You need a hug gesture from three (3) different people in online co-op. You earn the hug gesture after Course 03; Hard-Light Surfaces.

You can hug in any area during the course including the main Central Hub and it will count towards your three hugs. Once you finish the hug you can quit the session; no need to jump into a course or complete any tests.

You can hug someone who hasn't completed Course 03 and both players will count for the achievement. Hugs are shared so you don't need to perform two hugs to count, one will record for both players.

You must be friends with your partner prior to the game for the hug to count. Friending them in-game and then hugging them doesn't count. You can friend them in-game, leave and then start a new session with the player who is now your friend and it will count.

Split-screen doesn't count, even if you do split screen on the same console and each person is on a separate Xbox Live gold account. You will need to be online using separate consoles.

Unlocking this achievement also unlocks an avatar award; a gray "Love Shirt" with an image of both robots (Atlas and Peabody) hugging. The image is similar to the "Friends List With Benefits" achievement icon image, but in color.

This is a simple achievement to get. It requires one person to have completed the co-op missions far enough to get the Hug gesture.

That person can then play with two other friends on his or her (assuming the first person he played with was on his/her friends list) and you retain your gestures that you have already earned so you will not have to replay up to that point. This also counts as a hug for the friend even though they will not have the hug gesture.

Pro Tip- If you are going for the Professor Portal achievement complete the entire co-op first, then play the tutorial through with someone who has never played the co-op and hug after you meet up in the Central Hub.

This is a very simple way to do this.

First- You need to have the hug Gesture unlocked.

Second- if you don't have friends who have the game you could search for a co-op lobby and add the player as a friend. Do this 3 times.

Third- hug all 3 of your friends and boom Achievement and Avatar Reward unlocked.

P.S. when you add your friend you must re-host the match because it won't count towards you achievement count.

Super easy to do if you have a 360 and an Xbox One and a digital version of the game. You can create unlimited gold profiles on your Xbox One. Just create 3 new profiles, log into your 360 with your main, then cycle thru co op games with the three accounts from the Xbox one until the achievement pops.

This also works with Professor Portal.
