Best to do this is in Free Fishing. Tournament will be pretty tough since you are timed.
You can jump in and do this right away, but you will eventually get it while workings towards 1000.
In a few of the free fishing challenges for the harder lakes, the challenge requires you to catch 30 fish, or 300lbs of fish. This achievement can be won while going for challenges on the lakes.
30 fish need to be accumulated in one session. meaning you cannot quit out or back out to the main menu.
Also as you progress through the game and do easier challenges on the first few lakes, you will unlock more lures giving you a better chance of catching more fish faster.
