Earn credits by completing missions, selling and trading supplies and derelict cargo. Once you've saved enough credits, you can buy a new ship from any station with a ship vendor. It's 100k credits for the next ship in line from the starter ship. Once you buy your first ship, the achievement should pop. Easy!
