Since the game runs on the PSP emulator, you can always press Options and rewind the game to a convenient time. From now on, losing a ball is not a big deal, you just rewind the timeline two spaces to the left (or more if necessary) and immediately continue playing, correcting the mistake.
And if the ball flies between your “sticks”, rewind again and use the table shake ( + or + )
