You can buy weapon mods when you arrive on planet Kalidon. Weapon mods are pretty much weapon upgrades. Moving down the path from your ship you'll see sort of a big trash bucket. Talking to it allows you to buy a mod for the Lacerator for 5k bolts and a mod for the Concussion gun for 15k bolts.
