How to unlock the This Is My World Now achievement in Red Faction - Definitive Guide

Note: You need to complete the game on all four difficulties, as the difficulty-related trophies do not stack.

This is the trophy that will decide the fate of your platinum. It can be very difficult and frustrating at parts but with the right strategies it is very doable. Medkits/envirosuits restore 17 health/armour, respectively.

Below is a list of tips and suggestions to make your Impossible playthrough easier and these tips can apply to all your playthroughs:

  • Save, Save, Save - I cannot stress this enough. Given saving is manual, you will want to save as regularly as you can, utilising all the save slots. Kill an enemy without damage? Save. Get through an encounter using barely any supplies? Save. Saving regularly allows you to test sections to learn an effective way through, then load an earlier save to execute your method. I would often reload saves if I knew I took too much damage from an enemy I could've killed without damage or if I got surprised by an enemy. Do note however that when you reload a save, enemies will reset their routes and spawns. This means that you can actually use this to your benefit in some sections but it can also go against you if enemies reset near or behind you so be aware of this.
  • Learn the enemy spawns - Given you will likely have done three playthroughs prior to doing Impossible, you should be very familiar with a lot of the enemy spawns. Use this to your advantage to attack enemies before they're aware of your presence.
  • Pop and Lock - This was my basic method for dealing with most enemy encounters. I would pop out of cover and let the game's auto-aim system lock onto the nearest enemy, then immediately spray them before hiding again. If you're dealing with individual enemies you can win most fights without getting hurt by attacking them before they attack you. This is why knowing the enemy spawns is so important.
  • Utilise all your weapons - While you may not have used some weapons much in previous playthroughs, all of them can benefit you during Impossible. The riot shield can be great for skipping certain encounters, while the grenades and remote charges are amazing for sections where you have to climb out of water straight into an enemy encounter (as you can throw these from underwater and kill the enemies without getting hurt). Always think about your entire arsenal, as every encounter will have a good weapon to use for it.
  • The Precision Rifle and Rail Driver are your friends - This may sound a bit contradictory after the above tip but these two weapons are absolutely vital in the late game. The Rail Driver is excellent at taking out enemies through walls, completely nullifying any risk of death. The Precision Rifle can auto-lock on from a significant range and is very good for taking down multiple enemies at once with the Pop and Lock method.
  • Progress slowly and cautiously in vehicle sections - The vehicles get destroyed very fast on Impossible, especially against Rail Drivers. Given you can't heal your vehicles, you'll want to move slowly through these areas and take out the enemies cautiously. Saving regularly is very beneficial for these sections, as is even leaving your vehicle where possible to attack certain enemies on foot (for instance the final vehicle section on the way to Masako, I highly recommend taking out Rail Driver enemies on foot so they don't decimate your ship).
  • Kill noncombatants - It sounds cruel but noncombatants can drop medkits/envirosuits, which can aid in your survival. Also don't forget that medics with syringes can heal you infinitely so don't kill these guys.

The following video is the segmented world record run on PC on Impossible. Some of the methods in the run are a bit extreme for a standard playthrough but it shows some very good ways of skipping through certain encounters and dealing with sections in the game. Credit to Zach R. for the video:
