How to unlock the Scylla Thriller achievement in Phoenix Point - Definitive Guide

You need to capture a Scylla first and then examine it.

Scyllas can be found in two separate missions. On the one hand, they often attack other havens. On the other, they're always found in Pandora's citadels. To catch the Scylla, it is recommended not to attack the citadel, but to defend the haven. Sometimes the Scyllas attack the havens alone. Also, not infinitely new enemies appear on the battlefield.

There are different types of Scyllas. There are Scyllas which produce small mindfraggers and can stomp you with their front legs. Very unfavorable. Better are the blue-purple Scyllas. They are equipped with plasma cannons and do not produce mindfraggers. As soon as they are sufficiently stunned, they do not fire their cannons anymore and can only run away.

You should preferably be allied with the Synedrion faction. They grant you access to the weapon Athena NS-2, which causes paralyze damage and can be shot from a distance. By chance you can also pick up this weapon in a battle and reconstruct it by reverse engineering.

To survive the battle, you'll need a strong team. If you're using the Athena NS-2, they must be snipers, of course. Four snipers are sufficient. Also three assault troops and one technician to assist. You should combine at least two snipers with the heavy class. There you activate the ability Rage Burst. For this the soldier must have level 7. This ability speeds up the stunning of the Scylla considerably. Instead of firing just one shot, the soldier fires five shots in a narrow cone. Therefore, you must be as close to the Scylla as possible.

Once you've assembled your team, you're good to go. Stun the Scylla. Once you've captured it, all you have to do is examine it.

I did it and it's really easy if you use a virus sniper rifle with a Priest Sniper multiclass.
Quick Aiming one shot will let you fire both the virus weapon and the sniper giving it 25 virus before it gets to attack.
And remember panic wastes 2 turns, 1 for running away panicked and one for recover.
This gave me tonnes of time to use my tentacle Assault (2 actions for 24 stun) and my other 2 Assaults would Onslaught him so that I could get between 72 and 96 stun each turn.
I also took the time with my Heavy to break one of it's legs so it couldn't jump away.
My 2 Snipers mostly spent their turns taking out the adds.
It had enough will and turns to lay 1 Mindfragger and Stomp one of my guys before it was fully paralyzed.

Capturing the Scylla in the citadel is a lot easier since it’s a guaranteed spawn thus easier to plan for. If you go in carefully you won’t aggro the entire citadel at once and it’s a lot more manageable to go for the capture. Also unlike in regular missions, in the citadel it won’t flee the map if you do too much damage to it.

And although the mission objective for a citadel says to kill the Scylla, capturing it counts too for a successful mission. If all of your soldiers carry some sort of paralysis weapon and all focus the Scylla, that should be enough to capture it before it causes too much trouble.

Capturing Skilla, especially at the legend level, is not an easy thing. you need to get 390 paralysis.
It is best to do this on missions without reinforcements (for example, defending a shelter)
at the same time we need to shoot all the pandorans that will run towards us

To capture you need 2 Scream Pulls. When Skilla is nearby, we shout at her every turn. And one by one we restore the will of the heavy weights.
You also need a Priest with a Virus Rifle so that she is constantly in a panic
Next, anti-fog modules will greatly simplify the task (since fog makes your fighters lose their will)
When she is more than a quarter paralyzed, it is safe to stand point blank, since under the scream and 1/4+ paralysis she will not have enough AP to do anything. Before this, I recommend running away from her a little, otherwise she may one-shot your fighter.
It’s also better to take 4+ paralyzers; for snipers, if you have them, then neural snipers or pistols. A sniper with fast aiming can shoot from it endlessly (until the will runs out).

The skill is also heavily armored and the first thing it makes sense to stretch it with grenades, missiles, spider drones, etc.
It’s better not to damage Skilla (destroy parts), otherwise she may die before you paralyze her.
