Pirate lords are randomly generated named star fighters, frigates and capital ships, bolstering powerful weapons and armor and often fly with an entourage of fighters or frigates to back them up.

Prepare for a LOT of scouting work, depending on your luck you'll find them quickly or you'll find them slowly. First, this is a lot of perseverance and a little luck. When you visit a star system, make sure to stop by every space station at least once to gather data. You're looking at a space station's status, if a pirate lord is in the area, it will say STATUS: PIRATE LORD SIGHTED. You can also look at past visits in other systems through the radial menu, press while in space flight, go to your local map and then press to open the sector map. Hover your cursor over the various star systems and press , to cycle through the stations of each system.

When you've found one. Simply visit that space station within the system and double check that the pirate lord is still there by looking at the space station status again, if the pirate lord is still there, go to the bar and buy bounty information from the bar tender. Follow the bounties until you finally spot a pirate lord and prepare for fights that are reasonably tough.

Take your best ship and it's best kit. It's a good idea to have a combat buddy like Richter, Ruth or Satchel with you, they can help mitigate larger groups of ships. Good luck!
