage Injector projects (both end-game). At that time every time I researched one of the faction advanced weapon prerequisites it deleted the corresponding reverse engineering project from the list (example - if I researched Anu Acid Technology to open Advanced Acid Technology, it would delete the Reverse Engineered acid pistol and grenade from the completed list). So, when I finished the game, knowing that I had completed all Phoenix research projects, the achievement didn't pop as my completed reverse engineering list had dropped from 71 into the 40's.
Anyway, after finishing the legendary campaign I decided to reload that old save one last time to see if this had been fixed - and lo-and-behold each time I completed one of the faction prerequisites the reverse engineering project remained as completed on the list (I checked after each project to be sure) and after completing the Virophage Injector the achievement popped with all 135 projects showing in the completed research list. Note that I didn't engage in any missions or base defenses just in case the issue was related to the autosave.
I can list all projects if anyone is interested.
As a final note, I still can't get the 'All the live ones' achievement to pop even though I have captured every enemy and enemy variant - even in a single campaign.
The following lists all Phoenix Projects in the order they are listed on my 'Completed Research' (as requested). Note that the following 6 projects should be left until completion of all other projects (and after a hard save) with the Virophage Injector being left until last.

This was also my experience - I couldn't add a guide because I'd previously added and deleted it as it became obsolete.
I can shed light on "All the Live Ones" though. It used to work until a game update broke it around Nov 2020. I debugged the source code (sent from a Steam user) and the XML asset files, which many of the achievements reference, yes it's that simple.
A cursory scan of the achievement XML file showed that the capture all pandoran types had a duplicate class reference. The fireworm entry had the same class ID as the acid worm (or vice versa). So when you capture a fireworm it basically treats it like capturing another acid worm. So the unique type counter can never get above 8 out of 9, as it never registers the acid worm as a unique cap.
It looked like a simple copy and paste error.
I've informed the devs of this on their discord and various forums, without response. Not the most courteous set of developers or community I must say.
They have said previously that they intend to address this issue, but so far havn't. I went so far as to send them a root cause analysis document and the offending source code + asset file without a reply.
I guess it's political.

Does it have to be on the same playthrough? This list is not as helpful as a list of things you CANNOT research.
